This place is overrated and terrible food. The burger was over cooked. The service was pretty good.

Food was okay. Expensive as is everything in that area. Nothing too special.

What an interesting place! All the memorabilia and décor can be overwhelming but overall it’s a cute diner. Food is mediocre. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her lobster roll. Fries are nothing special though… tasted like the frozen kind. The beehive chicken was good. Very cheesy.

Cool place, you better like the 50s though. I never expected something like this in Bar Harbor. I had the«shore special». This dish was great. It was compiled of a cup of clam chowder, one 1.5 Lb lobster, fries, slaw, and a piece of blueberry pie with ice cream. The service was a real cool and curious bunch.

My wife and I went here on the recommendation from our hotel desk clerk. I had asked her where we could get a reasonably-priced, full lobster dinner, and when she said the name of the restaurant I knew we were going to love it! We’ve traced Route 66 before, and all of the Coca-Cola/50’s memorabilia there just brought back all those good memories! I went with their Lobster Dinner, and my wife had their Lobster Wrap. Mine came with clam chowder, 1−¼ lb. lobster, baked potato, coleslaw and blueberry pie w/vanilla ice cream, all for under $ 30! Back home, I would have paid more than that just for the lobster alone, and I guarantee you that it wouldn’t have been swimming in the ocean earlier that same day! My wife’s wrap had lobster meat, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon and a lemon aioli. She said it was very good, and that the fries were good as well. Our server was very nice, and couldn’t have been more hospitable! Obviously, if you want fancier eats, in a more-upscale place, here in Bar Harbor, you can readily find it, but considering that the entire town is one, ginormous tourist trap, why not enjoy yourself a little bit more and go to a place that you know you’ll enjoy; that’s what we did! If we ever go to Acadia National Park again, we’ll be sure to eat here again!

I remember this place for the décor, not the food. Come here for lunch and grab a burger or a sandwich and enjoy the thousands of 50’s nostalgia items scattered everywhere you look. It’s a fun place to eat, and for that reason I know it will always be a stop on my visits to Bar Harbor.

Their fruit is straight from a can. So are their beans. They forgot to melt the cheese on my daughter’s grilled cheese… Gross. My chicken sandwich didn’t come as described and tasted like total garbage. One of those meals you feel stupid for paying for and wished you’d not eaten because your appetite is gone. Will never recommend or go back.

Looked nice from the outside, cool old stuff. Fries were burnt, burgers were oily and tasteless. Waitress was un friendly, my son cut his hand on one of the glasses of his milkshake. She didn’t even bring a new one, just moved the rest of his milkshake to a new plastic cup.

After many years of walking by this place, I finally had lunch there over Labor Day weekend. I had the All American Burger, which has deep fried mac n cheese bites on the burger. I don’t know who thought that up, but I’m sure glad they did. The milkshake was rich and creamy, and it tasted so good, I drank almost half of it before my burger even got to the table. My cousin had the Old Timer, a grilled cheese with a cheeseburger inside, and our friend had the Chicken Chipotle Club. The décor is what I call«classic car kitsch», with a few really old license plates on the wall, along with some old board games. One thing I love about the place is that it has something for everybody on the menu. Seriously. They have a copy of their menu displayed outside the restaurant, so you can check it out before you go in. The official address is 21 Cottage Street, or as I like to call it, the building with the yellow taxi on the front. Now if I can just manage to waddle like a penguin back to the car after stuffing myself with that burger, that’ll be a bonus.

Beautiful and unique. I loved the décor. I think I will copy some wall art ideas for my home! The food was kinda okay… But a must visit to check out all the history these guys have gathered over the years. No less than a museum!

It’s okay. The location doesn’t help. But I can see they are trying. Burgers are good to very good. Not enough marketing to make tourists know them. This is a place that should be pumping with a waiting line. I recommend they become famous for one thing(like the burgers) and put the word out. But, it has to be a killer burger menu. I’m only going to go back when I hear that their bla bla bla is the best in town and that I should go there before I leave of town or else I’m crazy.

Not bad at all. Nachos were better than average, beer was cold, lobster was decent size and cooked about right. Service was very good. Atmosphere was in line with the name — more old junk than I have seen in a long time. 50s & early 60s music to accompany the theme. Over a good meal and fairly priced.

We found this place walking around and my 12 year old said this is where we were going when he saw the fried mac n cheese burger(which also comes with a broiled chicken breast which is what he ended up ordering. I’m a big route 66 fan. We drove down old route 66 on family vacations in the 70s. I did again on a recent vacation. So this got 3 stars before we even sat down. Great décor… every where you look is something cool. Great for kids. Some Unilocal reviewers are looking for the best burger they ever had every time they order one. I’m not that picky. I figure I’m not getting the best burger ever at a place like this. It’s essentially a diner. Ordered medium well blue cheese burger. Slightly pink in the middle, could taste the blue cheese in every bite. It was a good burger on a good bun. My wife liked her lobster roll. Fries were firm and not greasy. Don’t remember our service so that means it’s neither awesome or bad… she got the job done. Fair prices. My son said it was the best place he ate at, on the vacation… that’s worth the 5th star.

Less than impressed. Stopped here after a long day in and around the park. Ordered a burger medium well. Came out medium, and wasn’t that great tasting. My husband ordered the seafood Alfredo, which was good, but not great. The seafood was fresh and good, but the pasta was stuck together in clumps. It was good, but definitely not worth the $ 23 we paid. I don’t ever complain about food but I did send my burger back, and they at least took it off of my bill. Otherwise the service wasn’t that great either. Waitress was friendly enough, but very slow(and it wasn’t crowded). We had to ask for utensils and the rolls that can with my husband’s dinner. Maybe it was just an off night for them, but I wouldn’t go back based on tonight’s dinner.

Fun, 50’s retro theme with lots of memorabilia to check out. Very kid friendly with a reasonably priced kids menu with several good options. Lots of variety on the regular menu including a seafood pizza with lobster, scallops, etc, a lobster wrap and traditional lobster rolls. They also have a bam bam lobster roll with a slightly spicy mayo that we really enjoyed. Blueberry pie for dessert served warm with ice cream. Friendly service.

Entertaining décor, apparently scavenged from all over. The food was a little less exciting. I had lobster mac and cheese. The M & C part was good – buttery and very cheesy. But, there was precious little lobster to be found. She had a cheese steak. It was OK, as were the fries, but nothing special. Our server brought her the wrong flavor ice tea and forgot the mayo for the sandwich. It was the end of the shift, so maybe that’s why, but the service needs to bring it up a notch.(They were very friendly and attentive, though.)

A foggy and rainy day on the harbor so after a morning of rainy but fun Kayaking some perfectly fried Fresh hand cut fries really was a true Maine treat. Tried the bacon lettuce avocado and tomato on a ciabatta roll. Bacon was tasty and that was what I was craving. Maine blueberry pie and some crown royal … well just because they have a full bar too.

3 star restaurant regarding the food, an extra star for the amazing décor. The atmosphere was so cute, and there were so many antiques in the store that you felt like you were being transported to a different time. That was awesome :) As for the food, I had the chowder and the crab cakes, and both were somewhat mediocre. I was starving that day after a long hike in Acadia, so I was ready to devour anything and everything. That being said, the clam chowder was a bit too gritty for my taste. It felt like they prepared it from a jar. The clam cake was dry as well and a bit too pricy for my liking. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here even if it means just getting to dine in such a cool environment.
