Here on a Friday night, and really rushed. Not sure if I will be back. They were busy, but the wait was only about five minutes. We felt rushed from the time that we sat down.

Fun atmosphere, casual service, strong margarita, and good food. My fiancé and I split the two most popular dishes on the menu, and they were both great — the boudin quesadilla and fish tacos(but get 1 of each type of taco!). The missing star is because I felt the price was a little high for the proportion of food given.

Food is decent but the service is pretty bad. There are a bunch of surly young adults standing around and they aren’t crazy about service.

Came to visit family and was recommended by niece. We are glad we stopped in for lunch. Hubby had the gumbo and I the fish and shrimp combo which were both excellent. Great atmosphere to sit talk and sing. The owner came by our table multiple times and conversed about food and family. Definite stop every time we are down here again.

Tried this establishment out for the first time for lunch last week. I’ve always chosen Willy Burger right across the parking lot, but figured I would try something new. I love Mexican food and seafood so I figured it was a win win. I figured how could I go wrong with fish tacos as they do call this place a fish camp. The tacos were extremely bland. Next to no seasoning on the fish paired with cabbage and mozzarella cheese. I felt like I was eating play doh. I would suggest going fried on the fish as my coworker felt the same about his grilled fish plate. We also ordered some some salsa for an extra charge and it was probably the best part of our meal. Service was pretty good, but I will never again visit this establishment over the restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Extremely bland and overpriced food.

Great service and excellent food. Unfortunately, their prices have gone up a little. So it’s less lunch-friendly, IMO. I had the boudain quesadillas($ 11.99, a little expensive) and a small cup(6 oz) of chicken/sausage gumbo($ 4.99, again a little expensive). That said, this place is excellent, so I recommend it if you want a fusion of Mexican and Cajun foods.

I came here for brunch and the food was amazing! I love a good brunch menu and these guys certainly didn’t disappoint. Its hard to classify the food here in one particular genre, its not completely Mexican seafood and their is a sort of Cajun influence but there’s a sort of Cajun influence in everything in South East Texas. We got a few appetizers. First we had the Boudin Quesadilla’s, which were absolutely amazing! I’m a bit of a Boudin fan so these were a must for me, I also had an order of their Boudin Balls which were also excellent. The ranch dressing they came with tasted fresh and delicious also! I think they make the Boudin in house and its totally done proper! I ordered the Shrimp Quiche and when it arrived at the table I was completely blown away. The portion sizes here are huge and I can eat with the best of them but could not finish this. It came with a side of sausage balls and some home fries both were above average quality. The Quiche was also covered in some sort of creamy shrimp sauce, the whole dish was absolutely amazing! I will go back to Tia Juanita’s! If you are considering eating here just do it! The food is excellent!

Order the fish or shrimp tacos or the BIG Chef Salad with shrimp. You won’t be disappointed.

I walked in this place and I immediately felt comfy despite having to get the table for 1.(I usually head for the bar when dining alone but there wasn’t much of a bar so that wasn’t an option.) The music playing was the Stone and the place felt like a fishing camp. I was digging it. Then Mambo Number 5 came on and they lost all credibility. 2 weeks later that’s still stuck in my head! I order a beer. No beer on tap and their bottle selection is limited but they did have Shiner. I then ordered the Boudain quesadilla with a side of veggies. The quesadilla was great, flaky grilled tortilla, perfect amount of cheese slightly sliced boudain. A nice original dish. The quesadilla comes with guac, pico and a spicy ranch dip. The guacamole has a nice kick to it. Their veggies could be a lot better. They charge 3.99 for a side of veggies and all you get is bell peppers and zucchini. They could do better here I think. The menu is Mexican meets seafood with the emphasis on seafood. They have a cool«You catch it, we cook it» deal that I think is awesome! They also have a much more ambitious menu Tuesday-Friday…of course I was here on a Monday. They serve things like Nola BBQ Shrimp and shrimp and grits, 2 of my favorite dishes. They also have a Sunday brunch. My only gripes were the music at times, the veggies need work and they had tilapia on the menu. Uggh! You can almost throw a rock and hit the Gulf of Mexico from Beaumont. Get local fish, not some farm raised flavorless crap! The place is good though if you work through the menu. I’ll definitely be back. Next time I’ll go when I can get some bbq shrimp and hopefully hear better music.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted and sat. We didn’t wait long for our drinks and the waitress(who was very friendly) asked if it was our first time to eat with them. We told her it was and she immediately brought us out a sample of their chicken and sausage gumbo. The gumbo was very tasty! After looking over the menu, and unable to make up our minds, we asked what her recommendations would be. She suggested the fish tacos and boudain quesadillas, and also informed us that we could order items off of their special evening menu. She said that the menu stated they only serve the items on certain days of the week, but depending on the staff and shift, they could make an exception to this and we could order off of this menu tonight if we wanted to. She then proceeded to tell us of their best seller’s off this menu and we decided to go with items off of that! We ordered the bbq blackened shrimp over rice and the shrimp and grits. These items came with a side salad and the waitress informed us of each dressing we could get. We went with the jalapeño ranch and the avocado ranch(which is made in house). We also ordered 2 boudain balls. The salad and boudain balls came out quickly and they were extremely fresh. Both the jalapeño ranch and avocado ranch dressing were delicious and she offered to bring us more for our salads if needed. The waitress also paid close attention to my request for no tomatoes with my entrée and when my salad arrived, it also had no tomatoes. I was very impressed! The boudain balls came with a side of the jalapeño ranch. When our entrees arrived we were amazed! Both entrees looked delicious and the plate presentation was very nice! Towards the end of our meal, the waitress asked if we saved room for dessert. We were hesitant but asked what they offered. I’m not sure if they only have one dessert a day or if she suggested this because it was a favorite, but she told us about their 4 berry shortcake with whip cream on top and we decided to try it. We weren’t disappointed! The dessert came out fast and it was extremely good! I could have eaten the shortcake by itself! When she brought out our ticket, she also brought out a to-go menu. She explained that we could call in orders and come and pick them up, and also told us a little about their brunch that they offer on Sundays! I give Tia Juanita’s 5 stars! I will definitely be going back to try their fish tacos and their brunch! I would recommend this place to anyone!

I prefer the grilled food over the fried because it has way more flavor. The fish and shrimp tacos with a side of hush puppies is delicious. The jalapeño ranch that comes with the tacos is very good and not nearly as spicy and the salsa that also comes with the tacos. Atmoshpere is busy but unique and fun!

Good was very good and sever was very nice. Took our groups picture for us no problem, even stood on a chair to get everyone in the picture. I got the fried fish, with fries and hush puppies. The fish and fries were great. I didn’t eat the hush puppies. No particular reason. There was a band playing music which was nice. Where we sat we couldn’t hear the music which wasn’t bad. My only dislike of this place is that the shiner back bottles beer was expensive, like 4.75. Some of the parking lot is pretty jacked up. All and all a pretty good experience.

Went here for a friends birthday and had no idea what to expect. They accommodated our large group well and the food was amazing. First things first, it’s BYOB. For an appetizer I ordered the Boudain balls and they were big and good! For my main course I ordered 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco. They were AMAZING! Everything was seasoned well and now I often crave them lol My experience at this restaurant was great and I will be back.

I’m giving this place a 1 star because the lack of good service. I’ve never seen service so bad. I’ve been here over an hour with only my appetizer and my party received there’s at our hour mark and it was wrong… Just got my second refill of chips and salsa after I waited about 30 mins, still didn’t receive a request for our orders till we hunted a waitress down. Still waiting on food. Never coming back food is mediocre at best, to loud, horrible dining experience, and definitely not a family place. Everything service wise you can think of has been wrong… deeply unimpressed. Oh and the waitress just came up and said they lost our ticket!!! 8:29pm — Brandon Burns 03−27−15 8:23pm Friday

Wanted to try something different on a Thursday afternoon and I was not disappointed! Looking through other reviews, I decided to visit Tia Juanita’s due to the interesting mix of Cajun and Mexican cuisines. I had the fish tacos, my daughters ordered the boudin quesadilla, the popcorn shrimp and shrimp Po boy. The fish tacos were the most authentic I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many in all parts of the world. These were quite simply the best. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was top notch!(Thank you to our server, Kim, who was very attentive and helpful.) We will most definitely be back soon, and if you’re not decided get over there now!

Great service from start to finish by Ceasar Chavez, the General Manager… yes, that is his name! What a great Manager. The place is super cute with owners husband and wife, one a Cajun and one Hispanic per the General Manager. Menu caters to both Cajun and Tex– Mexican cuisines. Gumbo was good and I had ½ Roast Beef Poboy and cup of Seafood Gumbo which also came with fries. Very good! My husband had three Fish Tacos with Cilantro Coleslaw and a Jalapeño Mozzerella Ranch on Corn Tortillas. It was served with Charro Beans and Salsa. Husband said they were very good and he had a cup of gumbo too. For dessert, we had Bread Pudding with Champagne Sauce. It was OK, but would have been better with traditional Hard Sauce in my opinion. We will be back when visiting Beaumont and will try the fish next!

four stars are well deserved for the food and the service. First off, I do agree with others that the food is a bit pricey. That said, every item we ordered was generously proportioned. Chips and salsa. Whisper thin corn chips sprinkled with a spicy red magic dust. The salsa is special. Tomatoes and other veggies had been charred. The taste was spot on and a dead ringer for Papasito’s. Boudin quesadilla, y’all. Four big old crispy triangles of spicy, smoky, cheesy cross-cultural taste bud piercing deliciousness. Oh yeah, I liked ‘em. Sitting on the side of the serving dish was a taste trio of guacamole, jalapeño ranch dipping sauce and a surprisingly sweet Pico. The tomatoes were the culprit. Fish taco. Fish taco. Fish taco. There. I said it three times. The mystical incantation. I am forever under their spell. A big slab of white fish ever so lightly breaded and fried to a perfect state of doneness. Moist. Spicy. We enjoyed ours on soft corn tortillas with two tortillas for each taco. Cabbage, jalapeño ranch. Salsa on the side. Complex but not complicated. I’m going to stop here and call this review finished. fish taco….
