This was delicate and delicious, prepared beautifully, the batter was crunchy, the fish was tender and juicy. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. It’s a very nice place to bring friends and family.

I don’t get why McGrath has low ratings. I’ve been here twice in the past 2 months and have left full, happy and well taken care of. They have kids meals that start at $ 3.99 which includes entrée, side, drink and ice cream dessert. That is cheaper than a fast food happy meal and a lot healthier! The adult entrée comes with a huge coleslaw or, better yet, a huge house salad. Got the fried clam meal and the shrimp fried meal and left happy! Fresh sourdough hot bread with butter to start as well!

Our waiter was fantastic. I hate that I didn’t get his name. We had dinner here for my birthday & the food was delicious. For appetizers, we had the char broiled oysters & calamari. The Oysters were the best we’ve had in a restaurant. We usually always order oysters when we see them on the menu, but restaurants like to add their own spices & twist if they are not served raw. I haven’t liked any oysters that I’ve ordered in a restaurant till here. LOVEDTHEM! The calamari was light & the sauce was awesome. Dinner bread & salad was good, nothing special. For entrees, we had the seafood fettuccine. Very flavorful & delicious! Hubby had the steak & crab legs. Let’s just say he order one to go home, so it was that awesome. We will definitely be going back!

Terrible service. Sad this used to be our goto restaurant. Over the past 18 months the service has gone down hill. Drinks are not as ordered. Entrees are brought at different times with the incorrect side dishes and wilty salads or cold soup. Last time(April 2013) we waited 84 mins for our meals… took so long to get water I timed it. After an hour we couldn’t leave because all other restaurants are closing.

I was wary of coming here because the one I went to in another state as not all that great. I think I should have stuck with my feelings. Pros: The service. The stuffed mushrooms. Cons: The breading is too thick on the fish and made it mushy tasting. And everything was just bland. The mozzarella sticks, the fish, even the coleslaw and clam chowder. Putting lemon and vinegar did little to help the fried foods and pepper helped the coleslaw a bit. I imagine if I went again, it would be for happy hour alone for drinks(as they all looked good and other people have raved about them), and for more of the stuffed mushrooms.

The service was astounding. The waitress was awesome and their drinks are great, especially their Jamaican smoothie. The food was terrible. My husband ordered a fire grilled trout with a side of broccoli and red potatoes and I had the Fried halibut with shrimp and fries; both of us received a salad. The trout had no seasoning what-so-ever, none. It didn’t even taste like it was smoked. The broccoli tasted like fish. The fried fish was cooked but very very soggy, shrimp, the pieces that had cooked batter on them, were great. The best food that we had there were the fries, complimentary sour dough bread, salad, and drinks.

We ordered the clam chowder and shrimp Louis. Salad was good the clam chowder was not hot. It did taste good! Service was a little slow and I asked for more 1000 islands and so far it has not arrived!

Hopefully the managers of McGrath’s notice a trend in the reviews for extremely rude service– even before or instead of at the restaurant. Tonight was the second time in the last month we’ve changed our minds about dining at McGrath’s after rude phone conversations. Tonight, I called to see what time they closed. The guy that answered was obviously annoyed that he had to answer the phone, and when he said«We close at nine. Bye», I replied, «Oh, the website says you close at 10. Glad I verified. You should let your manager know the website is wrong.» His response, «Yeah, whatever. We close at nine. The website isn’t my problem.»

If you have any food allergies don’t bother coming here. They don’t really cook food as they reheat and assemble plates. If Gordon Ramsey was here he would vomit out the poor slab of salmon that gave its life to be horribly over cooked. This fish felony was after they tried to serve my mom the exact thing she is allergic to. If the waitress hadn’t had a second thought about my mom eating it would have resulted in needing to administer an epi pen and call 911 because your cooks don’t understand the words NODAIRY! In the past we all have had amazing meals here but they must not have a head chef anymore. It’s so sad we can no longer come here. At the very best they comped her meal and gave us a coupon for a free appetizer. Hurray… NOT! The waitress was wonderful and she was trying. It’s sad that she has to try and cover for a kitchens incompetence.

McGraths is a generally reliable place, generally serving tasty food. Some side items not well-balanced: pear, blue cheese, and walnut salad lacked seasoning and friend yam shreds on top were flavorless. My main dish was plank-roasted rainbow trout with a baked potato. Those were great, but the steamed vegetables would’ve been better if cooked differently or left off entirely. We will be back, knowing what is in store for us. Sometimes that’s just what you want.

We initially came to McGrath’s because we received an ad with a coupon in the mail and it looked great, so we thought we’d give it a go. The atmosphere was enjoyable, that’s pretty much the only reason why I’m giving this two stars; that and the staff were nice. I was super excited because I love seafood but I was disappointed when the food was greasy and bland, even the soda I had tasted gross? I really wanted to like this place but didn’t. I wouldn’t recommend this to friends. You might as well go to Red Lobster.

Not bad, would of liked more options at the raw bar but other than that all was tasty. Non fish options a plenty for the squeamish

Meh! Me and a friend were craving for good seafood before a movie time last night. Stumble around this place hoping for delicious food we got it, seated right away, but took a while for the waiters to come in. Long story short, I ordered the crab legs with sides of double coleslaw, shared calamari and half shelved oyster with my friend. Result: my crab is cold stone just warm! I wanted to send it back but we were rushing for the movie time. Hoping for the best I won’t get food poisoning I ate a bit! Ohhhh remind me not to come here again I got no meat on my crab legs!!! Oyster wasn’t really fresh! My friend didn’t like her calamari either! I wasted $ 25 on crab lol

This was our first time here and we were super excited as we are seafood enthusiasts. We arrived just before 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday and there were not many people here. We were seated right away… sadly from there our service went downhill. We were at our table for at least 10 minutes with no staff checking on us or even taking our drink order. I had to flag down someone who I assume is a manager who went to check for us, then came back to tell us that our server was busy«getting salads and desserts ready». No apologies or offers to even bring some water. Finally, 5 minutes later our server arrived, no smiles and a horrible table side manner. At that point we were ready to order. We got a hard lemonade and an iced too, both of which were 90℅ ice 10℅ beverage, which for those prices is ridiculous. We ordered the calamari appetizer which was great, very light on the breading and a tasty dipping sauce, and two raw oyster shooters which only got an «alright» on my fiancees tasty scale. Also had a side of clam chowder… I’ve had better. For our entrees we ordered the Admirals platter which was a little bit of everything, stuffed shrimp(amazing), coconut prawns, scallops, lobster tail(delicious but a little salty) and crab legs(a bit on the anorexic side which I’m hoping is only because it was part of a sampler platter). My fiancée ordered the Seafood Astoria, seafood in a creamy sauce with a side of pasta, warm full flavors, loved this dish. Overall the food was good. I would come back for the food alone, sadly the service was not up to par so even though I would come back this wouldn’t be my first choice because of the service. I will however try again, hopefully the service will be better next time.

Been here a few times with my girlfriend, and we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. I will admit, I’m not at all a fan of seafood(though my girlfriend loves the tuna and salmon!) so I go with the steak. Every time I’ve been here my steak has been cooked to the perfect temperature. John’s hard lemonade(or something to that effect) is absolutely delicious. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, even helped us save a few bucks on our first trip in! Prices are great, especially happy hour! Also, I love the vintage/steampunk-esque atmosphere. Perhaps Jules Verne was the interior decorator? :-) Anyways, this has become one of my favorite spots in Beaverton, and I will definitely be back for more!

John McGrath is the owner of this chain of seafood houses. this is just not good seafood and a lot of it comes out of the box. they do have a good following but again, there must be a lot of people out there that don’t know what good seafood is. the clam chowder is just fair, and I’m not sure they really make it. by that I mean it probably comes in a bag and they reheat it same things that moes does. I’ve tried the salmon and its was not a firm piece of fish there a lot of other seafood places around to do a much better job

YAR! BLOWMEDOWN! Ok folks. I wasn’t expecting knock me off my feet crazy smack my mouth kinds of things here. In part because some of my wife’s co workers don’t care for the food here. But you know what. I think they are wrong. We had a very decent meal! No joke. Now I was craving something simple, fish and chips, and the wife just wanted light. She picked a Parmesan crusted halibut. Perfectly cooked. Very moist, buttery, and not priced out of this world. My fish and chips were exactly what I was craving. Lightly battered, HOT, fresh, and crispy. The boy ordered Mac and cheese(so that was nothing to go crazy over, but he loved it). My daughter got fish and chips as well. The portions are quite large, we took lots home. Even the kids meals were kinda huge. So great value for money. We tried the Irish nachos. Not bad. Different. Personally I would have not used the cheese sauce due to the potatoes used, but hey, not my call. I started with a «small» blue cheese wedge salad. It was ok, more like a chef salad minus the turkey and ham. Wife tried the chowder, it was better than most if I do say so. For the unexpected. Dessert. The kids meals come with a scoop of ice cream. My daughter opted for the cotton candy flavor. Folks, this was like frozen cotton candy! It was amazing. I forgot the name of the vendor but I’m telling you it was so good the wife and I got a scoop! The meal was good. We will come back and try other options. When I can’t get to a small local place near the water, I’m glad we tried this place.

It’s always a struggle finding a good dinner place outside of Portland…=/ Took my chances with this place and wasn’t impressed. The service was warm and the décor was nice, but the food did not deliver… Ordered the cod and halibut with chips. It was suppose to come with salad and instead of giving us that, the waitress opted to give us «more fries». The order came out, and the fries was close to nothing… Ordered the wood fired halibut. The fish come like a oily piece of plastic. YUCK! Not coming back again…

This place isn’t too shabby and on my end of town. I love there is one of these that I don’t have to hike into downtown to enjoy. I really like the choices here but the food is kind of spendy and even worse if you get drinks. I usually go at lunch so drinks aren’t usually an issue. You can go right when the place opens and there will be no one there but that doesn’t last long. I always like the bar area, like I mentioned before you always get the best service at the bar, because you are right there and they don’t have to come to your table etc. Not that getting a table is a bad thing, but usually I drink and eat and being at the bar hits everything. I generally have an enjoyed the visits I have here. I was here on 6÷3÷13 and sat at a table. I ordered a hot tea and got the water at first but no tea. That was weird. Should have sat at the bar.
