This was a horrible experience starting with the margarita. The strawberry margarita tasted like all syrup & no alcohol. I sent it back & got a regular one which was only slightly better. The meal came & it tasted like someone poured an entire bottle of salt on everything. maybe cuz I complained about the margarita??? I dont know, but it was soooo salty that I could not eat it. And I LOVE mexican food. this was HORRIBLE& we wont be returning. De Juans is way better.

I have lived in BELVIDERE for 20 years and I have tried every single Mexican restaurant in town and around the area. I was very impress with their food. I’m Hispanic so, I know very well when a restaurant serves good delicious Mexican food. Every time it’s done fresh and they take their time to give you the best dish when your there. It’s now the only Mexican restaurant I go too. From Tortas, Tacos, Fajitas, even the tortilla chips that are served before ordering are fresh and delicious with their fresh salsa.

There are better options in town. Food was OK. A little on the bland side. Service OK. Waitress was very receptive to special request on dish but not very attentive to details. Probably wouldn’t go back.

Have eaten here at least a dozen times. The food is good and the chorizo queso is awesome but the service increasingly disappoints. There is one waitress who is there most of the time we go in but she is overwhelmed. Tonight we were in, she was the only waitress on duty, there were two people in the kitchen cooking and she was pulled from her tables to take care of walkins and phone calls. She needs help or loyal customers like my family will go elsewhere.

Bad service, poor salsa, and sour margaritas. To top it off gristle tacos. Our food took nearly 45 minutes to be delivered and we had no salt or pepper at table. The help wanted ad in the window should have gave us a clue.

All I really wanted was to find my new chips & queso place now that I’ve moved back from California, but EVERYTHING that I ordered was DELICIOUS! I’m not one to like tomatoes, onions, or peppers so usually its hard for me to like a Mexican restaurant because a lot of places seam to add it to everything without informing anyone on the menu. This place was clear-cut and had fast, and friendly pick-up service with a clean place in a great location! I WILL be ordering from them again. I also eat my own poop so I hope that helps too.

This place is off the beaten path of Belvidere. Tried it because they had a Groupon. The Margaritas are really good. I’m usually a beer guy, but switched for the moment. We’ve been there a few times and the food has been great every time. Kids menu is great and diverse. Many choices for the picky kid in your family. They have both boosters and high chairs. Do not be afraid to bring your young ones. The dining area is much larger than it appeared from the outside. The dining area was very clean and the overall service is solid.

My family and I eat here all the time. BYFAR this is the best Mexican restaurant in Belvidere! There is NOPLACE better than Quinta. The service is quick, usually within 10 minutes of ordering the food is at your table. The prices are affordable and the food is NOTBLAND! Lets be honest, some may have an issue with their food, but if you mention there is an issue they will bend over backwards to correct whatever is wrong. The wait staff is pleasant too, and you can always ASK for more chips and Salsa. The restaurant is clean and safe(earlier Unilocaler indicated this). Why wouldn’t it be safe? Sheesh. The Pina Coladas are very good too! I would highly recommend Quinta. There is not a better place to go while you are in town. Note: Always consider everyone’s opinion, but give them a shot. As you notice the amount of good reviews far outweigh the bad ones.

The food was fine but I won’t be back. I had the burrito, which was huge… because it was mostly rice and beans! There was very little meat, lettuce, or tomato in it. My friend’s tacos looked just ok. She also had chile rellenos as part of her mission to find the best ones in the area. Again, they were fine but she wasn’t impressed. Service was good. There are much better Mexican restaurants in Woodstock, so there is no reason for me to come back here.

how this place gets more than 2 stars is beyond me. It’s clean, that’s the one star. Requested a N/A beer, waitress looked at me like I just ordered gasoline to drink. Ok, maybe a sprite with a lime. I get sprite to 2 lemon wedges. Ordered taco dinner, lengua, this is a tex mex resturant right. You get a half basket of COLD chips and a very small scoop of salsa to munch on, don’t ask for seconds ya get«the look». Here comes dinner, three tacos of basically lettuce and few bland(I mean small) pieces of lenqua, a tablespoon of beans(I said tablespoon not kidding) and rice, with a huge pile of MORE lettuce! Not sure if the waitress ever smiled. If you guessed I won’t return, you’re correct.

I’ve been to this little Mexican place at least five or six times with family when visiting the area. I was there twice this week. As far as I am concerned, the restaurant is clean and I feel safe eating here, but the food is rather bland. It is just OK and if other restaurants were available I would rather go elsewhere. Note: they have a very affordable menu — especially during lunch time — but lunch portions are smaller than the regular menu and they don’t necessarily point that out. My friends had the quesadilla for lunch and there were only 4 pieces — at $ 4.99 it is an ok snack but was not enough for a lunch meal. I have only had limited selections myself, and I find the food to be boring, rather tasteless, and not very authentic. The chicken taco salad is composed of a hard taco shell filled with only shredded lettuce and topped with white cheese(which they put on everything) and a chicken breast that is sliced into about 10 pieces. After you eat the chicken nothing is left except for shredded lettuce in the shell. They provide tiny containers of guacamole and sour cream and a salad dressing. My recommendation to the cook — forget about serving salad dressing unless requested, marinate the chicken and shred it, add beans and rice to the shell under the lettuce. At $ 6.99 — I thought I was getting a nice taco salad but in the end felt ripped off. I later remembered I had made this same selection in the past and forgot that I was never supposed to order this again. Additional comments: 1) water glasses don’t get refilled 2) chips and pico de gallo are placed on the table but not refilled and only a small dish of the pico de galo is provided per table I will continue to eat here because my sister loves this place, but I will always remain unimpressed and dissatisfied with the overall blandness of the food.

This restaurant has very good authentic Mexican food. I have been coming here for a couple of years and love it but the only reason why I didn’t give it a 5 is because the portions are unfortunately a little smaller now. The wait staff is very nice but inexperienced and need a little more training. Overall I recommend this place and I believe they have the best Mexican food in the area!

This is the gold standard for Mexican restaurants in the Rockford Belvidere area and I’ve driven 10 miles many times to get to it. The service occasionally leaves something to be desired but the food is fresh and made with care — actually quality ingredients prepared and seasoned well. If you appreciate good cooking and like Mexican food like I do, this is the only restaurant around that will satisfy. We’re lucky to have it here.

The Best Tex Mex, food in the state line their food is excellent! Generous servings, reasonable prices and the Margaritas are the best. We have tried just about every Mexican food Resturant in the area and after many disappointments we were a little hesitant to try a new one but sure glad we did, because I would have to rate their food with in the top five restaurants(including the city of Chicago) in northern Illinois. if you are looking for the best in the state line area this is the place We also want to mention Habaneros Resturant which was located in Rockford which served authentic Mexican cuisine unfortunately has closed probably do to it location.

Excellent. Started with a margarita on the rocks. Just sour enough, in a large glass with a lime and salt. Next, salsa and chips. Thick cut fresh chips, and a pop de gallo style salsa. Very spicy without asking, and also very fresh. So far I’m thrilled. Meals came. Kept getting better. Arrived just as ordered, with perfectly seasoned chicken on crisp tortilla. Mini burrito was tiny, but there was so much food it was just right. Aranas combo is highly recommended. Service was also excellent.

I have to agree with other Unilocalers on this one and say how fantastic the food is here. By far the best quality tasting Mexican food in the Belvidere and Rockford area. Nice authentic food with affordable pricing for each item on the menu, which is quite expansive(that’s a good thing!). The restaurant is small and cozy and fits around 70 people total. The decoration is creative and unique as I can definitely sense the feeling of enjoying my time as if I was in a hacienda in Mexico. The business is fairly new and the owners are very friendly and make sure their customers leave happy. If you’re in the area and in the mood for Mexican, make sure to come on by to Quinta Carmina Mexican Cuisine.
