Clean and efficient stop for the night at a decent price. Bed was just ok and breakfast was adequate but lacking pizazz. A solid 4 on the roadside accommodation scale.

You can tell pretty easily that this hotel is either underfunded/​old or both. But you can tell that they are trying their hardest to make the best out of it. It was a surprisingly pleasant stay.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed there. It was for sure one of the highlights of staying there.
The facility is old. You can tell. However, they keep it clean and is still fairly cozy. I had no major complaints about the facility. Keep note, other hotels, this hotel shows that «old» doesn’t have to mean «bad».
Overall, I would stay here again if I was in Bellingham again. If you are on a budget, stay here.
This hotel is really close to Whatcom Falls so that’s also a plus.

I have never been so disappointed with a hotel in my life. The room was filthy! Weeks/​months of dust on the headboards of the bed and over the armoire. It appeared that someone left the contents of their nose one the inside of the lampshades by the bed. They were dried and fell onto the nightstand between the two beds. The beds were squeaky because the mattresses were old and had wire springs. A floor lamp that had no outlet to plug it into. But wait, there’s more! There was water leaking from the ceiling that dripped onto the light fixture over the sink in our room. In short, I would NEVER stay here again for any reason. Please see the photos I took.

I arrived here in Bellingham soon after running a no frills trail half marathon near Bonney Lake on Saturday, 09/​26/​2015. The traffic was kind of horrible on the I-​405 northbound, since it was a couple of days before installing the new toll things.
The Guesthouse Inn in Bellingham was more of a hotel than a motel, although some can disagree on that. I thought that it was a nice hotel property with a lot of spunk and potential, which already does good things. I arrived here around 6pm to check in after visiting the Bellingham Bay marathon & half marathon expo at the Best Western hotel, which was basically across the street from my hotel and getting a quick dinner at Subway also. First impressions when I pulled into the parking lot was that, this is a pretty good place and glad that I found this place. It was generally a cheaper option for me and about a mile from the Bellingham Bay marathon finish line. There was good parking spots near the entrance, so there wasn’t a lack of it, just need to get there during non peak times for the prime spots as close to the lobby entrance as you possibly can.
The Bellingham Guesthouse Inn here is located at 805 Lakeway Drive /​I-​5. The lobby here was quite picturesque and definitely better at some name brand hotels I’ve stayed at previously. They accept the major credit cards, which is usually industry standard, along with your state issued identification card aka driver’s license. In Bellingham, there is a plethora of restaurant options nearby, so chances are you have a car or a rental, so explore if you can, since downtown Bellingham and the vicinity is a pretty cool place to be. Average price per night I found was under $ 100/​night, which is great for a budget conscious traveler like myself. I found my stay to be a pretty good one and the check in service to be good, fast, quite expedient, and with a smile. Always good with a smile.
The room I got was room 226 and there was ice machines on the 2^nd floor, as well as the lobby. There is an elevator as well as stairs, if you choose. The room itself was decent large enough, with a king bed and a large screen television. It was clean and organized. Just the typical set up for your hotel room, with the toilet and shower tub set up next to the door. The air condition was decent and worked okay. The wifi was strong at some points, but sucked ass at other times, when I wanted it to be fast. The bed was quite comfortable and it was nice to just eat in bed while watching tv after a morning running 13.1 miles at the Bellingham Bay half marathon and walking 2 miles (1 mile to and 1 mile from Railroad Avenue). Managed to get in decent amount of sleep before venturing back to Seattle for the flight home after 2 nights here.
The check out process was nice and brief. I managed to get up early and seriously load up on the continental breakfast spread they had and it was kind of nice to be here instead of commuting to work. Traffic going into Seattle sucked ass on the I-​5, but what can you do. Overall, the Bellingham Guesthouse Inn was a good choice, both logistically and financially, for this return trip to Bellingham. Best bet would be to stay here on your way to Vancouver, BC or Seattle, or anywhere else you may be headed.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel being well kept and the staff is great. Location is near WWU, Fred Meyers is across the street to grab whatever you need Costco, Target, Wal-​mart and shopping malls are all within a 15 min drive.
Continental breakfast was perfect to hold us over till we got a proper lunch. Daily breakfast was served from 6 — 10 a.m. It consisted of waffles you make yourself (fun), yogurt, different breads and bagels to toast, cereals, fruit, juices, hard boiled eggs and the most important breakfast staple… COFFEE! Fresh brewed, just right, not too weak or strong.
Also, there is a small laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. I’m picky about where I wash my clothes while on the road. The machines weren’t the newest models BUT they were very clean! It just cost $ 1 per wash and $ 1 per dryer. Just go to the front desk to purchase a token.
Only issue I had was the housekeeping men that did my room. When I returned from a day of errands, shopping and moving daughter into the dorm my bed was made but all the pillows were piled on the floor. None of the toiletries or towels were replaced. All trash cans were left full. Called front desk and the housekeeping men came up within 5 mins with towels and cleaning supplies.
They better have come back after taking the $ 10 I left them that morning. Maybe they had a rough day?
Will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here this past week and thought for the price it was a good place to stay .
The room size seemed fine to me, two large queen beds, refrigerator and microwave, 40 inch tv.
The hallways were a little worn and carpets especially by the outside doors were dirty, but I guess that can be expected.
Front desk was helpful.

Right off the freeway (hence you can hear the freeway all night), friendly staff, clean rooms (but tiny).
If you are allergic to dogs, ask for a non-​pet room when booking. Don’t pay rack rates, book through
website.
The free continental breakfast is a. little weak compared to others.

I’ll start with how friendly the entire hotel staff has been since our early arrival! The rooms are not large but are very comfortable/​basic. Excited to see that we had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We were only staying one night but for folks staying longer there is a Fred Myer next door that would be happy to stock your fridge. The location is great, parking is easy, wi-​fi makes planning and exploring easy. The hot tub is small… seats 5 so if this is a big deal to you get there early.

I was calling around to find a hotel that excepted dogs the night I needed a place because we were driving from Oregon to Alaska. They were so nice on the phone and booked a room right away for us. They had free cookies when you checked in and who checked me in was so nice. The room was great. Nice huge beds. Nice tv. Free WiFi. Free breakfast. Nice and quiet. Checking out was super easy as well. So very happy we stopped here. souls totally recommend to anyone! Oh and totally non smoking!

To be fair, nothing was awful, but just average. Staff was fine, the place was clean, but somewhat dated and much more cramped than some other places. While the construction appears to be good, it is incredibly close to the freeway. Good breakfast with nice variety. All in all fine, but nothing spectacular, but then again it is very cheap.

We are the most difficult of guests. We have chemical sensitivities & a dog & the list of finicky OCD needs is long. But staff here cheerfully bent over backward to set aside 2 possible rooms for us to «sniff test» to make sure our room wouldn’t trigger an asthma attack. This kind of accommodation is extremely rare. The room itself was adequate. Everything worked & it was clean. The location was perfect, very close to our events in Fairhaven. Also, I am pretty sure the staff waived our $ 10 dog deposit (not that our pet is destructive or sheddy). We generally have no interest in weak coffee, pastries, or juice, so no opinion about breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice clean little Hotel close to the interstate. I used a coupon code that I got when I joined their mailing list. The room was about 60 bucks. Great for a business trip. There was a fridge and a microwave, which helped my leftovers survive for lunch the next day.
The whole place is non-​smoking, so you don’t have to worry about specifying a smoke free room.
The breakfast was great. It is continental in a private room. You could make your own waffle, breakfast sandwich, or cereal.
I would find another Guesthouse in another town, if I were out and about traveling again.

The free continental breakfast is the only reason I couldn’t give this place five stars.
Imagine a room no bigger than a rich person’s closet. With an activated hotel key card you now have access to Magic Johnson’s 3^rd fitting room. In this room you are challenged to be the most cutthroat possible. Nuke-​em-​yourself breakfast sandwiches or jockey-​for-​position opportunities at the waffle station are yours if you don’t mind curb stomping a couple old people. After bumping into octogenarians for 10 minutes I finally lined my pockets with apples and muffins and fled the breakfast arena of doom. If you want breakfast show up early and bring a shiv.
Besides the continental breakfast this place puts the Ham in Bellingham (I don’t know what that means either, it’s supposed to be provocative). Bellingham GuestHouse Inn is cheap. It has big comfy beds. It has a cleaning staff that leaves hand written notes. It’s like being back home again but the notes aren’t nagging you about going to graduate school or saving your money for retirement.
As an untrusted random person you are only reading for the first time on Unilocal… I highly recommend staying at the GuestHouse Inn.
It’s also just a stones throw from downtown.

This is a clean well-​located motel (next to the freeway), and it’s a good value. But let’s not kid ourselves. Three stars should be a nice average place, and five stars means best possible, at least for the area. Let’s be reasonable if our ratings are to be of any value.
As with any place, if you’re bothered by noise ask for a room on the quiet side. They’ll know where that is.
Included breakfast is adequate.

We stayed here for one night … the only complaint I had is the interstate noise if your room faces I-​5. You can definitely hear the traffic (rather well) — possibly triple-​pane windows would cut down on the noise.
The people at the desk were very, very nice.
The breakfast was awesome, tons to choose from.
If we had to stay in Bellingham again we’d definitely stay there.

I thought this Hotel was great, not fancy but clean and reasonable. Really happy they have microwave and mini fridge in room. Quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free WIFI, good signal in room. Complimentary Breakfast! I would come back.

This is a great place to stay in Bellingham. The motel is close to the freeway but quiet. Clean rooms with a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Nice staff. Great breakfast. Would highly recommend

I just finished writing a 1 star review of Days Inn in Bellingham. It was a horrible experience with no hot water. We moved to the GuestHouse Inn and are glad we did.
By contrast, Bellingham’s GuestHouse Inn is wonderful. The people care about their guests and, in fact, the desk clerk wanted to know all of our preferences. I jokingly said: «I would like the presidential suite with no extra charges.» He gave it to us! Top floor in the most quiet part of the hotel. It really was his best room.
The hotel is clean, people are nice, everything works, and it is centrally located so that you can get anywhere in Bellingham in just a few minutes. This is MY hotel when I visit Bellingham.

i’m writing this from the FREE internet at the val-​u inn. that right away gives this place 5 stars. plus the hot tub, plus the nice rooms, plus the awesome prices. i’d heard this was the best place to stay in bellingham and now i’m a believer! oh bonus, all the windows in the whole place are double paned so it doesn’t seem to matter that you’re next to the freeway because it’s very quiet, that’d add another star if i could.
