Typical Rita’s. The only downside is the parking lot is right on Philadelphia Pike, so unless you are a savvy driver, you should park on the side street.

If you are from the tri-state area(meaning PA, NJ and DE), you have surely tried Rita’s at some point in your life. I am not saying that it is as good as some of the Mom and Pop joint down in South Philly(can you say Italiano’s or Gooey Louey’s!) but it is good. The custard is good with a nice texture. Not like that crap McDonald’s serves… Yuck! You might be asking… why take the time to review a regular place with regular water ice and regular custard? This particular location has great folks that work there. Patient and Nice. Just good people. Something we don’t find enough of anymore. I took my niece there a bit ago and we walked about a block away at which time her custard toppled from her cone to the ground. She stared at it. I stared at it. I said what the hell, let’s go get another one. No line at this time. I went to the counter, ordered a repeat of what I just ordered not even 10 minutes ago. She asked my niece what happened and she said it fell on the ground. The girl didn’t bat an eye, made her another one and gave it to her. Wouldn’t take my money. She smiled, my niece smiled and I smiled. (I am sure this had something to do with the fact that there wasn’t a line and such, but it’s a nice story to share none the less.) This is why when I want Rita’s, I will specifically go to this location. It’s all about customer service baby!

Hummm, well, not knowing what«water ice» was before visiting, I’d say Rita’s is a good stop on a hot summer’s day for either that or their overtly thick, rich frozen custard. The frozen custard is much like frozen yogurt only much more rich, very, very thick and of course sweet. The Water Ice is much like a slightly more firm slushi type of thing. Think ‘slushi you can eat with a spoon’ and that’s water ice. They also have sugar free, fat free flavors of the water ice which is great for those wanting a very healthy frozen treat without all the regular sugar and fat. The negative? It was HARDLY worth $ 7 for their smallest order order of water ice and the small order of frozen custard. I suppose since the locals seem to love this place unconditionally(odd I think) they can make out with the crazy Hamptons-like pricing.
