This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Beaverton area. They have nice ambiance, food spice level is just about right.

The place is decent and service is good but Their food can use a little more work. I can see why the place often is pretty empty.

Planet Thai has excellent food at an affordable price. I’ve tried almost every dish on the menu and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. They have an excellent variety of specialty drinks. The Bangkok Ice Tea is my favorite. I would highly recommend Planet Thai!

Three stars for the food, zero stars for service. We’ve been here a couple of times, and we’ve always had good food. The pot stickers and garliky chicken are our favorites. Both times, though, the service has been lacking. We literally had to stand up and get our own plates and silverware at one point. My wife is in the restaurant biz so we know how it all works. All we really ask for is prompt service and full water glasses. This place falls short of even though simple asks. Recommend it for take out. Not dine in.

Since moving up here I have discovered two truths: 1. Granola is it’s own food group and 2. Pacific Northwest Natives can’t handle spicy food. I have acknowledged and am coping with the first truth but I refuse to allow the second. This was laid to rest after visiting Planet Thai. Let’s get started with the atmosphere. It is perfect. A great setting for a dinner, meeting, date or one of those awkward run-ins with an ex. Moody lighting, exotic flair, an aquarium that is very relaxing. Let’s just say that sitting in this joint will make you wonder when Henry Mancini’s ghost will come out and start up a jazz band. On to the food! I have mentioned my inability to NOT eat spicy food, right? Right. So, I was expecting a watered down version of Thai Hot when I ordered my meal. So, either the waitress saw that I wasn’t joking or there was a chemical spill in my batch of food. I was convinced I was eating plutonium with chicken and noodles. Holy Moly! SOGOOD!!! They nailed the heat and the flavours were absolutely divine. To top it all off, some of the best Thai Iced Tea I’ve had in a long while. I highly recommend this place to any one looking for something new or you just enjoy good Thai cuisine. Check this place out… Now.

The fried rice here is awesome. I have not tried Thai fried rice but now I have! When I was there the plain steamed rice awkwardly looked good. That doesn’t happen that often. I sat near the fish in the restaurant. I thought they were funny so good atmosphere!

Good for Happy Hour. Bad for lunch. Allow me to explain. The HH menu has an array of affordable small plates. These typically arrive quickly and tend to be more out-of-the-box than the general menu. The lunch menu is your standard run-of-the-mill Thai offerings but executed poorly. Too much sauce. Too soggy. Little flavor. Slow service.

WOW, I don’t write many reviews on Unilocal but I must say I just had to after my experience here at Planet Thai. This restaurant had a really great feel as soon as you walk in. The servers will quickly greet you and get you sat. We got started with the wings and salad wraps and they were both really delicious. The peanut sauce that came with the salad wraps was hands down the best peanut sauce I have ever had. Of course we had to try the pad Thai and it had good flavors and the right amount of tang to it. One adventurous dish that we tried was the Three flavors tilapia. The fish was cooked perfectly and it was accompanied with a great sauce and a side of rice. The prices were reasonable for what you get. Definitely a place everyone must try at least once.

I can only review the happy hour menu, but I was very pleased with it. My choices were vegetarian salad rolls, which were served with a yummy peanut coconut milk sauce, and a tofu phad thai that was well-spiced. Top that off with a frosty beer and it was the perfect light supper. Portions are perfect for me — even brought some phad thai home for lunch the next day. Bigger eaters could polish off portions easily at a sitting. Would like to explore the rest of their menu. Location is great for me, because it’s right by a MAX stop on my way home. Nice to have an alternative to Mio Sushi, which at the same location, is okay but not great. Hope Planet Thai does well here. Service was attentive, almost a little too attentive. You won’t be forgotten here.

Hands down, the best Thai I’ve had in Beaverton! Everything was perfect! The atmosphere, food and service was top notch. I’ve had the Tropical Fried Rice and it was amazing! Today I had the Pad Thai and it was packed with flavor! This is my new favorite restaurant! We started with potstickers and tofu salad rolls. The potstickers were cooked perfectly and nice and light, unlike other restaurants where they can be thicker and more doughey with hardly any filling. The salad rolls were very fresh and tasty and come with side of warm peanut sauce. My companion had Drunken Noodles that were just a tad too spicy for this wimp, but had a wonderful taste. I would definitely order that dish, but I would just ask for mild. The service was wonderful! AJ was very friendly and made really good suggestions. He was attentive, but didn’t hover. We’ll be celebrating a friend’s birthday next week and I was lucky enough to be the one to choose the location. We will definitely come here!

I’ve been meaning to get this review posted for some time. I was a Typhoon regular — being that I worked very close — so a new Thai restaurant was interesting to me. I was happy with Planet Thai’s lunch service. The food was served hot and there was a great spice to it. My go-to Thai dish — Spicy Chicken with Basil — came with chunky chicken, not ground, and a choice of white or brown rice. I enjoyed the dish, though it was not nearly as good as the former restaurant that occupied this location… but it was also half the price! The service was attentive, though I was served white rice instead of brown, as I requested. That’s a minor issue. The décor is nice, with a large tropical fish tank and high-backed, dark-stained booths. The traffic flow is better than before, especially since there are no booths or seats directly by the bathroom or server station. I’m looking forward to going back.

The food here is ok, not great. When they first opened, the portion sizes were smaller than usual, but that has improved since. The service is very friendly, but slow. I go here during lunch time sometimes because it is walking distance of where I work and have noticed that even when there are hardly any customers there, it still takes awhile to put in orders and get food/drinks.

I often wondered what would come in the place of Typhoon. I didn’t go to Typhoon very much, as I always forgot it was there. Same for this place. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I try not to put too much expectation into something new. We went in over a lunch time, it was not too packed. Lots of places to get seated– we were seated by the fish tank. Nice view. I ordered the Shrimp fried rice, BF had the chicken pad Thai, was a great time to eat. For a starter we had the chicken wings– which were quite a surprise, they did something to the wings where weren’t quite full of bones like usual ones. Hard to describe. You’ll just have to order some. I had the rice paper wraps, which were I thought, were absolutely yummy! I’m not really keen on the peanut sauce and enjoy the other sauce that sometimes you can order with it. Mmm makes me hungry thinking about. I did not have any complaints and would go again. I’m not sure I will since it’s tucked away in a hidden spot, but I would go again. Great for a business lunch or dinner or casual meal. I took some photos of the food, sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words.

When you walk in to the establishment, you feel like your in a five star restaurant. Love the décor and the wait staff is very knowledgable. Seeing the open kitchen was impressive too. However, the Beat part of all was the food! To start off, I had the Street Vendor wings. Absolutely awesome. For the main dish, I ordered Seafood Rad Na. O MYGOSH, it was so good! One of the cooks even came out and asked if everything was good. People here are so kind. I will be coming back real soon! Thank you for a great experience!!!’

When I walked in this new Beaverton restaurant I felt a sense of déjà vu. It is almost identical to it’s previous incarnation, Typhoon. I loved Typhoon, so I was very happy! We ordered the salad rolls and they were very fresh and crispy. The sauce served with them was the star. It was divine. I wanted to eat it with a spoon, but that would be tacky, maybe? We also had the veg pad Thai. It was very good, with lots of well cooked veggies. Really, the best pad Thai I’ve had in a long time. There is also a full bar! Our waiter was nice, but inexperienced as to be expected in a new place. He said the owners are planning to have a happy hour in the future. Check it out if you are looking for good Thai food in a lovely atmosphere.

A great new addition to the round! Beaverton has some barely average Thai options, so when I Started to see/read that a new spot was in the works for he former Typhoon! Space, I was psyched. Having only been open three days, I was expecting the usual new restaurant kinks that had yet to be worked out. But nope, these folks were on point. The atmosphere is warm but still fits into the vibe of the other round restaurants. Most importantly, the food was fantastic as was it’s presentation(in large serving bowls). We started with our basic dishes(rice and noodles) and our expectations were exceeded in terms of flavor, quality, portions, and spice. The spice racks, optional for your table, had a couple blends that don’t come standard in your typical chili-sauce-in-the-jar rack, so we enjoyed experimenting with those. Can’t wait to go back and try more complex flavors and dishes, especially in the summer when the music is playing and the windows are open. Definitely recommend.
