They have a great mix of Manhattan and New England Clam Chowder called Rhode Island. I recommend that. It’s got more zest than New England which I feel to be an improvement. Price is a bit high, that my only complaint.

The chowda is top notch, both the Manhattan and New England. Lots of clams and vegtables. TRYIT! It sets the bar for all other chowders. I drive all the way down from north Jersey for a bowl.

Arrived last Sunday and picked up a quart of lobster bisque for dinner. Had some more bisque for lunch today and bought a quart each of Manhatten and New England chowder to take home with us. YUMYUM!!!

First off this place is clean and well manicured For customers. Air conditioner keeps you cool from the heat. The girl that worked the counter was nice. That’s the good. The bad: Banners are all over claiming chowder champs. Naturally you want to try it. The bread for the soup Was cold and hard. Really? Usually crispy and soft Inside. Downgraded. Not champion material. Soup not even warm, tasted like left over batch from The can. In fact soup is just heated up in a large kettle. That’s it nothing too gourmet @ that. They dropped the Ball on the soup and are more like chowder chumps Than champs. They need to go back to basics. Two stars for clean store and having air to keep cool. That’s it. Will go home and make my own…

The best chowder I ever tried! I’m not a big fan of chowder, but this is the only chowder I would eat! My husband is a huge fan and whenever we are on LBI, we always have some of their chowder. My personal favorite is lobster bisque. It’s a little too salty to my taste, but it’s still the best lobster bisque I ever tried!

Delicious chowder! We tried the New England clam chowder and the lobster bisque in bread bowls –both were amazing! Great for a quick lunch or dinner!

3 words: RHODE. ISLAND. RED. Get it. ½ Manhattan, ½ New England. A beautiful yin-yang harmony in your mouth. Their chowder is obviously legendary on the island, and lives up to its hype. It’s simply the best chowder you could get your hands on. There really isn’t anything else to describe it. You just gotta try it!

I was walking through Bay Village around lunch time and needed a quick bite to eat. I stopped by Country Kettle Chowda and loved it. I would highly recommend this for a quick, and cheap meal($ 6 bowl for New England chowder). The quantity was great, and the quality was fantastic. I would recommend this for anyone walking through Bay Village or on the island. I absolutely loved the place!

I don’t even like chowder normally and whenever I’m down in LBI I need to go to Chowda Hut. A little expensive but it’s the beach everything is, totally worth the price. A must go and don’t forget the bread bowl!

I ordered a bowl of «Rhode Island Red» clam chowder. All this turned out to be was a 50 – 50 mixture of red and white chowders. If I were the State of Rhode Island, I’d be insulted. The mixture was pretty tasty. However: the portion was pretty small(more like a cup than a bowl) and the chowder itself was saltier than I expected. This is a reasonable option for a quick, light lunch, but I’d had better chowder in the previous 24 hours(at the Blue Water Café).

Maybe my expectations were too high :(This chowder place was rated 4 ½ stars! It’s a small, primarily«carry out» hole-in-the-wall that charges $ 6 for undersized mediocre chowder. My soups clam meat was grainy. Not dirty or foul, but not pristine, as I would have expected from a 4 ½ star place Good flavor, nothing to write home about, its not the best around LBI, I’ve had bigger tastier, no clam grain, chowder elsewhere nearby for less $. Maybe cut them some slack. They are surrounded by an amusement park, on a barrier island, that was devastated a few years ago… the food is undeniably healthier than typical amusement park food… I just expected a bolder experience.

Doesn’t get much better than grabbing a fresh bowl of chowder tucked away in a bay village alley. Simply delicious.

If you just get a cup(no bread bowl) it will leave you lacking, because it’s a bit small for a «bowl» serving. Very yummy, though, both the New England Clam Chowder & the Chicken Noodle Soup.

Country Kettle Chowda is a bit of a hole in the wall location with a limited soup menu that’s just a touch on the over priced. But in the same accord it hands down delivered the best clam chowder that I’ve experienced thus far. I’m torn between giving here 3 or 4 stars. But I’m ultimately curving to 3 because honestly when Long Beach Island Chowder Fest season gets heated enough; you’re able to find clam chowder that’s either just as good or better within a spot that might just also feature a raw bar, adult beverages, sandwiches, and other amenities to go along with that bowl. But whether Chowder Fest is in the air or not, despite the bigger price tag Country Kettle is the Chowder spot that remains consistent beach season long. And if you have as much of a tricky time choosing between New England or Manhattan as I do, then you might just find solace in going with the Rhode Island Red which does an incredible job of combining the two. And why get a cup when you can have it in a bread bowl?

OMG, the New England clam chowder is amazing. The best I had on the east coast, so creamy, full of flavor and jammed packed with clams. The chili and bisque is good, but stick with the chowder it’s the best.

I come here every summer to get a bowl of lobster bisque. It’s on my top list of fav chowder places in LBI. But for the love of God could someone please alert the young girls who work there how to serve food properly? Every time I go there they’re eating at the counter and then serve your chowder without washing their hands– woof. And then be sure to pick up napkins because you’ll need to wipe off your chowder cups because there will be chowder dripping down the sides of it. I might sound picky, but come on if that’s the bulk of your job– put some effort into it.

There was barely any lobster in the lobster bisque and the New England clam was just average. Pretty disappointed, especially given the hype. I would be interested in trying others before returning here.

I think this is the place my son goes to for Lobster Bisque. I had the New England Clam Chowda. Holy Clam Batman, this stuff is AWESOME! If you like Chowda and you’re on LBI, don’t miss this one.
