One of the most magical places I can go to is a bookstore. I love books… and I have a ton of kids so this place does it for me… for the most part. I like the rewards program, which will always give me some sort of discount with every purchase. The only thing I don’t like about the rewards program is that they automatically take the money out of your account when it’s time to renew. This is not this location’s policy, it’s the company’s policy on a whole so it’s not really a gripe to this actual location. The thing that can frustrate me at times is how the fiction kids section is organized… And when I’m walking around in circles trying to find a book there’s never anyone who’s there to help. At times they have some pretty great sales, and if you know me then you know I love a good sale! Overall, I enjoy this store although it won’t be the best bookstore to ever do it. I do, however, prefer going here over Barnes and Noble so I pray it never closes!

While Books-A-Million has relatively a lot of books to choose from it doesn’t quite hold up to its competitor Barnes&Noble in my humble opinion. While they seem to have a lot of religious books they do not have very many special interest books. And when I do come here I’m almost always deterred to end up going to Barnes&Nobles anyway to find what I’m actually looking for. Additionally the café, Joe Muggs is just okay. I tried the candy apple frappé but it was so runny and soupy it was hardly enjoyable. Additionally the staff had no toppings to put on it as they were out of cream and drizzle. However, I do appreciate the trinkets and oddities you can purchase here in the gift section.

This location is close to my house and close to my heart. I still love the feel of a good book as much as I love to read it. Sure, they sell all the digital stuff, but I love real pages I can turn with my hands. The employees are very helpful and will order anything not in stock with free shipping to the store. I love all the Doctor Who stuff and comic book related merch but find the prices a little high unless they are on a clearance. I understand the high mark up though, because real estate at Towne Center ain’t cheap. If you are a bargain shopper they have tons of stuff under 5 bucks right at the front door. I love to browse through the store and check out all the big coffee table book mark downs. You never know what prize you’ll find. Check them out if you are gift shopping and in the area.

Worst customer service with the rudest little short hair girl that works there. I will always go to Barnes and Noble for now on. With this kind of service it would be no surprise that it would close down soon.

This Books-a-Million is more a huge comic book store than an actual book store.(Most of the aisles are consumed with fandom merch, than actual books.) I’m by no means complaining because with three Barnes N Nobles in town, I can always go somewhere else if I really need a particular book. I was just really taken aback by how a store that’s supposed to be primarily for books has turned into a place that’s more about what’s trendy.

«One of the few bookstores left in Baton Rouge». I don’t know how I would do my job without bookstores(with cafes) and cafes. Books-A-Million is one of the few larger bookstores left in Baton Rouge. Many of my days are spent working out of these bookstores that have coffee shops in them, since I work remotely(from my laptop). They have been my saving grace… free wi-fi, comfortable seating, lots of coffee and table space. I have always enjoyed Books-A-Million because of their deeply discounted items(under $ 3& $ 5) shelves and major clearance sections. Almost always, I find something there for my daughter or even something my husband would enjoy. This is one of the least busiest book stores I have seen in Baton Rouge… not as bustling as the Barnes and Noble on Perkins Rowe or Barnes and Noble(Corporate). Customer service here has always been fast, friendly and very informative. I am just unsure how much longer the era of large bookstore chains may be around because of the massive amounts of space they take up, huge inventory(with not so many buyers), the electricity alone that is used to keep it well lit and the popularity of e-books and Internet book sales. The coffee here is great… a lot less than some of the cafes around town. Unfortunately, the seating is not very plentiful and the chairs are a bit uncomfortable; reminiscent of the hard wooden desk chairs in grade school. There isn’t a huge kids area here either like some of the other bookstores in town. Anyway, I am enjoying these bookstores, while they are still around! It is a great place to come to study or if you are on the road and need a quick workspace. * Baton Rouge Bookstore * Coffee Shop * Discount Books * Discounted Gifts *

I came here the other day and was honestly surprised they were still open. I doubt they are long for this world though. Books-A-Million is a fine mega bookstore. I just can’t think of any reason you would come here over Barnes And Noble or just order your book off Amazon. Their selection seems smaller than Barnes And Noble and it isn’t as «nice» as Barnes And Noble. They do have about the same price parity as B&N though. The only reason I would likely come here would be if I needed a book right at that very minute and it was not available at B&N.

Although I’m Jewish(by conversion), I’ll take good luck from any Faith. For example, the coin purse that I bring on my business trips includes a Star of David, a Zuni Fetish, and a few trinkets from our Portugal Honeymoon stops in Fatima and Santiago de Compestella. However, I draw the line on having a Rabbit’s Foot. This and other Books-A-Million are located in the Bible Belt, which a friend of mine describes as a drink before Church. As such, there’s a huge«Christian Living» Book section and lots of Bible accessories including book cases, highlighters, note pads, etc. etc. I actually find it all fascinating and love to look around(without buying anything in this genre). Beyond that, there’s a decent(albeit not always well organized) selection of books, a huge magazine selection, and friendly staff. This store does lack a bit of hang out comfort, but you can get that at the Barnes and Noble just down the road.
