I give up: I’m officially giving up on seafood for the rest of the time I live in the bay area. I have been searching for a fresh/​edible seafood market for years since moving here. I was excited to find One Ocean Seafood listed on
, so I started by ordering the «Fresh Local Fish Sampler». It arrived with 3 fillets: 2 versions of Cod and 1 sole.
We were immediately concerned by a very fishy smell — never a good sign. When I pinched the fish, it did not bounce back, a sign that fish is not fresh. Sure enough, after cooking it up it was extremely fishy — we had to throw $ 20 of fish away.
I hate to rate anyone 1 star but I can’t recommend One Ocean Seafood based on this experience.

I found Patrick at our local farmer’s market a couple summers ago (we’re in San Carlos). His booth quickly became a weekly stop on my famer’s market itinerary. His fish and seafood is the freshest I’ve found anywhere, and of reliably excellent quality. He delivers, too. I just had him deliver some crab (already cracked and cleaned), mussels and fish for a cioppino stew I made for friends and it was all fantastic. He obviously cares about what he does and he’s very knowledgeable. He’s also just a really nice guy!
