Excellent service at a no-frills family-owned Mexican restaurant. We were pleased with our food.

We are regulars at Jalisco’s in Cedar Creek; it’s the local mexican diner that has the home cooking that we know we can always count on. Their breakfast tacos are large, fresh, and well presented, but keep in mind that this is no Torchy’s or other hipster hangout like you’ll get in Austin: this is solid mexican home cooking, with an extremely friendly, attentive staff. We love Jalisco’s not just because of the food, but because they make us feel like family; they all know us, heck, they even helped us catch a guy who sideswiped our new car in their parking lot and then ran!

Excellent breakfast place. Lunch and dinner aren’t bad at all either. Enchiladas de mole are great. I’ve been here several times and have never had anything but great service.

The food here is good but every few visits I end up feeling sick. The staff is nice and quick to bring out food, I just wish I didn’t feel sick after eating here.

My breakfast burrito was delicious, and their Breakfast specials are a really good deal. Service was fast and friendly, but the restaurant smelled awful like a toilet and it made it hard to stay.

My friend and I ate here last week and both got very sick with some type of stomach virus or bug hours after eating. It’s very clear to me that from the odd smell when you first enter, and the kitchen, which you can peer into from the front entrance, that the establishment is not a very sanitary one. If you do not want to have nasty things coming out of your body following your meal, I highly recommend you avoid this restaurant.

Service is a little slow in the place always has a funny smell that’s not food related. the food is tasty.

Food seemed to be normal mexican food. on the good scale. the server Jackie was awesome.. Very kid friendly and very acomodating. the food was plentiful and hot. but not above normal. the service and the speed made up for normal food. Even though I was told the check in special for Unilocal was no longer valid. it is very easy to overlook with the awesome service. suggestions made and advice on best way to order items for best price. would advise anyone to eat here for the service… if you can get lucky and get Jackie you will not regret… 4 star food and 10 star service…

Fun, simple place complete with guitar serenades on a Friday night. Seems like a place locals love. Nice service. Good salsa and chips.

Normally we go there for good, inexpensive foods. But lately the quality has dropped. Last week we ordered shrimp and squid cocktail. It came to us warm. First bite I took was so bad. The shrimp was not fresh… rather rotton. The warmness should have been the clue! Did they just leave the seafood out all day? I spitted it out right away and asked to see the manager. Told him that we are not going to pay for it. So the evening went bad after that. The bad taste stayed with me all night. Very disappointing.

I love this place. My family eats there pretty regularly(weekly) and have always been happy with the food and service. They are pretty friendly at this one. We prefer this location over the ones in Bastrop and Elgin.

Disappointing. Expected authentic Mexican food but got typical«Gringo» Mexican loaded with too cheese. Food was OK tasting but don’t expect to be transported back to Mexico! Just want to help manage your expectations!

I once lived in the coolest town in America from 1973 — 2004. I moved from Austin in the summer of 2004 since I could no longer afford the escalating cost. While I was working in Odessa, TX on the feature film Friday Night Lights I bought the ultimate appliance — a 1969 Airstream Sovereign International travel trailer in immaculate condition and moved east to HWY71RV Park. After plugging in I love my spartan lifestyle in private but convenient surroundings. The # 1 item of all one person families is the need for quality«take out» comfort food at reasonable prices at the closest place possible. That would be Jalisco which has grown by leaps and bounds and are always my 1st pick to spend necessary/discretionary income. Their carne asada is not to be rivaled anywhere as a signature dish, their many choices of enchiladas have keep me warm in winters and satiated in all seasons. They have worked to embellish their abode with the addition of margaritas, great beer selection, and breakfast specials to entice the timid and weary. I can honestly say they are directly responsible for a higher quality of lifestyle for me because of their vast substance and sustenance where anything Mexican food related is sought. The staff is friendly, professional, casual, and the recent make over upgrades the interior immensely. They recently added a big new sign to catch those rushing by whom would serve their interest to drop in and check all their great dishes in a kick back country atmosphere. I love this place and cannot live without them. I’ve been one happy camper since day one that now count into the hundreds. Believe me. It is worth the stop for one or ten. They stay open late on weekends as a civil social proclivity, thank heaven. If you are already out this way you know what I say is true. A quick 20 minutes from Del Valle and you too can enjoy the heavenly food I do weekly.

Food is definitely nothing special. Pretty obvious they don’t remove bones from chicken very well. Found many in our enchiladas. Table was clean but they missed wiping down seats between guests, we wiped our own before being seated. While dining our waitress failed to refill our drinks even once.(she was too busy filling her face with food rather than checking her tables needs. She was sitting at another table in the dining area) it also took about 15 minutes to get her attention to get our check to leave.

We eat here every Friday evening with friends. The food is standard Tex-Mex fare. Great salsa, though. Service is wonderful. Friendly staff.

I would have giving this more stars had I written this a couple years ago. I went here on my way back from HTx and was so excited to drink the salsa… yes I said drink. Only to find that it had changed, there was pepper in the salsa, not really sure that I have experienced that before… pepper. I forged ahead writing it off as changing times. Ordered my go-to’s carne guisada and al pastor. The pastor was ok, had better from a taco stand. The guisada was so salty it was uneatable, and on the wrong tortilla I ordered. Trying one last ditch effort to save what rose colored memories I had I ordered the Horachata… overly sweet and watery. ahhhh the feeling of sorrow I had for once my favorite place to go in Btown is almost unbearable

I don’t think I have ever given more than 1 star to a restaurant where bugs also were. but hey, it was not big deal at all. we stopped here a few months ago for a late breakfast — their tacos are very good. this past weekend we stopped for a late dinner on our way to the lake. I ordered the chicken fajitas. they were good. the pico de gallo was truly awesome. the four of us at the table are all super picky/critical eaters and we all left extremely happy. the snobbiest friend of all even said this would be his new stop on the way home from the lake. now THAT is a compliment.

As near as I can tell, this restaurant has an identical menu to the Jalisco locations in Bastrop and Elgin. I eat at this one a bit more because it’s very convenient for me when I’m coming home from work in Austin. In my opinion, the staff is also just a bit more friendly here. I’ve eaten here a couple dozen times, I suppose. I stopped in after work today around 3pm and grabbed a booth near the door. Within a few minutes I had some chips and salsa and some good unsweet tea in front of me. The chips were fresh and tasty, as I expect from them, but I was thinking the basket is smaller than it used to be, maybe. Anyway, the salsa was the usual, with little bits of onion, cilantro, very tomatoey, medium spicy. It does run a little hotter on occasion, not this time though. I ordered my usual chicken enchilada plate, and didn’t have to wait long at all, a bit more than five minutes maybe, before it was brought out to me. A nice looking meal… the usual big oval plate(careful, it’s hot!) with two nice enchiladas in the middle, beans, rice, and nice portions of shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato. The enchiladas had big chunks of white meat chicken in them, and were covered with two types of cheese. The green sauce had a nice flavor. The beans were awesome, I think they probably use lard but they’re very tasty. Rice was okay, not really anything special. The waitress didn’t offer tortillas, I asked her for a couple corn as she was walking away. By the time she returned with them, I was halfway through my meal, and there were probably six of them in the container. As she was generally very nice and attentive without going overboard(came by once to ask if things were okay, once more to ask if I needed more tea), I didn’t consider it that grievous an offense. I scooped some of what was left of my beans, rice, lettuce and tomatoes into a couple of them and munched away. When I was done with the plate, I managed to eat a bit more chips and salsa and drain my tea glass… and I was really full. $ 6.99 for the enchiladas, $ 1.50 for the tea. On other visits here, I also have really enjoyed the lengua tacos, the eggs and nopalito breakfast plate, and I think their crispy beef tacos are fantastic. I’ve not cared so much for their chicken mole. The menu I took home says Cedar Creek, 78602… I call this location Cedar Creek, I don’t know why it’s got a Bastrop zip code but whatever…
