Disappointed in quality. Ordered guacamole and chips. Guacamole was not fresh. Nachos had liquid cheese on nachos. We ordered chimichanga and burrito. Steak in burrito and chimichanga were ok. But overall I have had much better. Rice and beans were tasty. No salsa on side of main dishes. Expected more authentic food with real cheese, preferable Mexican cheese. We did a carry out so were not able to send food back. I have eat in the restaurant and had good food and service so this was very disappointing.

Easily my favorite Mexican restaurant that I’ve ever been too. This place is a small family restaurant that does food right. They don’t even serve alcohol, which I actually love. You really get to experience their authentic cuisine. I always get the Lengua Tacos and Horchata. But I have tried a lot here and never had a bad dish. Please do yourself a favor and support this amazing place.

Victor was wonderful to work with when planning our staff party. Everyone LOVED the food. It was plentiful and excellent. We now have a new favorite place to get our heat on. The Guacamole was so fresh and everything was GREAT! Thanks

I didn’t quite realize how good their food is until I lived in different parts of the country. I make it a point to fill up on this place anytime I’m back home for anything.
Al hombre and Al pastor tacos are awesome here.

I’ve came here a few time, but this is the first time using the Unilocal app. Well first of all the location is in downtown Belvidere, in a semi fishy area, but it’s still safe then other locations.
Now cleanliness: is 50⁄50 there is some dust on the decorations, nothing major, maybe clean it once in a while? The floors are spotless and the tables as well. The service is GREAT! Very attentive, very pleasant and with a great educated attitude.
The food: very delicious. Best tacos in town, best Mexican food in town (Belvidere town that’s is).
Highly recommend you come here for a taco craving.
Prices: are fairly cheap to average. So again you wanna grab some grub but not spend a lot. Come here.

As the other reviewers mention, it is a great Mexican place… for the area. This has to be stressed because if you’re coming from somewhere that has a Mexican restaurant on every corner (which I did before moving to Belvidere) you’re going to be left wanting more. Solid food, good flavors, eclectic menu, and cheap food. Definitely a restaurant to return to, but it’ll never beat Elgin’s selection.

Food was great as reviews state. However, the service is beyond exceptional. Very friendly and accommodating. Looks like a family owned business that strives to make sure its customers are satisfied. I ordered the chicken torta dinner myself. We also ordered the veggie burrito and Chile relleno at our table. Everything looked fresh and great! Highly recommend!

Had a great experience at my first time here tonight. The chips, salsa & pico de gallo that they brought up first were fresh & had great flavor, with just the right amount of spice! I got a chicken torta, and my husband got a steak burrito. They too were great! The prices were totally reasonable, and the portions were so big that both my husband & I could only finish half of our entrée!
The staff was very attentive, refilling our drinks & chips without us even having to ask. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our dinner & we will definitely be back:)

Super clean authentic spot, we wandered in having seen lots of people inside and the owner gave us a really friendly greeting — the first sign of a good experience. It’s casual café type dining, feels just like the real thing in Mexico. Service was top notch and the food was delicious — taco salad with lots of steak, fresh ingredients. Just a nice family run local eatery. So much happier to support these guys than go to a chain restaurant. Give it a try!!!

Great hole in the wall. All you can eat chips. Fresh sauces and guacamole. Had the steak burrito. One of the best I’ve had in a long time. Husband had steak chimichanga and loved it. 3 people ate for under 30 bucks, and we were stuffed! We will be back again. It was worth the little road trip to come here.

Very good, authentic food. They brought chips, salsa, pico, and sour cream to the table when we say down. The tacos dinner and tamales were fantastic. We’ll definitely be returning again. It’s in a nice area in the Belvidere downtown too.

Small store front restaurant, old but well maintained and very clean. Friendly staff. Salsa was good, the Pico de gallo was excellent. I had the Burrito Supreme Alambre which was outstanding, and the steak was tender and moist. My wife had the Shrimp tacos which unfortunately were horrible. Greasy tortillas, tough shrimp, little if any cheese, lettuce, or tomatoes. Difficult to recommend, but will try again.

This place was amazing! I went there based on a recommendation from a friend that lives in Belvidere and it did not disappoint. It was less than $ 35 for my two brothers and I to eat there, so needless to say it was definitely priced well. I had the chiles rellenos and they were the best I’ve ever had. My brothers had the steak chimichanga and the vegetarian burrito (two very different tastes) and both were stuffed by the end of the meal. The portion sizes are huge and the unlimited chips and salsa are definitely good as well.
The staff is extremely friendly and the food was served quickly. This is a fairly small restaurant and can be hard to find if you’re not looking for it. But the ambiance was good and it was just very laid back in general. This is honestly one of the best Mexican places I’ve been to in the Rockford area and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food. I will not hesitate to visit again!
