One of my favorite stores in Bemidji besides Target, of course ;). All of their items are unique and hand crafted. I could literally buy the whole store. Only negative is it’s expensive, so don’t go in if you don’t have the money… because you’ll want everything!

The liquor stores in town do not carry whiskey stones. However, because I follow the YU on Facebook, I recently came across a post of theirs featuring the stones, and indeed, my soul was satisfied. Emily, who was working, helped me very graciously and showed me some fun products. The YU is a compact and eclectic shop for the everyday hipster and artsy crowd. Great place to get a gift for someone, ranging from paintings to scarves to unique women’s apparel. In small town Bemidji, the YU reigns supreme to the«hipster» culture.

Absolutely love this shop! I am from Bemidji and wish there would have been shops like this when I lived here! Lots of unique handmade items, perfect for gift giving too!

What a wonderful little gift shop! Inside there are lots of local designs from purses to jewelry to postcards and baby stuff. Staff was very warm and welcoming. There was even a kids room in the back, with a dvd playing while kids colored on the chalkboard. I had to buy a homemade cat toy and some jewelry from a Dakota designer. If I’m ever in the area again, I will stop buy to see what they have to offer.

I had seen the folks from Yellow Umbrella when I was at a craft show in Minneapolis. When I headed to Bemidji for work I knew I wanted to stop in and see what their space looked like and I’m so glad I did! I have always appreciated that although Bemidji is a smaller northern town, it has always had a great arts community. This store adds to the artsy goodness of this cute downtown area. While there I purchased some natural manly body products, upcycled(as much as I despise that word) winter mittens, and some postcards printed from local artists. Not everying in Yellow Umbrella is locally made but you can tell they are making a strong effort to include artists from the area. The product, décor, music playing, and service was all top notch. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town. Go in and support this business!

Wow, not that I am a completely judgmental urban snob, but I would have never expected a place this cool in Bemidji. It reminded me of I Like You, a cute crafty gift shop in Minneapolis. I stopped in on a whim while I was in town for work and I wish I wouldn’t have been so broke, because there were a ton of really cool things to buy. My favorite were the neon colored necklace holding antlers. There was also a very wide selection of really awesome prints. For a smaller shop, the selection was pretty awesome. Everything from baby things to knit goods, candles to jewelry.

What a wonderful little shop. Everything from retro clothing, gifts, jewlery, and art. It’s an eclectic mix of fun. Hold on to your wallet if you don’t want to spend anything — because you will. I love seeing an etsy store become brick and mortor. It’s way more fun to wander through things than hover over the internet.
