My mom and I were in Bayfield, trying to scrounge up bakery at the food store when a nice man said«Don’t buy that, come to Erickson and buy fresh donuts!» So we did, and it was great! They had fresh cider donuts, apple pie roll ups(DELICIOUS), scones, muffins, pies, cookies… heaven for a baked goods lover. The store was cute — the usual«homemade» jams and stuff, home décor, etc. We also bought some apples, though we were there right after Applefest so I assume they were a bit picked over. Very cute place, yummy bakery and super nice people!

I thought this was a lovely little orchard with a nice little gift shop. The owner freezes apple cider so she can make apple cider donuts the whole year. They were warm, crunchy and left the hubby wanting to turn around to go get more.

Great for baked goods, but that’s about it. Erickson’s has the requisite store filled with a smaller selection of homemade Jams, jellies, pickles and other preserves. However, lots of the store space is taken up with cutesy home décor a la Cracker Barrel — meh. Since I visited during Apple Fest, I was pretty disappointed with the tiny selection of apples for sale. They had just a few varieties at much higher prices than we’d seen elsewhere. However, the bakery counter had it going on — they make homemade cake donuts rolled in cinnamon sugar. Eaten warm, they are delightful — don’t let them get cold, or they’re just so/so. Great pies as well, I believe my uncle ate half of one that afternoon. Worth a stop — but only if you are visiting other spots in the area.

Of all the orchards I’ve been to, this is my favorite. A wide variety of almost anything imaginable. Favorites were the candy and jams and jelly. Homemade blueberry, raspberry, and tart cherry made it back home. I like the variety of sizes. I was able to get a 3 oz. syrup, perfect for travel, when a breakfast place serves a great pancake, but artificial syrup. Known for their sugary homemade donuts. One of the largest, they have an adjacent vintage store. I like that there’s a bathroom to use. Very smart. People will browse and buy more on an empty bladder. There’s even a small area to sit down and have coffee.
