I was treated for an incarcerated umbilical hernia before Christmas in 2012. It took almost no time to be seen once I was triaged and was in surgery in about 90 minutes. Dr. Torres, with Southeast Texas Surgical is the BEST. While I had complications from waiting too long before I went to the ER, there treatment there, and in ICU was excellent.

Went to the emergency department with my brother because of a hernia. He was in a lot of pain and they didn’t help manage his pain in the whole 4 hours he was there… they didn’t even check on him but one time the whole time he was there. The nurse that was assigned to him was so rude. After he had been in there for 4 hours already, we were getting nowhere, so I asked the nurse what was going on and what is going to taking so long. she gave me the biggest go to hell look and very rudely said that she was doing his discharge papers and will take care of it when she is ready, then she rolled her eyes. I wasn’t the least bit rude to her, so I couldn’t understand why she was acting like that. I didn’t want to cause a scene, so I went back to the room my brother was in. I was sitting in a chair that was up against the was and the curtains was already open and about an hour later, she came storm in there and snatched the curtain back in an angry manner. She rolled the blood pressure cart almost through me, I had to stand on the chair to prevent her from running over me. She had plenty of room on the other side of the door entrance to push that through. She then just gave me a go to hell look. I asked her why they are discharging him without helping him and she said that it was just a hernia and to follow up with a surgeon. I could understand the attitude if I was rude to her, but I wasn’t. I was asking what was going on with my brother, that’s all. I’ve never been treated like that by a health care professional. My brother left there crying because noone wanted to help him. I find this very appalling. We will never go back there and I will make sure this gets out to the public. I won’t stop until something is done. The nurse on duty was Jessica Causey.
