The food was delicious. I had chicken fried steak with cream gravy, which came with toast and two sides. I chose creamed spinach and sweet glazed carrots. My daughter had a mushroom swiss burger and sweet potato fries. My husband had chicken fried chicken with toast, mashed potatoes and potato salad. The décor was western with a few trophy heads and booties. The music was old country, heavy on Willie, Waylon and the boys. I loved it and will be back on my next trip to Fort Worth.

They were really good but we had a hair in our food and the cleanliness of the people that worked there was a little debatable. Overall it’s sketchy but delicious of deep fried goodness.

This place is nothing fancy from the outside but the food is pretty good! Menu consists of American food and the portions are very generous. My daughter said they gave her too many fries at least 3 times which I said was not a bad thing.

We were camping over at Lake Benbrook and I found this place looking through Unilocal.Instead of going to the usual places, we decided to give this place a try and I’m glad we did. Lone Star Grill is at the end of a small strip mall and doesn’t look too visually appealing from the outside, but it’s the food that counts. On that part, they seem to have their act together!
We noticed right away that the plates that other people had were big and piled high with food. You order at a counter — not my favorite — but not a big deal either. We ordered chicken fried steak, the catfish platter, and a burger with onion rings.
When we got our food, it was just as loaded with food as we had seen. Everything was good and I enjoyed the creamed spinach I had ordered. The fried zucchini was good, as were the onion rings, the burger — in fact, everyone liked it a lot! We ended up taking about half the food with us because we weren’t close to finishing it.
Do yourself a favor and stop here to eat. It’s old-​fashioned American food done well, and I like to see local businesses stay open instead of being replaced with run-​of-​the-​mill franchises.

Huge portions, fun service, laid back atmosphere.
We usually go with wings and chicken tenders.
The Mac-​n-​cheese is creamy and luscious. It could use some extra salt-​n-​pepper but it’s darn near cheesy perfection.
Cold beer is always a plus and on a slow night you can have some great convo with the bartender!
Gotta love small town hospiltality!!!

If you like a traditional Texas café, this is good value for your buck, here. Tasty food, large portions, moderately priced. (Former location of the Texas Grill.)
The Possums have visited a couple three times now and recommend the CFS for sure. The mashed potatoes are real, with lumps of real potato to prove it. The CFS is a real steak inside a crispy crust. I had pintos as a side, and they were ok, not awful, not stellar.
The only drawback (CAUTION: Heresy ahead) was that there was *too much gravy*. I know! Who would ever think those words could come out of my mouth, without lightning striking my little possum head? But, yeah, it kinda overwhelmed the CFS. Ask for the gravy on the side and problem solved.
Mr Possum had a well-​made burger, and the side of onion rings took up more than half the plate.
We saw a tiny little church lady wrapping herself around a big plate of yummy-​looking fried catfish, so we plan to try that next time.
Ambiance: Order at the counter, fill your own drinks, DQ-​esque seating and restrooms, clean.
