My FIL and I came here randomly and had a great experience. We had the steaks with sautéed mushrooms and garlic and Martinis(up). Would of gotten 5 stars but the martini had cocktail olives instead of the queens. I’ll revisit my review next time I go.

This restaurant is a real underachiever. Could be and should be better. Been their a hand full of times. First off the Ultimate nachos were really horrible. 86 that please. The quesadillas Bland. For the entrées I ordered The sizzling garlic NY strip steak. It was cooked fine rare. It was rather chewy and not as tender as it should have been. It didn’t have a good crust on the steak either. I was really disappointed. How can you mess up garlic and steak? By all means STAYAWAYFROM the White Zinfandel chicken dish. I am warning you it is DISGUSTING. So bad I asked them to take it away and I ordered another dish. The menu description sounds tasty. But STAYAWAY. Maybe it just wasn’t my taste Or an off night. This is a one star restaurant. But I am giving it an extra star for the Pasta Danielle dish it is really delicious. Sad to say but this restaurant needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay on Kitchen Nightmares. It’s décor and atmosphere are gloomy, dark, dull, it is badly/poorly lit, murky, dim, dismal, dreary, drab, somber, grim, cheerless. It does have an interesting story and I read the story on the menu each time I have went. With that history I would expect more. It’s a confused restaurant. Which need a identity. Hendrickson’s doesn’t know if it wants to be a steakhouse, Italian restaurant or just serve pub food. Pick one and run with it.

First, this is my second review since Unilocal censored my other review because I mentioned the horrible service, greasy terrible food, and it’s not very clean. Oh yes, the place has a very distinctive odor to it as well. This is absolutely not a biased or personal insult. It’s the honest truth. This was my first and last dining experience at this restaurant. I picked it at total random. I was quite hungry so the sticky menu and odor did not stop me from ordering a steak sandwich. Bread was soggy from grease, very salty. The bartender was not personable at all and seemed to be bothered that my friend and placed an order.

Had a good dinner date here with the husband the other night. My reviews might not be as much fun because I’m low-carbing for now, so bear with me, lol. Our appetizers were beef tips in garlic sauce, and a meatball quesadilla. I liked the beef tips but I like my beef more rare. My husband loved the quesadilla, which was part of the specials menu that evening. He wound up bringing half of it home. I ate the beef tips but eschewed the toast points under them. We ordered burgers, too. I had bacon and cheese, he had the works on his. He had a Blue Moon and I had a diet coke. The burgers are served with a generous portion of steak fries, which I didn’t eat but the husband said they were good. Service was very good, they were very attentive. It was a very nice night out despite the awful weather outside. They have a lot of great beer on tap.

Under new management, no more piano. They have the same cooks as before and they still make amazing wings, burgers and French dips. The Canadian bacon appetizer is really good too. I’m not understanding the hate on here. The server I usually get is very attentive and nice. The food tastes consistently good. It is dark and there are limited taps but I’m still a fan. This place could be more popular than it is if they updated things a little more.

Great food, loved the Bobby O sliders! The service was excellent. I will defiantly go back and recommend this place to my friends and family. The prices were also very good.

This is a dark, kinda smelly(actually, really smelly), kinda decrepit family-run bar that serves a basic, heavy on the burgers-fries-and-other-greasy-bits menu. The beer on draft is mediocre not-quite-craft-brew local-ish stuff.(Not as good as Lot 13 in Bayonne, not as good as Nurnberger Bierhaus in SI.) I know some people seem to live for the burgers at this place; but I’d rather pick-up something at the 5 Guys in Bayonne, and grab a six-pack of Lagunitas IPA at various local beer-and-wine shops.

Exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. Burgers here are amazing and the beer is always cold! Have ordered a takeout a few times before we decided to eat-in. And we were not disappointed!!!

Burgers were huge and amazing! Cooked perfectly(medium) and flavorful. The Garlic wings were finger looking good! Guinness was poured perfectly and went great with the burger. I’m glad we gave this place a chance. Loved the rustic décor.

In the mood for excellent pub food? Come here. Stopped in for two of my favorites & wasn’t disappointed with either. To start I had their French onion soup, so good. Chock full of onions & topped with a generous portion of melted cheese. For my meal I had their sliced open faced streak sandwich, served with two onion rings & fires & cole slaw. My steak was cooked perfectly, medium/rare. Sit in the front room. The booths are tight, but cozy & the bar area is a throw back in time.

This was a horror show. Arrived at noon for lunch and the doors were still locked. Called and was told owner hadn’t «come downstairs yet». Guess the owner was the bartender because he looked like he slept in his shirt! The place smelled of sewer despite the fact the floors were still wet from mopping. The food was more expensive then the cuts of meat dictated ! Had a steak that was inedible it was so grizzled. The staff were busy on their cell phones and hiding in kitchen. This is NOT someplace I’m in a hurry to return.

If you want a bar/restaurant for a good beer on tap and great, juicy, delicious burgers this is your stop. TGIF opened a few months ago and is taking some business from this historic restaurant. Support local business and have some really good bar food. Great French Onion soup too.

Was meeting my wife here for dinner and i was going to be arriving a good 45 minutes before my her. I figured i would sit at the bar for a while and i was a little apprehensive as I am not from Bayonne, but the regulars made me feel welcome right away… after 5 minutes i was sharing a laugh and chatting about sports with the bartender and a few regulars. It was a friday night happy hour, so the bar area was crowded, but when my wife arrived the gentlemen sitting next to my offered up his seat. We settled in and decided to eat at the bar, my wife had Chicken Zinfindel and I had a chicked sandwhich, both were delicious, portions were very large and the price was more than reasonable… service was great, atmosphere was inviting and we had a very enjoyable experience… could not ask for anything more… we will be back.

I wanted to try this restaurant thinking it was Irish cuisine. I was completely wrong. I’m not sure exactly what it is. Well my youngest and I had the crab cake sandwich with fries… not good not bad the fries are frozen fries. I did expect fresh fries being that on the menu it said food is made to order and will take time. My husband and eldest child ordered Fra di divalo my husband had it over rice it was bad according to him we eat at 4 – 5 star restaurants and he knows the difference between fresh shrimp and frozen shrimp. His rice was completely saturated and not edible. My eldest was not thrilled by it. I can say Michelle our server was sweet and accommodating. She continuously checked on us. We will not return not worth it.

So my sister and i go to this restaurant just to try it out cause we don’t like going to the same places all the time. Sheri the waiter was nice at first. We decided to get Chicken Sandwiches with fries. Sheri comes out of the kitchen and says«The Chef made an error and cooked Chicken Wraps instead of Chicken Sandwiches» My sister and i looked at each other and was wondering WHY? HOW? THEREWASNOTYPEOFBUSINESS? WEWERETHEONLYONESTHERE!!! we said«OK!» She says«You guys will like it either way its the same just made into a wrap!» ANDWALKEDAWAY. I’M SORRYBUT I’M PICKYASHELL, I HATEWRAPS. MYSISTERSAID ‘WEDIDN’T ORDERWRAPSWEORDEREDSANDWICHES!!! AHHHHHHH!!! What ever we ate it wasn’t good at all NOSEASONING. So at the END we told the waitress to split the check and MAD A UGLYFACEATMYSISTER! So she yelled out across the room to the bartender and says ‘CAN I GETCHANGETHEYWANTTOSPLITTHEBILLNOW!“ WHATTTTTTTOOHHELLLNOOOOOHOWDARESHE. We left and left no tip! Sorry im honest but when service is good i would give like 10 – 15 dollars. but bad service 0 – 3 dollars… Im sorry i do feel bad but she shouldn’t of did what she did.

On the outside, Hendrickson’s looks like a pub straight out of Killarney. The interior is just as Irish traditional and offers quite a selection of Irish-American and traditional American food and drink. Guiness, Murphy’s, Sam Adams, Yuengling, and Brooklyn Lager are on tap. Bar area looks nice and has a few TVs for the game. Upstairs area for hosting private events. The food is traditional American(sandwiches, seafood, some pasta dishes). Burger is ½ pound and they cook it to perfection(Very good medium rare). Fries are decent here, not very salty but also not bland. Reuben sandwich is stacked high and was the perfect combo of sweet and salty(and cheesy). Warm and inviting rustic ambiance. Great location, moderate prices($ 28 for lunch and brew for two), and friendly servers. Will definitely be trying the steak next time around.

It’s probably a five Unilocal star establishment if you’re from Bayonne, but I’m from Jersey City and wine & dine in Manhattan, so I’m going to give Henrickson’s three Unilocal stars. That’s not bad; it is, after all, A-OK, as the Unilocal creators have sufficiently designated its star system for three stars. Relatively speaking for typical bar food and diners, Henrickson’s food was superb. But compared to finer restaurants, it was nothing to blog about. Not bad, not amazing though. You’ll enjoy the food, but it won’t wow your socks off. In fact, it won’t do anything to your socks. Drinks … wine was awful. They should stick with«red» or «white» and forget the wine menu all together. Beers on tap are good, but they’re good everywhere, aren’t they. Service was very good. They never left us hanging and was very nice. They remembered you throughout the night and what you wanted. Nice job, Bayonne. The building is cool, but worth more of a drink than a dinner. Though, how often are you in Bayonne? Get dinner there and sink into a family restaurant in a friendly neighborhood. Just don’t expect to tell your Brooklyn friends about it.
