As soon as we arrived we were escorted to our site by Don. This is a family owned and operated campground and we felt like family when we arrived. The RV park has a nostalgic charm and is very well maintained. It is on the edge of the Mojave desert and a real step back in time. All facilities worked great and the restrooms and laundry are very nice. There is a lot to do here including a visit to Calico ghost town and a nostalgic drive down Rte 66. There is a drive in theatre 1 minute away and a Rte 66 museum nearby. Don’t miss an opportunity to step back in time and be catered to by good old fashioned hospitality. Ron, Don and Jim thank you for a great experience.

I have to agree with most of the comments that this is a well run RV park. From the check in to Ron or Jim(don’t know which one) leading to your site and making sure you were settled before paying. It’s an older park that takes you back a few years but it was well maintained and off the interstate so it was nice an quiet. Well done Shady Lane.

Shady Lane is the best choice if you have to stop in Barstow. The place is extremely clean, the people that run the place were very helpful. Jim helped back is in to our spot in one stab. The lady in the office gave us very helpful info for breakfast, getting out of town and hooking up. Based on the options in Barstow I would have given it a 5 star rating, but the place could use more gravel because there is very fine sand/dirt that gets everywhere. One other thing was that the sewer hookup at our site was a foot higher than the ground, this made dumping extremely difficult. All sites were not like this. If we have to stop here again we’ll be back.

I can’t say enough good things about the owners of this place. We broke down, and ended up in Barstow with our kids and dog. The came to GETUS, and towed our trailer to their RV campground at no charge. Angels do walk the earth. Got us all set up and safe while my truck gets fixed. Full hookups, level pull through sites. Don’t give it a second thought when passing through Barstow. NO railroad noise!!!

Very nice owners. Friendly and helpful, which is 100% more than could be said for the overly rude staff at the KOA, our stay, one night, was $ 38.00 and the KOA would have been $ 56,00. We were interested in a good quiet place to sleep for the night and we found it. Yes we would come back, if for now other reason the friendly service!

Shady Lane is a delightfully charming, quiet, family-owned spot to spend the night! Ron and Jim are hard working and aim to please and help in every way possible. The lady in the office is professional and friendly. At check-in she provided us with a local area map and included helpful directions, a TV guide and other useful information. We thoroughly enjoyed the vintage atmosphere of this park and our campsite was clean and well-kept. Our 38-foot 5th wheel has slides on both sides and we tow it with a crew cab truck which all fit comfortably in our pull-through site. We would not have had to unhitch but decided to go get fuel to be ready to leave the next morning. Although we didn’t use any of the facilities this cute little park offers, the grounds are well-groomed and meticulously maintained. There are not any rundown ‘permanent’ RVs which are so frequently seen in older parks. This park does not look like most parks we stay in but the genuineness of the service beats them all!

Another wonderful overnight stay at Shady Lane. We came in at midnight and Jim escorted us to our spot in his golf cart. Hard working man he is! We did use the showers and although they are older… they are clean. Lots of hot water… who can ask for more at $ 38 a night. Bathrooms clean and well maintained. One very important item worth mentioning is that Shady Lane IS Barstow’s ONLYRV Park without railroad or freeway noise The hand drawn map is more then handy when it comes to finding the least congested route back home or to your next destination. All I can is the wonderful people who run this RV park are truly hard working Americans who do not sit on their derrières! They take Good Sam… not AAA.

This is a quiet clean park. We camped overnight in our motorhome. The staff is friendly and helpful. The grounds are clean and well maintained. The sites are level gravel with cement patios and well cared for vegetation between the sites affording a bit of privacy. It is a desert park with little ambiance but clean and shady. We will stay here again and definitely recommend the park.

We found this place in our desperate hour of need– we were on the last leg of a long trip and it was 6:30PM– we had to find a place to park the trailer(exhaustion was setting in), or risk a potential«the hillshave eyes» situation trying to cross the rest of the desert– not much out there in the two hour drive between Barstow and Tehachapi! Thankfully, we were directed to Shady Lanes by the gas station attendant at the Valero station we stopped at– his parents stay there when they RV in to town. We were initially skeptical– we are used to camping, and this was our first RV type trip. Wow was I so extremely happy when we found this cute, clean. well run place in the quiet part of Barstow– what a HUGE relief! The two gentlemen who manage the place were the nicest people, and even though the park was older, it was so CLEAN and well kept-it reminded me of the way the 60’s used to be– very nostalgic. We had full hookups and cable, and with our Good Sam discount, it was only $ 27.10 for a night. I enjoyed the stay thouroughly! If you are ever travelling with an RV or trailer, and need to stay in Barstow, this is the place!!!
