Sullivan’s remains in our top three or four restaurants in BR. The service is great, atmosphere is upscale but not over the top. Food is outstanding. Particulars: The décor IMO is like a throwback to a jazzy NYC steakhouse. Experienced bartenders. Lovely cocktails and an above average wine menu. There’s a Malbec that I can’t get enough of! Don’t miss the lobster bisque. Creamy but not overly so, you can taste the sherry and tomato base. My favorite steak is the 8oz filet. But what puts Sullivan’s filet top over other steaks in BR is the option to add seared foie gras. Its honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I even purposely fill up on bread and sides so that I have enough to take home for leftovers. Maybe I should just order 2? We’ve also had and love: the sea bass, while lobster, bone in ribeye, short ribs, and all the desserts are fantastic.

It has great ambiance and service was very good. Food was less than subpar for Lunch, had meatloaf and it was pretty much inedible! I couldn’t finish, mash potatoes had so much horse radish my nose watered. So couldn’t finish my meal! Quality was not there because meatloaf fell apart from being so dry! I will try a dinner but I hope it’s better!

I came here with a group on a Friday night during Restaurant Week. I’m glad my husband made a reservation — the restaurant was packed and I’m not sure we would have been seated otherwise. Aside from the main dining room, there’s a nice bar and live band area. The décor would not be out of place in the 1960s, which may the explain waitstaffs’ outfits… Fishnets, short skirts, and low cut tops? Our whole group agreed it was a little odd. Anyway, onto the food. Our group wasn’t terribly hungry but we could have each eaten a loaf of the starter bread. It’s THAT good. Make sure you get a second loaf! From Restaurant Week menu, our group tried the: Lobster bisque: mix of sherry, cream, and lobster served piping hot. We thought it was similar to the bisque at Texas de Brazil but less creamy and salty(and not as good). Filet(8oz): fantastic with the Oscar style. Ordered with Bearnaise sauce on the side and it was great for dipping. NY Strip(12oz): not as tender as the filet but still very good. We ordered it medium rare. It was served with garlic horseradish mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The sides were nice and the potatoes had a distinct horseradish taste without being overwhelming. Bananas Foster Bread Pudding: strong rum taste. I enjoyed the ice cream and caramel sauce, but we were disappointed with the dish overall. We also ordered: Seared Rare Ahi Tuna $ 15.5: probably the best part of our meal aside from the bread. The sauce is VERY spicy but the burn doesn’t last! Three Cheese Mac $ 9.5: delicious, creamy, and very rich. The order was large enough to share with three people. Overall, we felt that it was a very average meal. At $ 35, the Restaurant Week menu was a good deal. The service is on point and very friendly. The food is tasty but not as good as Fleming’s. Since Sullivan’s is at the same price point, I think we will stick with Fleming’s for a good steak.

I had not been here for a while due to the fact that they charred my $ 70 steak twice the last time I went. We came for lunch today, probably for the last time. The waitress Morgan intentionally charged us dinner entrée prices for the lunch special, forgot drinks, never brought us bread, and just had a crappy attitude in general. More importantly, the food was not good. Steak sandwich tastes like boiled cheap meat. Please go to flemings or Ruth’s Chris over this sullivans.

Well you don’t have to worry about being on time for your reservation. My stars go down for every ten minutes over the reservation time. Reservations at 8, 90 minute wait for the table. Seated at 9:30 ordered at 10. We were served 11. Finished dinner at 12 at night. This is not how you want your company christmas party to go. Everyone was just tired and hungry. They are popular because the food is pretty good, it is a nice place and the staff is friendly. But they have crammed so many tables and chairs in there that you are bumping elbows. Not what you want for a 40 dollar dinner. The table next to us was talking about the quality of the table. And they are so busy they don’t even take care of the bathroom. The choices were no toilet paper, peed on seat, stopped up or wait for the one stall.

Food is consistent, steaks are always cooked to perfection, and the GM is a great dude! Lately the service has seemed to be less than their typical stellar quality, but it’s still one of the best places in BR.

Went here today for lunch with hubby. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, our waitress was very knowledgeable. The food was excellent and the price was good. I can’t wait to try them for dinner.

This was my first time back to Sullivan’s in a few years and it did little more than remind me why I don’t eat here. The wine selection is sizeable and I found a really great bottle, which was the highlght of my experience. We started with raw oysters and they were extremely small and very dry. Considering our location, I think this is 100% unacceptable for November. Then my date and I decided to order our version of a surf & turf to share. He ordered the 12 oz. filet RARE and I ordered stone crab claws. The steak was overcooked, which is always my experience at Sullivan’s. Instead of rare, it was slightly under medium. The crab claws were good, but I don’t know if you really could make me dislike crabmeat. For sides, I had the brussel sprouts and they were good but all you could taste was the bacon… and I actually like the taste of brussel sprouts. He had a baked potato that looked pretty good once you added bacon, butter and sour cream. For the price, I know at least 3 – 4 other restaurants in the area that I prefer.

For a chain restaurant they do decent food. The Baton Rouge location is in a really strange strip mall that winds around in a strange way but that gives the interior of the restaurant a bit of a unique design. Parking is extremely easy as they have a very large parking lot surrounding this strip mall. Service is very friendly while remaining professional. I’ve certainly had better steaks but for a chain they do an acceptable job. They seem to get a decent happy hour crowd in here and this location seems much more interesting than the only other location of this chain I’ve visited before in Austin.

Great service but not the best steak. Very pricey for the taste, although the atmosphere is great. Would recommend going there for a nice cocktail and appetizer.

Ate here twice this week due to the proximity to my hotel. First time ate in the dining room with a friend. Had a delicious Caesar salad, warm bread, baked potato, filet and(shared) asparagus. Both of our steaks came out overcooked. The medium rare was medium and the medium was well. My filet was rather small for 8oz and very tough/chewy. The baked potato was insanely overcooked — the skin was a crisp hard shell. The asparagus was also very overcooked and mushy. However, the service that night was impeccable! On my 2nd visit I sat at the bar and had a burger. It was tasty but I was disappointed that a steakhouse wouldn’t have a handmade burger patty. There were multiple bartenders who mostly stood around and gossiped and complained about the servers. Meanwhile, I was coughing and waiting for a refill. Overall not impressed.

I have now been here twice and think it is one of the better restaurants in Baton Rouge. It is pricey but worth it. The steak is excellent!

My husbands company Holiday party has been at Sullivan’s the past two years and we’d been previously for their $ 5 martini Thursdays and dinner in the bar. It’s a great place to go for classy drinks/apps/dinner. The food has always been great, a good wine list is available, and they have live music in the bar. The only qualm I have(and I know it’s because I’m female) is that they like the waitstaff to be all young women in tight black clothing. I understand that young women on staff does wonders for the men customers… but guys and older women can be fantastic servers as well. a little discriminatory! I digress. Go there for a great night of food, drinks, and ambience, and hop across the hallway to Ringside for live band music on weekends or a more casual atmosphere! Always a good time.

Had an amazing dinner. Service was amazing, all ladies in black and teamwork wow! Food… Steaks prepared to perfection and my stone crab claws made my evening. My husband said the philly cheese steak wontons were to die for. French onion soup ing with Mac n cheese… Everything was perfect. I failed at taking pictures I was so consumed with everything being yummy!!!

Welcome to the home of the world’s toughest Clydesdale steaks. I don’t know where they get their steaks but they need to use a different racetrack in the future. I literally had to get out my pocket knife sharpener and sharpen their knife in order to be able to cut through the steak! In addition to being tough as shoe leather(for a mere $ 44) there was at least 3 – 4 oz of inedible gristle(see photo) which really keeps a gal on her diet! The wedge salad was made from lettuce several days past it’s prime, so instead of crisp and cold wedge it was limp and watery – but for only $ 9; so who can really complain about nearly rotten lettuce at that bargain price? The service was painfully slow, although I ate at the bar. The pretty little brunette with the long hair was as nice as she could be but the food was what I came for and it was an EPIC fail. They also COULDNOTDO A PITTSBURGHSTEAK although I gave them two tries to do so and the arrogant douchebag of a manager had the BALLS to come an tell me I don’t know what a Pittsburgh steak is. I’ve been eating my steaks burnt and raw since before the pompous ass was BORN and he’s the one(along with the kitchen) that has no clue what a Pittsburgh steak is. The first steak wasn’t even close and was overcooked as well. The second try was at least rare but DIDNOTHAVE the burnt crust we Pittsburgh steak fans so desperately love. So, $ 60 later I can cross another steakhouse off my list of possible replacements for the late, great Raindancer Steak house. Save your money on this place loyal readers because they are living on their reputation – such as it is. Their steaks are crap which must explain the many other choices that are not beef on the menu. When a steakhouse has more fish and other meats on the menu than it has steaks, that should be a clue that their steaks suck. Sullivan’s steaks suck. Hard. I’ve had more tender steaks from Golden Corral with better flavor too. I’m about to give up on my search for a replacement for the Raindancer and simply enjoy the memory of the 35 years that they served me the perfect Pittsburgh steak and never missed until the end. Is there NO place left on earth that can cook a decent steak? NOTE** If you sort reviews by the date, you will also discover that this poor excuse for a steakhouse hasn’t had a good review in OVER A YEAR which tells you how far downhill they went in 2014.

Ready good and clean– I use to work there. The bar is super cold so I suggest sitting in the restaurant itself. It is a place to dress nice so don’t wear a hat or jeans. The steak is by far my favorite. Can’t go wrong on a prefix menu. Knockout is my favorite drink. The bartenders know how to make a good drink. I have been there for Mother’s Day, my birthday and many other occasions and I love going there.

I’ve enjoyed Sullivan’s across this great nation and this one kept up with the prime experience that I expect from a great steak house. We started in the bar to some signature drinks, all of which were great, and when our whole party arrived we were quickly seated(there were 9 of us). The food: delicious calamari, philly egg roll(surprisingly good) it was different and creative, only downer was the local take on BBQ shrimp; it wasn’t just sweet — it was a little too salty. My rib eye was cooked to perfection — rare. They suggested medium rare, but I like the cold center — plus the idea of 1 minute on each side is fun to think about(now if they did blue, 15 seconds on each side, that would have been awesome). Of course there is a great wine selection, so many to try from so many regions; maybe because it’s in Baton Rouge that it’s sounds more impressive… In any case this was a great meal and the décor and the service was great. Other than that — It was a great night. And I hope that you do too! Enjoy!

For our family a birthday treat since we go «whole hog» when we go to Sullivan’s. The BEST Cowboy(bone-in) ribeye in town and my partner loves the filet mingon! There was a time where this place used to be «fancy dress,» and still to this day there’s an «Appropriate Attire Required» sign in the front window, but it’s become pretty«dress down» these days. A full bar and huge wine list compliment the aged beef and fresh vegetables. The«wedge salad» is a FULL quarter head of nearly frozen iceberg lettuce with a WONDERFULLY rich blue cheese dressing. A SINGLE side of asparagus is more than sufficient for two. Service is great! Prices are high but then have you looked at what a good steak costs these days? Desserts are also wonderful, be sure to save room. My favorite is the Crème Brulee. It’s easy to spend well over $ 100 on dinner for two here, but lately they’ve come up with a $ 10 lunch menu that’s interesting. One note and I hope the management will read this — The last time we went there was to get a REAL drink after having been served watered down Matinnis at another restaurant. When we arrived there was a huge flat bed truck parked in front of the place with a car on it – was supposedly a Mercedes but for the life of me it looked just like any other Toyota Camry-esque car. Above the car was a GARISH red LED sign advertising a car dealership and the fact that you could lease this very car for the low low price of the equivalent of my house note. When we go to a restaurant like this we expect a certain«je né sais quoi,» literally«I don’t know what… a distinctive quality.» What we don’t expect is a bigger than life advertising sign and a car on a flat bed all but blocking the entrance to the door. Surely what is lost in ambiance by such garish displays cannot be worth the loss of the character which makes the restaurant what it is. Fundamentally, dear Manager, we’re there for the food and the atmosphere — not to walk through a car dealership«brought to you by Lamar» on our way through the door. If that sounds a bit harsh well… we could always go to Ruth’s instead. Yeah, their décor is dated and their back parking lot looks like a deserted warehouse district, but at least it’s not going to be a «let down» for me like that car was. I understand letting the dress code relax when you had to get rid of the humidor, but PLEASE bring back a little of what used to be instead of whoring yourselves out for a buck. Glaring lights blinking«buy this car» belong next to the fan inflatable toy man who bends over then straightens up in front of a dealership, not in front of what arguably is one of the best places in town for steak. Next time why not a carnival with some clowns and midgets instead!

This is based on my experience yesterday. I personally enjoyed my meal, along with others at the table. But, it’s not really that hard to screw up stone crab. We had 100 dollars worth of steak that was BAD. the dry aged NY strip was terrible. We also ordered the tomahawk steak which was not enjoyable either. The manager was nice and understood. They only took one of the steaks off the bill. For such a nice and expensive place, you would think the cooks would pay more attention to detail.
