Went here a couple weeks ago but forgot to post a review! Anyways the food was to die for! We started off with the Caesar salad which literally was whole leaves of romain(unchopped) which I did not enjoy having to chop and mix my own salad for such a price! Maybe that’s just the fancy way, anyway I also had steak and lobster for my main and it was delicious. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had! For dessert I had a trio of cheesecakes and it was fabulous

The restaurant looks nice, with great plush booths, but none of the items we ordered were very good. Foie gras was cooked hard, not seared and melty as it should be, the ribeye was a strange color and flavorless, salad was overdressed with burnt bacon, and the onion soup was a thick cheese soup, not a rich broth. The service was good, but that just can’t really help the surprisingly bad cooking. Unfortunately, this was probably the first bad meal we’ve had in a Baton Rouge restaurant in several years. Also, I realize this is located in a casino, but if it is a fine dining establishment, why seat couples in t-shirts and baseball caps in the main dining room amid tables that are celebrating and dressed up as they should be for this venue? Casual walk-ins should be seated in the bar.

I absolutely love this place. The steak is always cooked right and the service is absolutely wonderful! Good wine selection and a killer chocolate martini.

We arrived around 8:15 and was told that the wait would be about an hour. No big deal b/c we didn’t have reservations and it was Friday so, my wife and I decided to play a few slots, walk around and chill on the deck. After the hour wait we went back to check in only to be told it would be an additional 10 minutes which turned into 30. Once seated we placed our order within 10 minutes, we decided not to order an appetizer b/c we were looking forward to our steak. An hour after our order was placed we still had not received our food. Only after complaints to our waiter did we receive our room temperature Ribeye and filet. I was under the impression since this is a 5 star restaurant we would receive quality food and service. The Resturant appears to be understaffed and employees undertrained. I think a visit to higher end restaurants(ex. Ruth Chris) would be an asset to your Resturant and will create a better experience for customers.

Went here last night for my boyfriends birthday! It was really good and we had a nice view of the river. There was a large table behind us so it was a little rowdy but we didn’t mind.

I really wanted to like this place… unfortunately my experience was less than stellar. The food looked great but my prime rib lacked seasoning, my mother’s egg was undercooked, and my dad received a very undercooked filet mignon. We decided to try a dessert and after 40 mins of waiting it finally arrived and was by far the least appetizing dessert I have had in a while. The peach cobbler tasted undercooked and underseasoned. It has a very strange doughy taste with very little peach in it. After waiting so long for it, that was very disappointing. Our server apologized for all the mishaps and even comped us for the dessert. Unfortunately, I am not sure if that is enough to convince me to try this place again.

Sub-par over priced food. If you are looking for good food in BR for the same price or cheaper, go to Ruth’s Chris or Louisiana lagniappe… way way better!

So I was tempted not to eat here because the reviews were not consistent and low especially for such an expensive place. I went anyways, I went at 6 on a Sunday. We didn’t have a reservation and they sat us no problem. We got seated at a really cool looking and roomy booth. And across the booth was an amazing view at the water! Was really impressed. They have their drink menu on an iPad the hostess set on the table. I ended up getting a Moscow mule— it’s not on the menu but it was still really good. For an appetizer we got crab cakes. They were so good. Not fried, with huge lumps of crab meat. Also had corn, okra & a tomato mix underneath. Was perfect. We got the filets with crabmeat & bbq shrimp. As a side we got asparagus & lobster mac n cheese. Omg all of it was so good !!! We were in and out in an hour. We had leftovers and our waiter said we could keep the leftovers with them while we gamble and we could pick them up when we were ready to leave. We left around 10:30 and we got our leftovers no problem. I will come back… On a special occasion lol

My boyfriend and I are staying at the l’auberge hotel and made a reservation on open table for 9:00pm. We got to the restaurant around 9:10pm and are asked if we made a reservation. When we told the woman our name, she called over the manager. I overheard the woman telling the manager that the people who sat before us said they were under this reservation. The manager then proceeded to tell us that our reservation was a quarter of an hour ago and due to the fact that they are extremely busy and close at 9:00 they are unable to seat us. I’ve worked at many restaurants before and this is absolutely unacceptable. If you close at 9:00 and are extremely booked than why are you accepting reservations at this time? Clearly our reservation was taken and instead of accommodating us we were made to feel unwelcome! I will never come back or recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Appetizers were great! The flash fried oysters were my favorite part about our meal. We ordered the small cheese board and were fairly unimpressed with the selections. We had ordered the tartar, but it never made it to our table. My dad and I both ordered the Cowboy Ribeyes– medium rare, and the steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare. However, when we got them, they were room temp. We’re both big steak eaters and know that medium rare steaks do cool pretty quickly, but when they get to the table they should be at least warm still from the fire. Dad ordered the chocolate selection, and it was out of this world! I on the other hand ordered the crème brûlée, which was a selection of three different flavors. Each had the consistency of flan, and I was very dissapointed.

Came in with my family to celebrate my brother’s LSU graduation. Ended up ordering a long island which was absolutely flawless, a new york strip medium rare, and the garlic mashed potatoes. From the atmosphere, to the service and food this place is amazing. Ive been in the service industry 8+ years and it takes a ton to impress me but our server Chris made our experience truly great. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an extremely upscale dining experience thats intimate and professionally prepared THISISIT!

Stopped here after one of the LSU games… yes we won. It was open and not very packed. We sat down and the waiter was fun. HE was full of energy and very nice. We had another couple with us and this was everyone first time there. Apps were nice, but not memorable. The wine was AWESOME(cake bread 2007 cabernet sauvignon) and the steaks were ok. Main reason is that my steak was not hot, but room temp. I’d go back, but with lower expectations

Another trip to Baton Rouge. This time we ate in the restaurant. I guess I am a steak snob b/c my medium rate filet was just not good. I did like the duck fat fries, the horseradish cream sauce and the bread basket. Actually, the bread basket was the best part. They need to work on their steaks. Mine was not medium rare. It was rare. And cold.

Another disappointment for fancy fine dinning. For price we paid for this restaurant, food is not good, below average. Nothing like your own cooking. We also request«cape cod«made with«Ultimato» vodka. I know that vodka was not Ultimato she used. She put cheap vodka into empty Ultimato bottle. Because I KNOW what Ultimato vodka taste like ! Never ever again for this money waisting dinning. Better to go eat at buffet in casino !

Let’s start off by saying that this restaurant is expertly decorated. I absolutely love it, especially the booths! The service is amazing. Our waiter was great and so was his sidekick. I believe their names were Chris and Kyle. We had a trio appetizer of sautéed crab fingers, crab cake, and ravigote. The crab cake was delicious. It only came with 3 crab fingers and maybe a tablespoon of ravigote, so kinda a rip off. I would just order the crab cake next time. The BBQ shrimp appetizer was just alright. I probably wouldn’t order it again. The filet was great and the bernaise was amazing. I had the Parmesan scallops. They were perfectly cooked? But needed a little more seasoning in my opinion. The sweet potato gnocchi was okay as well. Not the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. The creamed spinach was strange. I’m not a fan of having an egg in it… gave it a weird flavor. I would totally go again and give them another try.

My husband and I dressed up and headed to 18 Steak for the first time. We did not have reservations but we were seated immediately at a lovely table with a view! Keep in mind that it was late on Friday night and I would strongly suggest making reservations. Geremy and Kyle were our waiters and they never missed a beat. Geremy’s strong knowledge of the menu helped us select our Wedge salad(we split one since they are HUGE). We both ordered the Speckled Trout special and were pleasantly surprised! The fish was cooked perfectly and topped with jumbo lump crab! Geremy and Kyle both spent some time with us after the meal helping us plan our next dining experience. We are going for the filet mignon next time! We were too full for dessert, but the selections sounded great. Price wise, this is in line with J Alexander’s, Ruth’s, Sullivans, Stroubes, Jubans, and Mansurs. You will be served on real linen, with a beautiful place setting and excellent service. Perfect date night destination! We had a great experience!

This review is from my one and only visit to 18 Steak at L’Auberge Casino Baton Rouge on 3÷24÷2013. The short version: It isn’t very good, especially for what you pay. You must make a reservation. Even if it’s for 10 minutes from when you walk up and no one leaves the restaurant in that time. Because we wouldn’t want the restaurant getting too crowded!(sarcasm; see below) The amuse bouche was okay, but not great. I should have recognized this as an omen. An amuse bouche is supposed to be an intensely-flavored starter from the chef to wow diners and give them a hint of what’s to come. Unfortunately, it did its job well. The charcuterie meats were mostly bland. I couldn’t taste anything in the andouille except pork??? No spices, very little salt, nothing. Maybe I have a different definition of «andouille» than the chef, but I’ve lived here all of my life and I get better andouille for $ 4 for a 12oz package from the grocery store.(And we’re not even talking about what you can get in some parts of New Iberia.) The service was slow and our waiter was frequently nowhere to be found, despite the restaurant being three quarters empty. He was pleasant, though, and had a good demeanor. The steaks, the raison d’etre of «18STEAK», were less juicy and less flavorful than you get at Logan’s, despite being«aged at least 30 days». Everywhere else I’ve gone, aging tends to increase the flavor of meat. Not here, apparently. The sauteed mushroom side dish was woefully under-seasoned. Salt is a cook’s best friend. Don’t forget it. When you add in the $ 75/person cost(including tip), it really, REALLY isn’t a good restaurant. Stay away and hit Stadium or the buffet instead.

This was my 2nd time dining at 18 Steak & I was completely disappointed. We waited an hour for our soup and salad to arrive. Meanwhile watching our waitress spend several minutes(20+) at another table conversing. The french onion soup was delicious once it arrived however the portion was petite. Iceberg wedge blue cheese salad did not have enough dressing to warrant the name. About an hour and a half later, as we waited impatiently with empty glasses before our waitress returned to take our order. We both ordered a filet, once they arrived they were under cooked & had to be sent back. One was ordered medium rare but was completely RAW when it was cut into. The other medium but less than a ¼″ was cooked; the middle was RAW. $ 160 later… I will note that the first time was excellent. The service was spectacular and the food worth every cent. BUTNOTTHISTIME… I have since returned to 19Steak and loved it. We go as often as possible or as often as my comps allow. Brunch or dinner this place is a gem!
