The Terrace Grille was one of the best meals I had in Bar Harbor. It has the absolute best view on the island being a waterfront location. We came for a sunset dinner and the view of the harbor from our dinner table was outstanding. Our waiter, Richard, was so friendly and helpful, recommending entrees and appetizers. Everything was delicious and came out perfectly. I highly recommend grabbing a dinner here and watching the sunset!

I got married at the Bar Harbor Inn, so I’ll admit there are probably some sentimental feelings affecting my views of this restaurant, but I think the food is pretty good and the prices are reasonable considering the waterfront location(quite a bit cheaper than the BHI’s indoor dining, the Reading Room). Over a couple of visits I tried the lobster stew in bread bowl(excellent), the clam chowder(excellent), the haddock with lobster sherry sauce(good), and the lobster mac and cheese(ok, not enough lobster meat). Entrees come with a blueberry corn muffin which is wonderful(although weirdly, we didn’t get the muffins on one of our two visits). Well-behaved dogs allowed.

Spectacular view! Had a family dinner here on a Friday at sunset. Taking off stars for food and service. Ordered the lobster mac and cheese and was very underwhelmed. Mostly cheese and Alfredo sauce– couldn’t finish even though I was still hungry. And we went early to get a table, waited 20 mins at the bar to watch them seat another large family immediately. When we asked about our table, it was clear they had forgotten us and so we waited another 15 minutes for a different table to clear up. I will say others in the fam enjoyed their food. The pesto pasta with a salmon substitution, the haddock, and the bouillabaisse were tasty all were nice dishes.

A mixed review here. We go to the Reading Room now and then… very old school, more formal than most, and always excellent. The terrace, otoh, not so terrific. Beautiful view of the harbor, and pretty reasonable service. I had a cup of chowder, good but a little thick, and a cold lobster cocktail(like a shrimp cocktail). Others had a caprese on ciabatta and chicken carbonara. All were okay but looked way more flavorful than they turned out to be… just a little flat. The house special Bloody Marys were good but a white sangria tasted a bit watered down. The bill was just about $ 100(including tip) so the expectations had been pretty high. Next time, inside at the Reading Room or just stick w/the appetizers. But the view is terrific!

The view is wonderful and the staff were very friendly and attentive. My crab quesadilla was run-of-the-mill and pricey were it not for the view that came with it. Key-lime cheesecake was very disappointing. It didn’t have the taste or texture of either key-lime pie or cheesecake. In fact, it has almost no taste at all and must have been from some mass-production factory of processed food. Appropriately, it was topped off with Kool-whip. Yuck. One of the few times I have taken only one bite and not asked for a doggy bag as I don’t like to waste food but this barely seemed to be food.

I was here about a month ago. Dinner here was a highlight of my trip to beautiful Bar Harbor. We went at around sunset and the view of the bay was stunning. I definitely recommend the lobster bake dinner. From start to finish each course was perfection. The absolutely best cooked lobster I’ve ever had and the blueberry pie was divine. The only thing that could’ve made it better was is if the pie came with a scoop of ice cream instead of the whipped cream. Our waitress was also very nice and attentive. It was one of the most relaxing and satisfying meals I’ve ever had.

This restaurant had fantastic entrees, desserts, and drinks. I enjoyed a Maine Seafood platter(enough food for two!), shortcake, and the craft cocktails. Renee, our server, gave us exceptional service. She understood our time crunch and promptly delivered our food. She had great recommendations. She even provided my sister with a new salad after my sister accidentally spilled it!

We walked in with a group of 10 and got seated within 5 minutes! The service was incredible and Richard was very patient as we left the table frequently to take pictures with the amazing harbor view. The food was on point. Highlights of the Lobster Bake were the chowder, blueberry corn muffin and the blueberry pie! The lobstah was obviously good too. Will definitely go back!

We just dropped $ 250 at this place and it was worth every penny. We walked in without a reservation and they sat us within 5 minutes. We shared a great bottle of white wine, started with the crab cakes and then polished off the lobster in a shell meal. It was sweet, succulent and fresh. We feel like we can leave Maine now totally satisfied. Service was great and just bummed that we came at night because the view would’ve made it amazing.

Great location and atmosphere, food was average to good, blueberry muffins were a nice touch to dinner. Probably worth drinks and appetizers, would likely skip dinner next time.

Great view! Watched schooners, sailboats, ships from our table. My blueberry lemonade was sweet and tart. I truly enjoyed my spinach salad, excellent dressing. My daughters crab cakes were very nice. Kat was friendly and a good waitress.

First of all the views are amazing, so it is worth having a drink or two outside and maybe their cheese appetizer. My husband and I shared the cheese platter. not much cheese for the price, I have seen much better here in NJ Don’t order a long island ice tea, because it was horrible. Stick to beer or martinis or one of their specialty drinks. The LIT had what looked like coffee grinds floating in it which makes no sense considering it is alcohol with seltzer and a splash of coke. unless their Soda machine was dirty, but it didn’t taste so great either! I had the lobster bisque which was ok. Not much flavor and absolutely no lobster. Not what I was expecting in Maine! My husband ordered the New England Clam Chowder which he did enjoy! For dinner I ordered the broiled lobster, so you can’t really screw that up! He ordered the lobster stew and said it was good but not great! We didn’t go inside because we were dressed casually and we had our dog with us. I would stick to drinks and eat dinner at one of the many other good restaurants in Bar Harbor.

NOTE: We used the Unilocal number to call for a reservation, but that number is for the hotel’s indoor restaurant. Even though we asked for Terracy Grille, they did not correct us. This place does not seem to take reservations. So be careful! 5 stars for the location, 3 stars for the food. The location and views are amazing — well worth the wait! But the food is not that fresh, many things felt like they were just microwaved. The drinks were definitely way better — the sangria was not too sweet. The wait staff is friendly as well.

If you’re looking for beautiful scenery, then sitting out here for drinks is about all this place is good for. Food was sub par. Crab cakes were good but overall the food did not equal the price on the bill. This is definitely one we should have skipped on our vacation.

Service: Got a great seat right away, waiter was attentive, had good recommendations. Only complaint is seemed like they were overstaffed, running things pretty casually, although we were there on a Tuesday evening(on season) — terrace was ~80% capacity @ 8pm. Of course, the view was fantastic. Food: Did not go in with very high expectations given some of the reviews, and really after glancing at the menu was not hoping for much at all, seemed like standard fare — but wow, turned out really good. Blueberry horseradish salad dressing? Nice! The haddock was decent, and the bouillabaisse was amazing. Side of mussels quite nice, excellent broth — although minor complaint, no bread unless we asked for it.(Was not charged for it) Value: We spent $ 135 not including tip for two apps, two entrees, two cocktails and a bottle of wine.(ok… we were celebrating…) That is a great deal considering to location and view in my mind. Would go back for sure.

Great views, average food, yet the food was pricey. You pay for the view. We both had the pecan salad with spinach but the candied pecans were dust form and you couldn’t really taste them. My husband said his lobster roll was fresh but not the best he had in Bar Harbor. Service was very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the homemade puts in the cheese dip

My first food in Bar Harbor, and you know I had to start with lobster! It came as my first course, in the form of a cup of bisque. Sadly, I was a little underwhelmed(creamy; but one-dimensional). The rest of the food was good though; as was the service. And of course the view of the harbor is fantastic. All the tables are covered with umbrellas, so you’re shielded from the sun. And the kitchen is outdoors, so the smells coming from the grill are tantalizing! Hubby and I got the crab meat quesadillas and the haddock sandwich, and split the two. The food is expensive for what it is, in my opinion — café or pub grub, that’s pretty simple. I found myself wanting more seasoning. But the quesadilla wasn’t skimpy on crab, and it did come with sides of sour cream, guac, and salsa. Similarly, the sandwich had a huge portion of breaded haddock on it. And we left quite stuffed. Nice to see some local beers on offer, and Phil tried two of the drafts. I went for a cocktail(most of them priced pretty reasonably at $ 7.50) — sangria made with Maine blueberry syrup and schnapps. It was refreshing; but I admit the Bloody Mary Sarah E speaks of sounds hard to pass up…

Came here on a Bloody Mary tour of Bar Harbor with my best friend on a lazy boring Saturday. Best Bloody Mary out of the 4 restaurants we tried. SO good. Came with olives and a jumbo shrip and was the cheapest drink of all the palces we went to. Gave it a 9 out of 10. Drink was spicy and the views were amazing. Really nice manager named Clay chatted with us and gave us a table all the way in the back– where we were away from everyone and played some music on our phones. The views alone were worth a trip there but the Bloody Mary makes you want to sit and stay. Check it out if you are on a date but not good for groups or young kids it seems. Also dont be fooled by the atmosphere, seems really ritzy but everyone is so nice and we felt comfortable. Worth a stop.

This is not the best restaurant in Bar Harbor, but is worth visiting just because of the gorgeous views. I had a Cajun fish sandwich and my wife had some sandwich made of various vegetables and cheese. Like I said the food was not memorable, but we greatly enjoyed sitting and watching the activity around the harbor including a spectacular view of a visiting cruise ship.

Terrace Grille is a beautiful outdoor restaurant on the lawn of the Bar Harbor Inn. It features local light fare and select entrees from the hotel’s fancier restaurant, the Reading Room. Everything is prepared outside on the lawn, and our entrees for the night were a delicious crabmeat quesadilla and a cranberry chicken salad wrap. The quesadilla had rich, delicious crab meat with savory dill havarti cheese, and the chicken salad wrap had a nice spinach tortilla. The restaurant is right on the waterfront, offering beautiful views of the harbor. Great dining choice!!!
