Nikki Sushi & Steak

The sushi was great! Dragon roll was phenomenal, one of the best sushi rolls I’ve had. The service was really what pushed me from a 4 to a 5. It’s a little spendy, but very good quality, and it’s Progress Ridge so the price is expected. My boyfriend and I each had an alcoholic drink (we recommend the coconut elixir and the blue Hawaiian) and were beyond full when we left and the bill was still below $ 50 so it’s definitely reasonable.

While I was not a huge fan the first time I came I have been back for sushi several times, most recently yesterday. Their sushi is awesome, I love the Philly roll. The service yesterday was especially good. Our server was so kind to our 10 month old daughter– she’s great in restaurants but our services picked up a dropped toy and cup. My husband had the Halloween roll– which he said was great but it looked a little cumbersome to eat– the pieces were large. Sadly we don’t have sushi in Newberg but we like visiting this shopping center at Progress Ridge.

Not bad! We had lunch there and they have some good lunch specials. We tried the bento box which had a nice variety of foods and the Hibachi lunch which tasted better than the bento box but didn’t have as much items. Service was a little slow, but there was only one server there. Would try again.

We’ve been here twice and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and staff each time. The veggie tempura is surprisingly good and affordable. Spanish Mackarel sushi is excellent, and both the hibachi chicken and hibachi prawns are delicious. The only minor shortcoming on our last visit was that there was about a 7 – 8 minute lag between the two of us with grill orders being served and the one of us with a sushi order being served. However, I can certainly cut them some slack since there were in effect two different chefs preparing the orders. If we had ordered 3 steaks and there was a wait that would be one thing but with two completely distinct food types and chefs involved it is more understandable. Overall, we really enjoy this place. It’s also in a fun location.

This place is awesome been going here for quite sometime and it deserves a review. Whenever my mom or girlfriends and I are in the mood for some sushi this is our only spot! The food is so fresh and service is so friendly! Would recommend to anyone! Happy I finally posted a review about this place since they deserve it!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Would not recommend and I will never return. The food was pretty good but the waitress was so rude and was talking about our table with the wannabe hipster bartender so loud we could hear them. Probably should have asked to talk to the owner but if they keep staff around like that I really don’t care about it. The WORST two food service workers at Progress Ridge.

My husband does sushi I don’t. This place looked perfect with their hibachi options in addition to the sushi menu. I ordered the filet hibachi, it was served with fried rice, vegetable and house salad. I ordered my steak medium but it came out rare, so I sent it back and it came back medium rare. I wasn’t able to eat it (I am not stupid, I wasn’t about to send it back a second time). For $ 18 bucks I was a little disappointed. The salad was good (really good actually), but the rice was just ok. My husband had the rainbow roll and he said it was «decent». Decent in his world means edible but not memorable. I wouldn’t choose this place again, nor would I recommend it, but if it were the only place open within driving distance it’s better than starving.

Being someone who only eats sushi at Syun, I wasn’t expecting this place to be anything special. I’m actually pleasantly surprised.
Yes, it is a tad expensive, however that is never a negative mark in my book, you get what you pay for and its worth at Nikki.
The sushi is fresh and the simple rolls are done well in their classic tradition. The fancy rolls are great. Try the Fairy Roll, the mango sauce is amazing.
The hibachi steak is a must try. Cooked with precision and full of flavor.
Kids eat free Sunday’s and Monday’s, now that’s a bonus! In addition their happy hour is reasonable.
Staff is courteous and attentive. I’d highly recommend Nikki Sushi & Steak. 5 stars.

I really like this place. The sushi has always been very fresh and the stAff has always been really nice.

Expect to wait at least 20 minutes before a waitress even acknowledges you, let alone seats you at a table. Food is average but waitstaff needs to greatly improve before I give them my business again. Will not be back any time soon.

This place is in a nice location in the Progress Ridge area along the lake. We sat and ate outside during the summer. The sushi was amazing! Definitely good quality and beautiful presentation. I honestly cannot remember what we ordered, but both rolls were amazing! I think one of the roll was the Spicy Crispy Tuna Roll. A little on the spendy side, but typical for good quality fancy sushi rolls. I will definitely come back and try their other rolls.

Beautiful, delicious sashimi! It was fresh and delicious and oh so unctuous. My favorite was the white tuna which I have never had before. My husband loved the rosemary chicken and broccoli. We’ve been back several times since. And the presentation is beautiful. Almost too beautiful to eat… Almost. This is a special occasion type of place since it’s pricey but great food!

Have trouble finding good sushi since moving from Houston to NM. Visited Willamette Valley labor day weekend and found this place.
All rolls we tried were great. Fish was fresh and clean tasting. Offered brown rice which I like. Wine selection could be better especially for the region.
Overall a nice place with good food.

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Me and my friends had a blast and we ate a bunch of awesome food! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food here!

If it wasn’t for the really good waitress we had, I would have given one star. This place is not for anyone who wants real Japanese food. Fried rice with our main course and our tempura flakes were mixed into the spicy tuna, not on top so there was no crunch. And they weren’t able to get the miso soup right either. It was watery.
We won’t be back.

Tempura — great (seems to be using good and fresh oil/​7 out of 10)
Orange chicken — very high price for okay quality (5 out of 10).

I ordered the hibachi combo (I chose to get the steak and shrimp). The steak was over cooked (I ordered it medium rare and it came out well), which was disappointing. The quality was passable. My boyfriend ordered a sushi and sashimi plate and it was okay. The quality of the fish wasn’t great. No flavor, and sort of dry. The servers and host were very friendly, however, and they let us eat my birthday cupcakes, even though I brought them in from a bakery.

Full bar!!! And it’s nice as well :) it’s a pretty bar that’s large that sits in the center of the restuarant with a large flat screen TV. Sports were on for you guys:)
We found this place late at night and quite by accident. I think those are the best kinds of finds!
The sushi was quite tasty and presentation lovely.
The menu is large and this place will pretty much do what you want even if it’s not on the menu which is always nice.
What this place specializes in I think are rolls– we ordered a few different kind and they were visually pretty, the rice was perfect and they were delicious. They also order nigiri and those prices are typical.
While we didn’t order the Love Boat special it looked great.
I tried the following:
* Pink Lady
Spicy Salmon, shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, tobiko wrapped w. soybean paper. Topped w. spicy & eel sauce. I loved this the favors meshed really well.
* Buddy Roll
Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna topped w. spicy shrimp, eel, avocado, tempura flakes, drizzle. This was yummy and different.
And yes I bit it and ordered:
Sex on The Beach Roll
Shrimp tempura & spicy tuna topped w/​yellowtail, avocado & caviar

We tried the filet hibachi — that experience was lovely, tender and the steak almost melted in my mouth.
Someone else in our party I think ordered grilled Chilean Sea Bass– and I remember being delicious.
They even serve ribs! Who knew?!
Ok non food bummers– the toilet was broken and I had to fix it to flush. Something in the tank was off kilter. Sort of freaked me out but hey sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and do what ha gotta do.

Waited for 10+ min at the vacant hostess station to be seated in a dining room that was only at ¹⁄₆ capacity. No I’ll be right with you, nada. Finally we are seated and begin to wait another 20 minutes with only a glass of water. Still no acknowledgment from server — we slowly pick up our purses amd walk out. Won’t be back. I was ridiculously unimpressed.
