Popeye’s

How can I not give Popeyes a 5 star?! This is my favorite guilty pleasure in terms of fast food joints. This sounds ridiculous but I literally crave Popeyes once a month. The spicy chicken is well seasoned, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Order the biscuit, seasoned fries, and their yummy mash potatoes and you won’t be disappointed. The best part about this location is that they have a drive through!

This is the worst Popeyes to go to. The first time I went to this location (first week of opening) the food was not even close to being fresh. I only come here when I have no other choice. They frequently run out of chicken and make you wait over 10 minutes for your food, which doesn’t make sense to to me because COME ON, YOU’RE POPEYES. I will say they are very consistent… consistently disappointing.

So obviously the chicken and biscuits are delicious but I would say 75% of the time they forget something. You need a better system for packing orders.

Great, one of the better fast food establishments in town. The chicken is consistently fresh and flavorful, not like the awful stuff at the other chain chicken joint. If you’re out doing your holiday shopping and you want to bring home a quick meal, this is a good alternative to the 1 million pizza and Chinese joints in Bayonne.

Great chicken I’ve been there about 6 since they opened every time the chicken is the same hot juicy and fresh. Minor staff mistakes but hey it’s a fast food restraunt, it happens any where, so I won’t worry about it, cause chicken is always great

Well just got back from my 3^rd trip to this joint since they opened. I remember seeing this place being built and was happy to see Popeye’s come to Bayonne. BUT, like every franchise that comes here they are going to mess it up. Guess what? Popeye’s is no exception. 1^st time there I order 3 piece all white meat spice. I get chicken tenders. No straw or napkins. 2^nd time I order 5 wings and get 4. Once again no straw. 3^rd time beer can chicken combo. I want a large soda instead of the small that comes with it. I pay the extra dollar. He proceeds to hand me a small one. Says I have to pay for the upgrade. I said I already did. So what was missing this time? No straw, no napkins, and no dipping sauce.
I’ll go to Popeye’s outside of Bayonne going forward. It’s a shame I was correct about this place because the chicken is very good. They are the Bayonne McDonald’s of fried chicken!
10÷12÷14 Update — Went one more time for the Beer Can Chicken. No luck as they were out of it. Ordered a 3 piece combo with mashed taters. I pay, the guy hands me my order and soda. I said to the guy «I’ll bet you my order is not complete». «No straw and how am I supposed to eat my mashed potatoes without a spork?» THIS PLACE IS DOOMED!
5÷17÷2015 — Back a few times since last review. F’ed up EVERY SINGLE TIME! They could give me free food for life to go back!
2÷13÷2016 — THE PLACE STILL SUX. POSSIBLY WORSE THAN MCDONALDS.

So they opened a Popeye’s literally 10 steps from my gym. And it has drive thru! I don’t even have to leave my car if I want some. Every time I walk into the gym, and leave after a workout, I’m enticed to buy a bucket or two or three of these delicious fried chicken. They just opened so it’s quick and tasty. Just wished it was’;t so tempting.
