The food was good, but pretty expressive. They charge extra for everything. I’m curious to see how they do with Chipotle moving in next door.

We’ve been there twice and each time the food was great. A huge menu… Great servers too!

I have enjoyed this spot. I usually get the smaller portion meals, like 2 enchiladas with rice & beans. My hubby has gotten some kind of carne asada soft tacos. My only tiny gripe is that this place is kinda pricey. The staff is real nice & I’ve never been disappointed with my food. I will give major props to this place for being open last winter when we had that ice/snow storm. We live across the street & when we couldn’t drive our car anywhere and everyone else was closed, this place was open. Talk about the staff being troopers!!!

I’ve been reviewing restaurants for a while now, most of them presenting Mexican cuisine since I have travelled extensively in Mexico and have lived in New Mexico the last ten years or so. Raised in Texas, I know my Mexican food and can make a qualified report that the food we had today in Juan Colorado’s was absolutely the worst Mexican food I have ever paid for. When we walked into JC’s today, we thought OK, here is a clean, bright restaurant with nice appointments, we’re in for a good meal. WRONG!!! First off, the prices were extreme — at least 40 to 50% higher than I would have expected. Maybe it is a high-rent district I told myself. Because of the high prices, we limited ourselves to the Appetizer and Salad section of the menu. My wife ordered the chicken quesadilla and I had the large taco salad. When the food arrived, the first thing we noticed was that the quesadilla was floating in what appeared to be grease. We never established if the place was using cheap yellow cheese or it was the chicken taken from a pot of stewed chicken — a possibility since it was of the exploded-chicken variety. The quesadilla was not recognizable as such. My wife declined to eat it so your’s truly was sentenced to consuming it. The taco salad was priced as the Deluxe Taco Salad, but came to the table in a medium-sized fried tortilla shell. I’ve had larger salads in school cafeterias that were better eating than this one. The meat was so finely chopped up that it had absolutely no texture to it whatsoever. The taco seasoning left the tooth-paste like consistency of the meat overly spiced in my book. Totally disappointed in this place. It is a shame that the food was sooooo over priced as the regular entrees deserved to be tested and rated, but I cannot see myself ever going back so it is what it is. Listen, if you want really good Mexican food, I think the lesson here is to be a little adventurous and seek out some of those more questionable places that just might be diamonds in the rough. The best Mexican food always comes out of the roughest looking kitchens.

Some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever come across. My burrito was soggy and bland. And the salsa wasn’t fresh and looked like it came right out of a bottle. I do not recommend.

Had such a wonderful experience at this place! My wife wanted to have a cheat meal a few weeks back and requested Mexican. There are a lot of places to choose but I am really glad we choose this one. It is becoming one of my local favorites. To start off I love the interior, colorful with paintings, makes for a warm and fun environment. The food portions were huge and the prices were fair. It tasted great too! I had a burrito and she had some nachos. Making enjoyment noises the whole time she scarfed it down, such a fun night!

Came in about 30 min prior to closing. Place just doesnt have the best layout. There was nobody else in the entire place. Thought they were actually closed. The food was middle to above average. The margaritas were decent. The price was good. We had 3 margaritas, two adult dinner options and a kids option. Under $ 50… Left with a full stomach and a mini-buzz. The chips and salsa are of good quality too.

Everything but the service was less than average. The customer service was good and attentive, the only reason for the second star. Definitely not authentic tasting. Everything could have used more flavor. Basically your typical Mexican chain restraint

The food is your typical Mexican American fare. Nothing to write home about but not the worst I have ever had. The only highlight was the fantastic salsa and the colorful murals.

After I first moved to Beaverton from Fort Worth, Juan Colorado kept coming up in conversation as a recommended place to get good Mexican food. My roommate and I went in one night to give it a shot. I ordered fajitas. It’s my go-to food when I’m trying out a new place like this as it’s both simple to prepare yet deceptively easy to prepare badly. The service was good. Place was clean. It was a weekday, so it wasn’t busy by any stretch of the imagination. The fajitas??? Not so good. I got a plate of shriveled-up dry meat swimming in a puddle of enchilada sauce. Not even good enchilada sauce. I’m sure I’ve had worse fajitas at some point somewhere, but with that said I haven’t returned. Nor do I plan to any time soon. I didn’t get the impression that it was any different than they normally served it, otherwise I might have reconsidered. The salsa was VERY cilantro-heavy. Way, way, way too cilantro-heavy. And I like cilantro…

This place is dirty. We went 2 weeks ago and ordered an Horchata with an extra cup for my son. As I poured the Horchata into son’s cup MULTIPLE dead fruit flies were mixed in with the cinnamon. I’m guessing that they have the Horchata in a large open container in the kitchen and the flies got stirred in prior to serving. I wish I would’ve taken a picture but we were so disgusted that we left immediately and walked across the lot to five guys. Serving food comes with a certain level of responsibility that Juan Colorado does not take seriously. **** read the other single star reviews ****

So a friend took me here and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised… it is in no way even close to authentic… it is very much the americanized mexican food type. But for being Americanized… it was pretty good. I got the chicken chimichanga… the mean was well seasoned, the beans creamy with cheese melted on top, the rice was great and over all I liked it. I ate a little over half and I am stuffed… like roll me out the door stuffed.

The shredded beef was greasy and the texture kind of tough. It was not on par with other Juan Colorado’s or other good Mexican restaurants in the area. I was pretty disappointed maybe they were just having an off night cooking but it was bad enough that I’ll never go back. You don’t really get to have of nights when you charge $ 10 – 15 an entrée. Either fix the problem or don’t serve the food. But it’s on the chef to know the food is not good.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican, you are in the wrong place. You are also in the wrong state. As a Southern Californian native, I’m fully aware of what genuinely good, authentic Mexican food is. However, for what it was, it was perfectly fine. Chips and salsa, check. Decent margaritas, check. The entrees were moderately priced, not cheap, but not expensive either. I think our bill came out to $ 45 for three entrees, I got chicken enchiladas, and they were fine. Nothing special, but it helped hit the craving for Mexican food that I was having. Service was average, but the waitress herself was sweet. It’s a casual location, and if you have a hankering for some Mexican food, go ahead and give it a try. They also have a Happy Hour, although I can no longer remember days and prices.

Bad food, and bad food. They are a typical Mexican food restaurant but the food is just sub-par. The service is decent and they have a bar, but the food is just terrible. The seasoning is seriously lacking and some parts of the plate are cold, while the rest is piping hot.

Initially I was very impressed. The location was casual but nice. Food tasted good but the size was rediciulous. I ordered to arroz con pollo. It was good but the flavor quickly became too much. Personal preference though. The gnats flying around the entire time would generally be regarded by most as annoying. All in all, I would go again, but not often.

We went here before going to see a movie at the Cinetopia. My wife liked the chicken chimichanga, my son liked the chicken diablo my daughter liked the vegitarian burrito and I enjoyed the shredded beef burrito. While we don’t always find places that we can all enjoy and appreciate, it’s great when one does. This place has comfortable, clean, well maintained seating, good service and good food. My family recommends it!

Stopped in and had the Chicken Enchilada Verde. Food was acceptable, service was very prompt and the place was filling up. This is a good place to stop in for a quick meal and satisfy that craving for Mexican Food if in the neighbor hood.

Juan Colorado is an absolute«go-to» for Americanized Mexican food. We’ve been visiting this particular establishment for years. One of my favorite aspects of Juan Colorado, admittedly unusual, is looking forward to what type of salsa you’re going to get. By «type», I mean what flavor is going to be most present. On any given particular day, it could be cilantro, it might be black pepper, or it may even be jalapenos. The only thing I know is that it’s made fresh, and made often. I like that. I have a few staples that I prefer at JC. First, and foremost, is the Tacos al Carbon. 3 double walled corn tortillas stuffed with grilled carne asada. Served, of course, with the requisite refried beans, rice and pico de gallo. Sometimes they’re more(or less) stuffed with meat, sometimes they’re charred a bit more, but no matter. I think this plate is delicious. Other favorites of mine include the Tacos al Pastor, the(chicken) Enchiladas Verdes and even the chicken flautas from the appetizer menu. What really makes this location special, though are the owner/operators, Jorge and Imelda. These are two truly wonderful, friendly people that my wife and I have wished nothing but success for. I’d recommend visiting this store just based on their level of service alone.
