This review is for the recent charity whiskey tasting the establishment hosted. While I’ve never been there before, this bar looks like a lot of fun. With an indoor and outdoor bar as well as daily food and drink specials, I could see why people would choose to patronize this area. For the tasting I chose the VIP package. The event was well thought out with the entrance being moved to a back tent, where you received your swag bag, bracelet and mason mug tasting cup(for beer). There were brochures that showed what was where, but another patron showed this to me after the VIP hour(so I missed out on some VIP only stuff but, it was for charity so I wasn’t so butt hurt). The VIP was a quick hour and I wish it was a bit longer because soon the herds of people came in and it became harder to get a drink. The bartenders and staff were working hard, however the patrons were the ones causing the flow issue. Most would hug the bar, instead of getting their drink and moving. Maybe it had a bit to do with it being cold outside? The event also came with a free sandwich and I opted for the pulled pork which was surprisingly good! There was a cigar booth with minimal low end cigar choice as well as a coffee/tea booth offering samples(the coffee was much to weak for my tastes… Also sorry for spilling some on your business cards, my hands were full with the swag bag, my purse, beer mug etc!). I enjoyed the event and was glad to be introduced to the bar. It’s a bit far but I have a friend in the area and I’m going to take her there next time I visit.

I mean it’s what I expected a Long Island bar would be. It’s pretty much a staple bar in Bay Shore. Their beer selection is pretty vast. And they have some pretty good grub. But to be perfectly honest, it’s the Mecca of people who went to high school with me. It’s a place where you see people you haven’t seen for years really drunk and are still as immature as you remember them. But TJ’s, you’re still a cool place to hang out and chill. I’ll be back every so often.

Beware of cover events at TJ finleys. Spent $ 55 on their NYE party and was asked to leave at 12:10am. The rude staff said someone in our party was highly intoxicated when he wasn’t. Bartender tried to tell me how many drinks I had and then said«you got your money’s worth.» Don’t advertise an open bar when it’s not. The owner Zach emailed me asking how to make this right and when I said we’d appreciate a partial refund he didn’t respond for two weeks until I emailed him again. Very unprofessional. Avoid this bar!

I went out with some girl friends for an early Thursday dinner and a drink. It was recommended to me by a relative and the Unilocal reviews looked okay. The beer list is pretty large and they have them all on a scrolling list on the tv. That was different but kind of annoying. Would rather have a printed beer menu. They have specials every night but I unknowingly didn’t order the $ 5 appetizers but a pulled pork grilled cheese with sweet potato tots. The sandwich was super good, but the tots(served with a mustard) weren’t that good. My friend ordered the beer and cheese dip with pretzel pieces. It was pretty good! The pretzels were salty and just the way I like them. But be sure to eat the dip while it’s hot, otherwise it’s not so good once it congeals. It was pretty empty. Service was good. Small bar table seating.

Best bar in bayshore! So many beers! This is my favourite bar in this area. The vibe is good, no creepy dudes, no super drunk people being obnoxious. There’s an outdoor area with a bar and heating lamps and a fireplace. The bar tenders are also super nice and make recommendations if you’re not familiar with certain styles of beer. Also, the food is way better than your standard ‘bar food’.

This used to be a place I frequented for years. The beer selection is wonderful and it never took too long to get one from the bar. The bar can get overly crowded with young drunk tools pouring in probably from the Nutty a few spots down. It is LOUD. I’m not 100, but if I can’t hear who I’m with then there is no point in being there. Bathrooms also get pretty gnarly as the night goes on with only two small stalls in the ladies room. I rather head to Croxleys now.

Mind you this isn’t the first time I’ve been here. This is actually a favorite place of mine when I’m back on the island. This is one of the places that I was hanging out at when I first met my boyfriend. We then spent numerous nights here and even an incredible night for New Years Eve. Every bartender is not only knowledgeable of every single drink they serve but they know beer knowledge in general. Joe in particular is a delight to have as a bartender– I could tell that he was a well rounded and a conscientious bartender. He knew about everything from being a bar back, bouncer and bartender. He served us during a beautiful fall day when we went to grab a few brews. I had the schafly pumpkin and Scott had the saranac. Joe was very attentive and friendly. He gave us menus right away and we decided upon the beer and cheese fondue. Whoah the cheese dip is literally the best I’ve ever had. Apparently the recipe was recently modified– good job with the modification! Food here in general is very well done– steps above bar food, don’t think you’re just getting microwaved pub food– I would consider this a gastro pub in a way. The staff is super friendly and the décor is very seasonally friendly(leaf garlands and the whole shabang– which I love as a lover of fall décor). All over, an amazing experience as usual and love it here! Recommend it for nighttime bar going but also during happy hour. Five stars for sure and well deserved!

A friend recently showed me a picture of a brisket sandwich from Tj’s. It looked delicious. And even though I frequent Bayshore often, I hadn’t been to Tj’s for food. So we popped in this past weekend and gave it a shot. I tried their double cooked, Thai Peanut wings. They were amazing. And the infamous smoked brisket sandwich. I can’t believe I waited this long to try the food here. And honestly, these two items were so good… its gonna be really difficult to come here and try any of their other offerings. 4.5 stars for the food

Danielle is my Thursday girl. Great conversation and such a friendly mixologist. She should be voted Mayor of Bayshore… She knows EVERYONE!

An asset to Bay Shore. Awesome beer selection, always rotating, usually local and seasonal. Gets super crowded and kind of douchey on weekends, especially in nicer weather because of the large outdoor area. Best bet is to go here for snacks and day drinking/happy hour or come on a weeknight when it is less busy. Unless you are of college age, then you can probably still deal with that type of crowd/mentality and will prefer going on the weekend over the less busy nights.

Great atmosphere. Great selection of tap beer. How many were there? 26? And a plethora of bottles and cans. I had a long Ireland IPA that was on the two for one Happy Hour Menu, which by the way, starts at 1200 in the afternoon. So there’s not just 1 hour of happy but plenty of hours of happy! They also had a limited 5USDHH small bites menu. I ordered the blue cheese stuffed pretzel with hot sauce which didn’t turn out the way I had envisioned, but was still ok. And I loved the small pork sliders on potato buns that I found on their regular menu. The bar itself is large with a great deal of open space, multiple TV’s and tables tucked into small crevices. The floor is tastefully tiled. They also have a «biergarten» in the back whichi s probably really cool when its open. Service was terrific! I will definatley be back!

Don’t worry. be hoppy and head on down to TJ Finley’s Public House in Bay Shore. This place has everything a beer geek(like me!) could dream about and much more! I’m talking over 100 different types of the most quaffable liquids sent from heaven to earth… beers, ales, stouts, abbeys, lagers, mead, and every type of liquor imaginable to man. This place is amazing and I look forward to going here all the time(actually work and school is the only thing preventing me from moving in!). Seriously though, this place is the bomb! Let me explain. The staff here are awesome! They always make you feel at home and they really know their s**t about the beer they are pouring you — which I think is imperative working a public house. More importantly, they know HOW to pour your beer which does make a difference depending on what you are drinking. A decent lager MUST have a decent head for full flavor and poured into proper English pint glass for the perfect body of your libation. These guys and girl(Megan) knows this and this is why Finleys is top notch — even for the most critical of beer snobs. Megan you are a beer godess!!! Next up, the food here is above average and served up until 1am. The menu is a little eclectic, which is a good thing. Not your typical pub grub. For example, my friends and I recently went here and had the Bock Beer Bavarian Fondue $ 8.95(a crock filled with beer and cheese served with hot soft pretzels). Wow! Is all I gotta say. We also had Truffled Mac-N-Cheese $ 9.95 which is made with wild mushrooms served in a béchamel sauce. oh so good! The best deal here is on Wednesday nights when they break out their 25 cent wings prepared your choice of: Buffalo mild, med, hot, or 911(not doable by most humans), garlic-chili, BBQ, or Thai-peanut. I’ve had them all and they are each deserving of a try. They also have all the pub favorites which are right up there with the likes of Croxley’s. All of this is done in a really cool space(beer garden in summer months) with a great friendly crowd. Live bands sometimes play here, but rarely good ones. Otherwise, they have an awesome internet juke box that somehow channels all of your favorite songs(might be the alcohol). In my humble opinion, Wednesday night is the time to go when they have their beer club. Its free to join, gets you a buck off all beers, and HALF off all beers once you reach Gold member(100 different beers under your belt — took me about 8 months of going almost every Wed). Also, results in your name engraved on plaque up on the old wall. Really, the only downfall: Saturday night — bar gets 6 foot deep and no one can move in any direction — which can be really bad OR good depending on what you’re into! Finley’s, you are a GIANT amongst ants!

«NOCRAPONTAP!» That’s their motto, and it’s something I can appreciate! This bar probably has one of the best beer selections on Long Island– 27 on tap, and countless by the bottle. They play their beer menu on TV screens so they can list all of them! With that said… I’m bewildered as to why there were people still drinking Bud Light bottles? SIGH* I guess that’s Long Island for you…
