Poor poor poor service. Secret charges added at the end of meal. Good was alright. Can’t imagine a good reason to come back.

I love Persian food! Today went for lunch with my friend to The Kabob House. What a disappointment! The service was horrible. The owner is rude and unpleasant. The waiter do not speak any English. They don’t even offered water. The dry rice was wormed up in the microwave and kabob was under-cooked and had no flavor at all. I have eaten in this establishment twice and had bad experience twice, but today was my last time. Stay away from this place… it’s not good!

Had Dinner there last eve. We were very disappointed. The service was horrible and the waiter was short and rude. Asked questions did not understand and walked away. The chicken kobob was dry and no flavor! The highlife of eve when we left.

I have eaten here twice and both times the service was very very poor. No refills on water. Didn’t offer use to order anymore of the bread so we could even eat our appetizer that was a dip. on both times the chicken was dry and tasteless and so was their nasty rice. I should have know that the place was bad because the both times I visited the place my party was the only one in the restaurant. They had a few to go orders, but no one in the dinning area at peak dinning times. I tend to give restaurants a three times your out, but I think that this is a two times your out. The only good thing I can say about my experiences is that the ground filet kabob didn’t suck, but it was mostly made of ground lamb with a hint of ground chuck, not fillet mignon.

I ate here last week. The food was good, chicken kebab was fresh and not dry. I also tried their home made yogurt drink with mint. Service was good, friendly. They checked on us a few times and ensure they accommodated what we requested. They are also very flexible with their orders. U can replace rice with salad or have both rice and salad half-n-half, which is good if you don’t want to load up on rice or get additional side salad.

Went here for an early dinner on Sunday night. When we left there were 2 other couples in the restaurant. Service was unfriendly and slow. Food was overpriced. Steak tasted ‘off’. Salad was good however. We were charged each 1.00 for a ‘cheese’ plate which included about 10 pads of butter, 2 small pieces of feta and some store bought flat bread with an entire raw onion that was brought to us when we sat down. We were not given an option — just an automatic charge per person. That prickled me.

Several issues with this restaurant. For starters, the service is very poor… I went in with my wife and son. When ordering, we put in an order for each of us and when it came time to take our drink orders my wife put in her drink order, I put in mine, then the server just walked away completely ignoring my son’s order. He disappeared for a while and then returned with our food. He served my wife and I but not my son. I guess my son is invisible to this guy… After telling him how he also ignored my son’s drink order in addition to forgetting his food, he became very defensive and in an almost angry tone he blamed US for not putting in his food and drink order which is absolutely ridiculous! Instead of apologizing and correcting the problem he scolds us. We were ready to walk out but we kept calm and waited until he brought out my son’s plate since most of the food had already been served and it was pouring rain so we didn’t feel like finding another place to eat. In addition, he never once came to check on us to see how we are doing or if we need a drink refill. Until the very end he avoided us until I had to walk up to the counter and ask for boxes and my check. Not to be spiteful but the food wasn’t even good. The koobideh had a jello-like consistency. The rice wasn’t properly cooked, and the chicken was dry. I can’t believe I paid $ 18 a plate for this stuff. I don’t see this business lasting very long. We will NEVER return to this place ever again!

The kebabs are in good quality. I go here occasionally and usually have kebabs. There are plenty of rice everytime so I order half/half. The host is not super friendly but he pays attention to his food.

Hands down the best kabob place in Portland. I’ve been to Iran many times and I have to say the food at kabob house is very authentic.

I came to this place before even seeing the Unilocal reviews for it. We were in the area and decided to come in for food. After reading the reviews, I’m a little bit surprised at all the negatives. We had the best food and great service from start to finish. We came in and seated ourselves and the owner came right away to give us our menus. We chatted with him a little– and he was very nice. He brought out the cheese and flatbread– then we ordered item #5 — chicken kabob and koobideh with rice. He also brought out a appetizer– some sort of hummus looking thing, don’t remember what it was called but it was good. When out food came out I was immediately hit with the most mouth watering aroma– it smelled SO good. The food was delicious– so juicy and fresh. I literally didn’t want the meal to end. I ate about half-was super full so boxed the rest to take home. It was a little pricey/$ 56 total but it was delicious. I do recommend trying it at least once!

Went here last night. Was horrible. Their koobideh taste like the microwaveable ones you buy from cheap halal meat shops, very slimy and gooey like ughh. The vibe I got from the owner and employees is that they just want your money and not care about the customer.

I really enjoy this charming spot for a great lunch. It’s great home cooked food. No microwaves here. Always fresh and good portions. It’s not cheap, but I prefer to eat quality meals and don’t mind paying a fair price.

Horrible experience!!? Do not go here! You will get ripped off and the owner will overcharge you on your bill. Avoid this place like the plague! Reporting him to the BBB today.

Since today was Nowruz, and I have had many Persian friends over the years who have gifted me with their homemade dishes, I thought I’d try this place for a lunch. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish(Shish Kabob) but there was no flavor and not a lot of meat. There was a lot of unflavorful plain rice(so-called saffron, but it certainly wasn’t the Persian rice my friends have cooked for me), a very little bit of beef with no flavor, and a lot of onion. And it cost 11 bucks for lunch. The people were nice enough. But I also noticed I was the only customer in the cavernous place at lunch, though Iranians seemed to be coming for carry-outs.

I’m very surprised by the negative reviews about Kabob House. I come here for lunch every now and then, and I find it to be delicious. I had the combination kabob(ground beef and chicken). The salad is always wonderful. The waiter is very friendly. The old man(I think the owner) is grumpy, but I shrug it off as a cultural difference. Granted, they are very disorganized. It takes them forever to run a credit card. And if you want an itemized receipt — plan to spend an extra 15 minutes getting it. But the food is good and worth going to.

Have gone here for years and the food is very delicious however I picked up food last week and apparently did not leave a high enough tip(for my takeout order) because the amount they charged me is not what I put on the receipt. Will never go back. Sad day.

Do not go here! Heed the warnings of previous reviewers, I wish I had! I do not write bad reviews often. I don’t even write reviews often, but this deserved a few minutes of my time. I ordered take out last night, arrived to pick it up when I said I would, the owner was rude and very disinterested, and the place was EMPTY! Our food was cold, made way before I told him I’d arrive for pick up. The food. Ugh. Ordered two entrees and a small side salad for $ 41. Not cheap. The meals were mostly rice, with a few pieces of chicken in one. The beef one had one decent steak kebab and another that was the fattiest, greasiest rubbery meat I’ve ever seen, and again mostly rice. The salad was just okay, cucumbers and tomatoes. So I paid $ 41 for mostly rice, cucumbers, tomatoes and a few small pieces of edible meat. A complete rip off. Oh, and the tiniest little pieces of bread that come with it was awful, tasted like it was stale flat bread from Fred Meyer. There are so many great Middle Eastern restaurants in Portland, which I will happily drive a few extra minutes to get to and wait in line for a seat. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in this city of great food options.

My mind is boggled reading some of these other reviews. Like I can read what you’re writing but it sounds soooo far from what i have ever experienced at Kabob house that i cannot believe we are talking about the same establishment. Service-wise, I often am greeted and assisted by Mr. Saeed and he has been nothing but kind to me. The only thing my husband and I ever order it seems is Koobideh, Soltani, and Salmon. I think we would rate them in that order as well. I guess that’s what Unilocal is for, all kinds of super different experiences, mine though was great– both dining in and to-go. Finally comment to sum up our adoration: We will drive from the Portland Waterfront to Beaverton just for the Koobideh alone because it IS consistently delicious, and we crave it.

This place is over priced, has a very rude owner, and has bad service. The food is just OK. I strongly believe that the owner should change his attitude towards the customers if he wants to remain in business because I have heard a lot of people complain about his rudeness. Well, he does not do a favor by serving to people who come in and pay for what they eat and who help him make his living. $ 14 for a chicken kebob is ridiculously high priced. The meat served is stale and chewy. There are places in town where you not only get better persian food and better service at a reasonable price but also want to return for the experience. I see this places does not know how to keep customers. You should be careful when you walk to the counter to pay because the owner charges your card more that what he is supposed to or what your actual bill is for. If you catch him doing that, he would say that the extra charge is for for the cheese and bread. This cheese and bread is actually supposed to be complimentary and is brought in for all tables before you order. Cheating is not a good sign in this business. I would not return to this place, would you if you have a similar experience?
