Always a great place for a home cooked breakfast. The food is just like mom used to make and delicious.

I wanted to love this place. It’s in my hometown and it’s been around for 30+ years. It’s just the sort of place that when you walk in you think, «This is going to be awesome.» I mean, it has to be, right? An old fashioned café on main street serving up classic American fare and that has been in business this long HAS to be great. It’s not. Mostly, it’s just«meh.» It’s not a coffee shop in the modern sense. Don’t stop here expecting a ma-and-pa equivalent of a Starbucks or Scooter’s. It’s more of a percolated, regular or decaf, Folgers type of place. There’s no espresso machine here, so don’t try and order a latte. The business name«Downtown Coffee Shop» predates our modern idea of what a coffee shop is. At this place«coffee shop» just synonymous with café or diner. I ordered the #1 on their breakfast menu(2 eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns) for $ 8.40. Eggs were good. They weren’t the most visually appealing couple of eggs I’ve been served, but they were good. Bacon looked burnt, but was actually chewy. I’m not sure how that happens. Perhaps the grill needed cleaned. Hash browns were mush. They could have taken mashed potatoes and browned them on their flattop grill and gotten the same result. I’m guessing they’re using frozen hash browns and not actually grating fresh potatoes themselves. Their pancakes are 100% out of a box. I know this because the 5lb box of powdered mix was sitting on the counter, «Gold Medal® Complete Buttermilk Pancake Mix.» Just add water. If I wanted pancakes out of a box I would have just made them at home using my own boxed mix. I go out to eat because I want to eat food prepared in a way that I don’t have the time or equipment to do myself. I have time to «just add water» and I own a functioning skillet. It’s basically a couple of middle-aged women grilling up the kind of food you might make for yourself at home. They’re hoping their sass and conversation make up for it. However, when I am eating, I generally liked to be left alone by the staff. There’s no ingredient quality, culinary skill, or original menu to impress you here. They’re just cooking up whatever boxed/canned/frozen things Sysco delivers.

Simple and authentic small town breakfast place with exceedingly pleasant, but not cloying, staff. The menu is straightforward with all the breakfast classics without the fluff found in chain restaurants(E.g. guacamole egg white omelettes with artichoke hearts, etc.). I had the classic breakfast of two eggs with hashbrowns, bacon, and toast. The food came to the counter steaming hot straight off the griddle. No complaints, only compliments.

Great little breakfast place! Hidden away in old Bellevue it’s a small hole in the wall breakfast and lunch place. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! We ordered pancakes with bacon and French toast with ham. The portions were large and very reasonably priced.

This cute little diner in ‘Old Bellevue’ has great service, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was tasty, like what you might cook at home. My only grumble is the seriously weak coffee. Since coffee is in their name, I was expecting some bold tasting coffee, not this warm water tasting version. I liked this place so much, I feel bad even saying anything about the coffee. You just have to know what to expect, so as not to be disappointed when you take your first sip.

My son and I stopped in for breakfast during a recent motorcycle trip after asking a local for a breakfast place recommendation. Our waitress was very friendly, and service was fast. Great prices and a good menu. Both of us enjoyed our breakfasts and my coffee cup was kept full. Most of the other patrons seemed to be local regulars. Would not hesitate to go again. Everything a small town diner should be.

The Downtown Coffee shop on Mission Road in Bellevue was fantastic! East coast feel with a great group of women taking care of evryone, engaging in each customer serving a homemade good olé breakfast! My husband had the cornbeef hash meal and it was cooked to perfection! Overall the food was a 5 out of 5, the staff and owner/cook a 10!

I stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. You have to go through a main entrance into a hallway to get to the front door of this place(it does not have street access). The atmosphere is very casual, much like a small town diner. Our waitress was very friendly! The menu is pretty big and everything is crazy affordable. My friend and I both ordered the french toast(she also ordered a side of hash browns) and my other friend ordered a hot chocolate. The french toast was good but nothing special. My friend said about the same about the hash browns. The hot chocolate was pretty fancy(it had all the works) and my friend said it was pretty good. I would go here if I was in the area but probably would not go out of my way for it. You cannot beat the prices, though, and they have just about any breakfast food you could want, although it is just the basics(nothing crazy or unique).

Since taking the toll bridge(a 10 minute cut on my commute) I’ve driven past the Downtown Coffee Shop, thinking I should stop there soon. Small business coffee shops are my favorite! So quaint and unique. I parked on the street and was confused about where to go in. There’s no front entrance. I had to go inside another building to find the entrance. Little did I know, it was more of a diner than an actual coffee shop. I walked up to the counter and asked if they had lattes. I must of sounded really stupid. The lady working said she didn’t sell«froo-froo» coffee. I am guessing they just have cheap decaf and regular. I walked out with my tail between my legs; just a tad humiliated. Why call it a coffee shop when it’s really a breakfast diner? The name is deceiving. I’d like to go and have breakfast at some point and maybe my review will change. To what lies ahead…

Best kept secret in Bellevue. While their breakfast is terrific and their pancakes are amazing, their Jumbo Cheeseburger is one of the best I’ve had! They butter and grill their bun and that makes a big difference to me. The staff has always been friendly to my family. It is my boys FAVORITE place to eat breakfast and I lunch here often.
