We love it here. The best salsa ever. Great place for dates. Salsa cannot be beat!

I really… really …really wanted to like this place. We went for Cinco De Mayo. What a mess. The two star is for the decent cheap margaritas and the chips. I said only chips, the salsa tasted like strait tomato, no spice and bland. My hubs ordered the steak burrito, I ordered a number 4 and my daughter ordered nachos and queso. Nothing was good, but I made the decision to shelf this place and never return based on this: my husbands burrito was cold in the center. He let the waiter know after the first bite. A few minutes later the waiter retuned with the same steak burrito. It had been warmed up, sour cream and all. My husband asked if it had been microwaved and he said«yes, it takes to long to make a new one.» That was it. No thanks, I’ll try to get my food poisoning elsewhere. I couldn’t believe it. Everything else was tasteless. I can make better food at home. Thanks for trashing Cinco De Mayo.

Appalling food & service. Really enjoyed the plastic spoon served with my cold soup. Save money and eat at Taco Bell.

Looking for a great«hole in the wall» substitute after moving and there was a wait at Maudie’s. Let me start off with — I had great service. The décor was good and decent ambiance. Then came the salsa… bland. Then came the drinks… way too much sweet & sour. The queso was okay. Food came promptly(simple crispy tacos and cheese enchiladas). And it was not good. It wasn’t bad, but not good. It was a waste of money, and I left disappointed that this will never be my spot. Back to Maudie’s(ehhh, but would have rather waited) until I have the nerve to venture out again.

Well priced Tex-Mex food. The tortilla soup was great — rich broth, not too salty, lots of veggies and topped w cheese and a slice of avocado. Chips light and crispy and fresh salsa. We will be back!

Mediocre mexican. If you’re just looking for the same old mexican on a budget, Mesa Rosa is OK. Quick in and out. You’re not going to find anything that wow’s you, and depending how old the food is you just MIGHT be disappointed. There are far worse around town… but there are many better as well.

Excellent! Closest Mexican food as good as San Antonio that I’ve ever had! Friendly staff and great value! The carne sauce on the cheese enchiladas is spot on! The beef tacos have just the right amount of flavor without Bering spicy or too greasy. And gene rouse drinks to boot! We will be back!

Service: Promptly seated and given chips, salsa, and beverage order. Atmosphere: Cantina feel, spacious, lots of booth seating. Cleanliness in line with most TexMex places. Nice bar with sports on TV. Salsa: Mild to Medium. Chunky. Good. Queso: Good consistency. Not too cheesy. Worth it if you like it. Chips: are not served warm, but are fresh. Food: Tried a special pork chimi. Good flavor, nice crust. Great with their creamy jalapeño sauce. Price: very reasonable.

Chips are ok. Salsa is good. Chicken used in the enchiladas is tough brown meat. Close your eyes. Never ever try the hamburgers, unless you like frozen discs of meat thawed out in a microwave… From cows, maybe? Gross. The margaritas will make your stomach pucker with revolt from the sour mix that must surely have the mean essence of every nasty person you’ve ever encountered all stored in a barrel out back. They’ll leave you questioning your choices as much as that one night stand that one time, you remember? That night and the following days you’ll pray you didn’t actually ingest drano because your guts feel as if they are eroding into a fire pot of mush! Save your money. Save yourself. This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants ever. P.S. Skip Maudies and Don Julios too… My research continues…

Ordered fajitas for 2, and when we were given tea saucers to place our food on, then told that they didn’t have enough regular plates for dinner, that was the last time we have been. Don’t scrimp on plates!

Had really poor service during a moderately busy lunch time. One hour and forty minutes for lunch. Mistakes on the order. Forgotten items. No apologies from the manager. However he did say we could come back the next day for a free ice tea. Nice, but said with a snarky attitude. Not returning.

Just don’t do it to yourselves… Salsa loaded with huge chunks of onion, Runny queso, taco meat tasted like it was made of packaged taco seasoning dumped into poor quality ground beef, and the enchiladas were equally as bad. The rice and beans were surprisingly decent– hence the two stars, and they seemed to have a large drink menu but I wouldn’t subject my taste buds to this fake Mexican food again. I wouldn’t even dare call it decent texmex. Overall the food just didn’t make the cut– guess we’ll have to go into Austin for good Mexican or TexMex food.

Great service, food, and drinks. Wish they had more TVs or those which I can hear. I’ve been going here for couple of years. Great salsa and people are always friendly. Sometimes people want to go where they are seen, but this is an off the beaten path place in front of Home Depot. No, it’s nothing fancy, but it is consistently good.

The BF and I frequent Mesa because the food is good and the margaritas are pretty decent. The manager is always working at the bar and he is really friendly. We had never had a bad experience there until last Friday night… So we arrive and are promptly seated by a sweet gal who says our waitress will be with us shortly. I guess 10+ minutes qualifies as «shortly»… No chips & salsa, no water, no waitress… I have to flag down the hostess to try to find our waitress. Not to mention, they are not extremely busy. So, Debbie(waitress) shows up and looks completely disheveled, aloof & was unapologetic for the wait. By then we already knew what we wanted to order: Me: «I want 1 burrito and 1 crunchy taco, a la carte» Debbie: «OK, do you want the chili sauce on the burrito?» Me: «Yes» 15 minutes go by and some other girl shows up at the table and says, «crunchy taco special?» Me: «No, I had 1 burrito and 1 taco.»(Expecting them to arrive on the same plate, or at least at the same time) So she leaves and then Debbie returns with an attitude and says, «Didn’t you have the taco?» Me: «Yes, with a burrito.» Debbie: «Well the taco always comes out first.» Me: «I would like to eat the taco and burrito at the same time, not have the taco as an appetizer, plus I would like to eat with my boyfriend who does not have his food yet.» Debbie: «We’ll that’s how it always is… Taco comes out first.» Then she brings me the same taco which is somewhat cold by now. She then brings me a burrito, with a side of rice and beans. Me: «I ordered an a-la-carte burrito and taco with no rice and beans.» Debbie: «You said burrito plate» Me: «Uh, no I didn’t and I wouldn’t because I don’t like rice and beans. I specifically said A LACARTE.» Debbie: «We don’t have an a-la-carte burrito.» Me: «Well you should have made that clear whenever I tried to order it.» Debbie: Sighs…“I guess i won’t charge you for the rice and beans.“ I am already super annoyed by this point. Instead of apologizing, she is arguing! Don’t argue with me, Debbie! You took my dang order and should have caught that! Whatever… The BF’s margarita came out right before the food and I never got a refill of my water, which was basically empty. She then brings the check and sets it on the table without asking if we would like anything else. The BF wanted another margarita, but guess that is out of the question. Then, just like a cherry on top of a cake, Debbie drops off our styrofoam to-go box and spills salsa all over the table! Goodness gracious! I have never experienced that level of horrible service anywhere… Everyone has bad days, but this was over-the-top. It stinks because I like Mesa, but next time we will probably head to Maudie’s instead.

I’m giving Mesa Rosa five stars to offset the bad reviews; normally, I would have given it four stars(because no one is perfect). Every time we have patronized Mesa Rosa, it has been great. I very much enjoy their chips and salsa(in my Top Three, so far), as well as everything else I’ve ordered. The service has always been excellent, and the décor is very well done for a strip-mall location.

You will be seated and have a margarita in hand within 5 minutes of entering the door. The food will be good. The service will be good. The drinks will be good. You don’t have to dress up here. No reservations. Just come. If you want to wait in line go somewhere else –or– if you want to go somewhere to show off your new overpriced hand bag… go somewhere else. Only come here if you want good food at a good price with good service. All provided quickly and affordable.

I’m basking in my Tex-Mex food coma after enjoying some good food and excellent service at Rosa Mesa. The tortilla soup was full flavored, not watery like at some places and they definitely didn’t skimp on the avocado. There was at least half a slice in my soup. The flamitos were spicy, super crispy(as fried food should be), but again filled with flavor. Unlike a jalapeño popper, this preparation of stuffed chicken with jalapeño and cheese added the heat without the bitterness of the pepper. Very tasty. It came with 2 dipping sauces, a ranch and a sweet BBQ flavored sauce. All of the entrees come with the ability to add one of 7 house sauces. I went the easy route with an enchilada covered in chile con crane. My eating companion ordered the fire roasted chipotle sauce which he loved. I had charro beans, which had bacon in it and tried the refried beans which I thought were better. The only gripe I had was the rice was ordinary and without much flavor despite the obvious saffron color. The portion sizes were large and due to the appetizers and chips & salsa, I actually only had room for a few bites of my entrée. The price was equally surprising, with 2 entrees, 2 appetizers and a tip it was still under $ 40. The service was impeccable. I never had an empty glass and my special order change to my meal was delivered as requested. As was the change to the chipotle sauce mentioned above. The waiter was attentive without seeming pushy or nosy. Overall a very good experience and I plan to return.

Atmosphere and Cleanliness: Clean and inviting Service: Ready and Staffed for Business Food: Flamitos a Must to order… Queso was enjoyable… Both dishes tasted great… Worth the Adventure: Yes, for menu selection alone. I think this would be a great place to take visiting relatives from out of town… great place to take the family out.
