Probably the best«cat» food in the area. Can’t eat here unless you want to sit on the car bumper in the parking lot.

Pls note: This is mainly a take out joint. The seating is minimal but the food is good and plentiful. You no longer have to mention you have a coupon they just ask what you want: egg roll, fried wonton, or crab Rangoon or fried rice w orders of $ 35+. Food is good. Kid likes the crab Rangoon and Sesame Chicken. So you have to realize you are order from a place whose owner’s English isn’t native. They can be abrupt but always polite in person. As far as someone complaining about the taste of their food or the amount of broccoli in the beef, it’s a cheap Chinese joint. Get over yourself. It’s not 5 star dining. If you want a fancy meal w a fancy price go to Pl8 up the road. Their average meal per person with drinks is about $ 30+. Little businesses like this thrive on repeat business. And this place is busy. Maybe they could polish up some of the younger native speaking English(BHS kiddo) who answers the phone customer service skills. Otherwise a great little take out joint.

Hands down best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Live in Colorado, lived in Atlanta, lived in downtown Chicago… Never have eaten anything better. Searched everywhere but nothing can compare to Chinese palace.

Even as far as basic«chinese» food goes this place was bad. Hot and sour soup was goopy and sweet. Everything tastes the same and no amount of soy sauce or chilies can save it.

My wife and I just ate there, we went there on the basis of the glowing reviews. To us the food was abominable. It just didn’t taste good. I love egg rolls, but these were mostly dough — nice fat egg rolls, mostly dough. And neither the dough nor the filling tasted very good. We love wonton soup, but it just wasn’t very tasty, we left most of it. We ordered the beef with broccoli, and I’d say it was 85% broccoli and a minute amount of beef. It did taste good, but we dug around to try to find more beef, to no avail. The fried rice was decent and plentiful. We’d never go back there. They must be paying people for those rave reviews. One lady said it was great to watch them prepare the food, but I caught a glimpse of the food preparers when I stood at the counter and folks, you do NOT want to see that. Ugh! Baldfellow Update: After trying to eat the leftovers of the beef with broccoli the next day, I just want to clarify — when we ordered the beef with broccoli, we ordered a large, and yes, the portion we got was quite large. But I have to modify my earlier statement that the broccoli was 85% — It was more like 95%. My take-home was a very large portion of. .. broccoli. There was literally no beef to be found. So if you want a really, really large portion of broccoli, and you don’t like beef, then do order the beef with broccoli. The meal was so un-satisfying that when we got home from the Chinese Palace last night, I had to have a snack, even though my stomach was full. I just needed something that tasted good and was satisfying, so I had a bowl of cereal. I don’t know why I even bothered to eat the leftovers today, it just wasn’t worth it. I dumped the big plate of broccoli down the garbage disposal. Apparently a lot of people either have very low standards for the food they eat, or they’re getting paid to give this place a good review. One star is too much, but there’s no check box for half a star.

I usually order from Chinese Palace even though they are always rude. Today I spoke with the owner and was yelled at and then hung up on. My coworkers and have given them so much business and referred others but that won’t be happening anymore, the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

The good is excellent. The atmosphere is decent, and the service is good. The sesame chicken and any kind of fried rice are definitely good options.

Located close to my house, my family would always order take-out from here. It’s like other reviewers have described — the definition of cheap take out, but delicious. We still routinely order from here — my boyfriend has said he finds some dishes to be much better than others, but I have no issues. I did find the Empress Chicken here to be different than what I’ve had from other places, but it was still decent. I like their food, and I’ll continue to order from here. They do have coupons on their website, they’re definitely worth mentioning.

We’ve been customers of the Chinese Palace for over 25 years now and the food is delicious and helpings are very generous. Wendy and I have even become friends over the years! We particularly love Wendy’s Egg Drop Soup with fresh chopped green onions… DELICIOUS! And whenever we are feeling under the weather Wendy’s soup always hits home!

This place is the definition of cheap Chinese takeout, but in a good way. My co-workers and I usually order from here if we’re really hungry and craving Chinese food but don’t feel like driving too far from the office to get it. I know, I know, the food here isn’t really authentic Chinese cuisine, but who cares? Sometimes you just want a mound of General Tso’s chicken to satisfy your crave. Service: It’s truly a no frills restaurant that just focuses on churning out the orders, which is nice when you’re hungry and just want your food as soon as possible. The people running this place are constantly on the move. Even when the lady is taking your order over the phone, you could tell she’s multi-tasking. Definitely call in your order ahead of time, so it will be ready by the time you pick up. They usually only need ~10 minutes. Food: I’ve tried a couple different dishes on the menu. Portion sizes are pretty generous. I’d say a Small is more than enough for one meal, and a Large can easily be stretched to two meals. The lunch specials are closer to the Small size and come with an eggroll and a drink. I would stick to the chicken dishes if you’re going for max value. They really pack the container with the meaty good stuff and don’t have too many filler ingredients, unlike something like Mongolian beef which is half onions. My usual go to order is the Hong Sue Chicken, which is basically pieces of battered sweet and sour chicken that comes with some brown gravy type sauce. Stay away from the hot spicy chicken. It sounded good when reading the menu but it came in some nasty clear gelatinous sauce that tasted pretty weird haha. Overall, come here with the right expectations. It’s a great place if you’re hungry and looking to get stuffed on greasy ass generic Chinese food.

We’ve been ordering takeout/delivery from the Chinese Palace for at least the last 20 years. In all of the time, we have never had a bad meal. Never. The portions here are huge, the food quality itself is top notch, the flavors are spot on, and the people couldn’t be nicer. This restaurant has been a bright spot in Barrington even going back to when there weren’t too many bright spots in Barrington. Even now that Barrington is filled up with a bunch of other restaurants, this place is still special. I hope they stay busy forever!

Egg drop soup: very good! Enough for 3 – 4 people. I suggest ordering just one. Kung Pao Chicken(small): also good. Not overly oily or saucy. Good balance of flavors. Not spicy. Also enough for two people. Beef and broccoli(small). lots of broccoli. The beef was good. Somewhat flavorful. Enough for two people. Chicken fried rice. Not oily tasting. Very tasty! We will order from here again!

One of the better take away Chinese kitchens around. Friendly team working there and the little bonus like fried won tons in your carry out order is a nice touch. The egg drop soup is delicious. I like some other spots better for certain items. But overall this has the best taste of other places I’ve tried. Good value for the $ too.

Huge portions seems to be a hallmark for this restaurant. The lunch special is a great deal. At $ 6.35 you get a combo and a drink. I got the sweet and sour chicken. They gave me the box and there wasn’t any sauce on it, they’d forgotten. It happens to us all. When I actually started to dig in, it was just ok. The chicken wasn’t bite size in any way. The fried rice that came on the side was really dry. I went through my entire Pepsi in one meal. The best part was the eggroll.

Wanted to try out Chinese food from somewhere in my hometown and I have to say I’m impressed. The food was ready quick and I especially enjoyed the crab rangoon’s :) The main dish I ordered was General Tso Chicken and it was just as good as any other place I’ve had it. Unlike other Chinese restaurants though, Chinese Palace soaked the chicken a little bit more than I was anticipating. The portions are HUGE by the way. If you get the same order as me with crab rangoon, it’s enough for 2 – 3 people. Overall, the food was good and I would order from here again.

Haven’t found any other takeout Chinese place that even compares in the suburbs. I have had the sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, egg fu young, pot stickers(amazing), shrimp in lobster sauce. Everything I have tried is great!(For takeout Chinese)
