Jim’s Firearms

I don’t know shit about guns. Like literally nothing. I know my guy carries one and I know I’d like to learn to shoot one under his guidance. Other than that? Nothing.
Of course I ended up here because of him. It’s a gun store. It’s a bunch of dudes talking about guns. There are no pretty things to look at here and as girly as that sounds I don’t even care. This review is for the ladies. I tried looking for something interesting and only found targets (yikes), camo everything, enormous gun safes, dead animals and again… guns. It’s definitely testosterone central.
If you do find yourself here ladies, take a look at the massive fan above your head. It’s truly incredible. And the most fun I had here.

EXTREMELY pricey. You can usually expect to find guns at about a 10% markup from MSRP (considering dealers get them for less than MSRP) but I have yet to find a single firearm in the store that is not marked up at least 33% above retail. This is highway robbery. The owners seem to believe that the internet does not exist, and they are the customer’s only option for firearms! The staff are relatively helpful in the condescending way that I have come to expect with a trip to Jim’s. I am a knowledgeable firearm owner but the staff here seem to treat every customer as if they are a 20-​something sorority girl buying a saturday night special. Take your business over to Precision Firearms 5 minutes down the road, they may not be fancy, but they know what they are and they won’t try to bend you over a barrel in terms of price. DO NOT GIVE JIM’S YOUR BUSINESS.

Living some 85+ miles away, Jim’s is our best gun-​shop in this part of our state.
I have used Jim’s for fairly minor service, so far, and their service has been excellent.
My Son has bought several new firearms here, and loves it.
Jim’s stocks of firearms, ammo, accessories, & gear are extensive.
I just wish that Jim’s were closer to my house.

They are very happy to take your money but don’t expect any service after the sale. Sold my husband an AR that had problems. The gunsmith wouldn’t even come talk to us. He said it was our problem not theirs to send back to the factory. Thanks for the help. Worst customer service because there’s not any.

Jim’s has many firearms and accessories in stock which makes them a great one stop shop. They are priced a good bit higher than most local shops in town. They have many knowledgeable sales reps to help you. I personally use the store to actually handle and lay my eyes on the product that I am interested in buying and then I usually buy the product for much cheaper else where or Order it online. My last recent firearm purchase I bought, I found at Jim’s in stock and was able to handle the product to verify that it was indeed all what I had researched on the web. I ended up traveling roughly 10 miles from Jim’s to barking irons, another local gunsmith and retail shop and ordered the firearm for almost $ 100.0 less than what Jim’s had it priced at and I received it the same day!

I came here to utilize their gunsmith services and I was really impressed with the best selection of pistols I’ve seen in any store in Louisiana. They also have a great selection of optics on hand along with a very respectable number of rifles. They had a small ammunition section and then a wide selection of all sorts of other firearm and hunting related merchandise. My only negative is I thought the cost for the very minor and easy work I had done to my rifle was a bit excessive for the work involved and another gun store had actually offered to do it for free since it was such a simple job (which I could’ve done myself if I would’ve purchased the tool that would’ve cost exactly what my bill was). Overall I guess it was worth the price of admission to visit such a great gun store with such a great selection.

Jim’s is paradise for gun lovers.
Sure Jim’s sells vaults, clothing, cleaning kits, holsters and a ton other gun related items. But what makes Jim’s special is the sheer quantity of firearms they have in stock.
Jim’s has a huge variety of guns. I’m not talking about your run of the mill Glock or Springfield XD. Sure they have those, but they also have the largest amount of 1911 style guns that I have ever seen in one place. There were every type of 1911 from entry level to $ 4000 custom pistols. It was truly amazing.
Want to look like bullet tooth Tony from the movie Snatch? Jim’s had several Desert Eagles in stock. Want to have a gun in case of bear attack? Jim’s had both the .460 Magnum and .500 Magnum S&W revolvers.
The staff at Jim’s was very friendly and helpful on both of my recent visits. On my most recent visit I was fortunate enough to have a ling discussion about the different types of 1911 extractors. I loved every minute of it.
Making the experience even better is that Jim’s has very fair prices. I found them to be cheaper than the big box national stores, plus they had several very reasonable consignment guns.
