On a recent visit to the Upper Peninsula, we stayed at a wonderful B&B in Baraga. The owner recommended Carla’s — what a local gem! Our table had a view of the lake, service was fast, the fish wonderfully fresh — as the sign on the side of the building said, the fish you eat here today, last night slept in Keweenaw Bay.

Enjoyed our fresh baked whitefish — the portion was more than I could eat. Two kinds of soup on the salad bar, including clam chowder and an assortment of toppings for my greens. I would have wished for something besides iceberg lettuce, but it was nicely laid out and cared for. The view of Lake Superior is excellent, service was good and the butterfinger pie for dessert was big enough for three of us to share!

Carla’s Restaurant serves the best perch dinner in Baraga County and has a host of other fine selections to chose from including Whitefish and lake trout to burgers and steaks along with an acceptable soup and salad bar. The prices are very reasonable, the food is quite good and very often you’ll be served by Carla herself.

This place is great! Cindy was so nice, and attentive! The fish was fresh, and delicious. Homemade soup, and a glorious salad bar. Homemade rolls to boot. They have local beer, and a great ambiance too. If you’re in the area, stop by and try this place!!!
