A co-worker of mine suggested that I grab a slice of pizza for lunch from Batavia’s original. I haven’t been there since it was Pontillo’s. The plus: the pizza slices are HUGE, and for a decent price. The downside is that I waited about 15 minutes after paying to get a slice when there were slices ready, and to me, it wasn’t the greatest tasting either. I’d still go again and check something else out on the menu, but probably not for the pizza.

Batavia’s Original is not what I remember it when it was Pontillo’s back in the day, but you can’t complain when you’re looking for Sunday lunch in Batavia. I opted for a soup and salad… And I’ve been meaning to get my hands on some French onion soup lately. It came in a larger than most crock(which was good considering the 4.99 price)… And it was actually REALLY tasty! It also came with a slice of garlic bread. I tried their February salad special as well… A pittsburgh salad which is reminiscent of a Primanti Brothers sandwich in salad form. Waffle fries, shaved steak, a bed of lettuce. My only complaint was that it wasn’t hot enough. That dressing it came with(warmed poppyseed something or other) wasn’t my favorite so I needed something else. Luckily they had Frank’s and I was then satisfied with my meal. Presentation want great, but I don’t expect five star plate art when I’m dining at the local pizzeria. Wait staff was pleasant. Wait time was relatively short. And my friend and I managed to find some place to eat since our first and second choices happened to be closed on this particular Super Bowl Sunday. All in all, who can complain?
