Just finished dinner with the family. Have been to Howard’s many times and always a pleasant experience. Got there around 6pm and was pleasantly surprised that there was no wait. Love their bread and that a salad comes with your meal. Also a BYOB which is always appreciated. Two of us got the Mahi Mahi special that was the fish of the day. Was served with asparagus, crab and a Chardonnay butter sauce. Fish came out a little cold and was over cooked. Another person had the Mahi Mahi blackened and enjoyed and the last in our party got the Seafood Combination(shrimp, scallops, flounder, crab cake) and he really enjoyed. Overall a good experience and would come again.

Great family restaurant. Tonight we were a party of 10 and the appetizers, and dinners came out hot and nicely spaced out. Not rushed. I had the dinner special grilled mahi mahi. It was delicious. The crabcakes are also good. I recommend this beach classic.

We tried out this restaurant last night with our young children. It was a bad experience from start to finish. The hostess, who I believe was one of the owners saw us walk in and sat a couple that came in right before us. She proceeded to have a solid 5 minute conversation with them at the table while we waited to be sat. When she finally returned she acted like she had no idea we were there. My son was walking halfway into the restaurant. We sat at a booth which was perfect for the kids. We sat for over 10 minutes before we were even approached by a waitress and that was just to drop off waters and open wine. Again we sat for at least another 10 minutes before the waitress returned to take an order. My kids were starving and so were we. The waitress did bring out the kids food quickly and our soups and salads. The dinners had obviously been sitting under the heat lamps for a bit bc my husbands tuna was overcooked. The food was average at best. We will not be returning here in the future. The staff needs some serious training before the busy season begins in a few weeks.

Always love a dinner at Howard’s when vacationing on LBI. Love the BYOB, to die for fresh dinner rolls and they have the best homemade buttermilk ranch dressing for salads. I try new things each time we go, and we usually eat here several times a season. Clams Scampi are my favorite app and sometimes are so good I wish I’d have ordered a double portion and ate just for dinner. Last summer at one dinner they were served completely dried out which was a huge disappointment but no one is perfect. If I eat at a restaurant frequently and it almost always is great I’m not going to let that taint my view of the place. Many people on Unilocal are complaining they are not accommodating to families with young children but this has NEVER been my experience. Then again my kids don’t run around the restaurant, cry or scream(which can some times be the case in a family restaurant) They order respectfully and say please and thank you to the waiter. The views of the bay are beautiful and while no one server stands out in recent memory we are always happy with our food and service. I would remember a poor experience. Love this place and look forward to returning every year. Wish they’d sell the dressing!

I’m not sure why Howard’s Seafood doesn’t have 5 stars. It’s hard to find the rare combination of kid friendly service & scrumptious seafood. This memorable meal has sealed my fate to eat here at every opportunity during my summer visit to LBI. Thank you, Howard(sniff).

Excellent… My favorite place on LBI. Every time I am down here I come to Howard’s for dinner and I pig out big time… Lobster bisque is amazing, oysters on the half shell and Rockefeller, deep fried soft shell crab is pricey but so worth it… And then there is the surf and turf… I get the filet mignon with lobster tails… By the way, I order everything I just listed in a single sitting :) Never disappointed here… Great food, great price and BYOB!!! Just feasted and drank a bottle of wine at Howard’s so please excuse any typos

Outstanding food. I made a mistake ordering a cup of Clam chowder, should have had the bowl, it was that good. Creamy, not to thick and full of clams. My wife had the Crab cake which was all crab, little filler. Entries, blackend salmon was very good, cooked perfectly and seared scallops were some of the best we’ve eaten. Service, fair, it was just our waiter as we noticed most of the others really hustling. The quality of the food made us forget about the service.

Mediocre, overcooked, overpriced. Pretty atmosphere. Stuffed flounder was dry with burnt edges.

Howard’s is our favorite seafood restaurant on Long Beach Island. Apparently we are not alone since every time we come every table is full and there are people waiting outside. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it is worth it. Last night I had the surf and turf with a 6oz filet mignon and 3 split halves of main lobster tail. The lobster was delicious. Steak can be hit or miss in a restaurant that focuses on seafood. I asked for mine done medium but mine was medium well — a nitpicky observation but it was still a delicious filet. All around my meal was outstanding. Everyone else in our party of six thoroughly enjoyed their meal as well and we look forward to coming back!

We were driving south on LB Blvd looking for a place for dinner when sonny boy spotted this one, had no idea what to expect. Family of 4 and seated right away at around 5:45 on a Thursday in August. Drink orders taken quickly, a little slow to arrive but not a big deal. Bread and salads were simple but great. Loved the sesame Dijon salad dressing and the rolls were fresh and warm. Dinners were fried lobster, fried scallops, filet mignon and rare tuna with miso orange glaze… all clean plates(except fries and potatoes… proteins were large servings!) Sonny boy raved about the tuna which was a bit of a gamble, since his go to meal is usually beef. Dear daughter’s filet was cooked exactly as requested. Scallops fresh, sweet and cooked to perfection. First time with fried lobster, delicious and surprisingly large portion, but probably wouldn’t order again. We’re new englanders and I like my lobster best when steamed and in the shell. Dessert was brownie sundaes, big enough to split easily. Great place– bright atmosphere, good service, very clean. Would come again without hesitation.

Howard’s is a wonderful BYOB. They take no reservations so the wait may be long. They have seating along side the bay or in the main room. The food is simple, consistent and delicious. Too full for desert so cannot rate. The one downfall is the noise level.

AMAZINGAMAZINGAMAZING! I brought my parents here for my Mom’s birthday since she wanted fried lobster and I’m so glad that I did! I live on the island but never ate here before, but it’s the only place with fried lobster. They do not take reservations but they are BYOB so I think it’s a fair trade. We had the bruschetta and mussels appetizers and they were perfect! My mom had the lobster bisque & loved it! For dinner I had the most perfect broiled crab cakes, my parents had the fried lobster and broiled seafood combo. Delicious generous portions and we practically licked our plates clean. My mom has decided this is the ONLY place she will eat on the island now. Our server Danielle was amazing. The servers are very busy but provide excellent service and very helpful.

Service was good, went on a very crowded night and food still came at a timely manner. Food was good, not great but good. Love the BYOB aspect, but the prices are a bit on the expensive side for what you get.

Let me start by saying that the food here is great, the chef obviously know his trade and the dining area is bright, open and fresh. The service on the other hand is a whole different scenario. We have children, and for some reason people think kids are a disease. We were given the crooked eye when we came in and we were rushed through our order. Our food, for as good as it was, was jammed down our throat. We hadn’t even finished our apps yet and our salads were sitting in front of us still and the entrees were dropped in front of us. We were not attended to after they dropped off our food and they asked if we were done so they could bring the check. It was a shame because we truly enjoyed the food but will not be returning due to the lack of care from the staff. So the food was excellent but the attention by the service team was lousy and rushed. Step up your game Howard’s. I believe your worth it, and get off of that pedestal.

Loved, loved, loved this restaurant. We arrived at 7:40 on a Tuesday night without reservations. We enjoyed a spectacular sunset for a half hour while we waited to be seated. The clam chowder was terrific. It left both my wife and I excitedly looking forward to the rest of the meal. I had a surf and turf(fillet and lobster tail) my wife had the seafood platter with flounder, crab cake, scallops, and shrimp. All the food was delicious, and the setting was perfect. Dinner for two was $ 100. We have found a new restaurant home on the shore. Just a heads up, the don’t serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. I didn’t notice if they charged a corkage fee.

Hands down the best clam chowder I have ever tasted! Tons of clams and very little potato. I also got the tuna cooked rare with artichokes and sun dried tomatoes. Tuna was cooked perfect with a beautiful sear. Will def go back when I visit again.

Always a good meal. The noise level is high but the food makes the trip worth it. Like any good restaurant on LBI it can be a wait for a table

Everything we ordered was perfect, Clam Chowder and Lobster busque was phenomenal full of flavor and made from stock not water, the salmon was grilled to perfection and was soft and saviry, the fillet mignon was soft juicy and tender. If you on long beach island and would like a good meal come to the home of good New Jersian Fish.

Would not recommend this restaurant especially if you have children. We actually ended up leaving after waiting for a bit because the nasty hostess and her side kick co workers at the front desk were passing rude comments about my children right in front of my face. Also restaurant is musty and needs an overhaul. So many other better seafood restaurants with staff that greets and welcomes you instead of whispers things to each other about customers.

First things first; men have to come in shirts that cover their shoulders, women don’t. Our waiter was quick and attentive. The fried lobster is amazing. Nothing bad about Howard’s.
