The Cajun pasta used to be one of my favorite dishes. But ordered it today for the first time under the new owner, it was horrible! The pasta was way too over cooked, mushy, with no seasoning. They should have been ashamed to serve that to someone. Never again.

Love the sloppy joe pizza, totally delicious. I’ve done dine-in and take-out and both were pretty good. The location can be hard for parking unless you live nearby and walk. Overall they have a lot of great options and you’ll enjoy it.

I come here for the same dish every time. Their pizza with salmon and caviar is so delicious I bring anyone I can here. I love this place it’s laid back and the food is amazing. I want to try other dishes but I can’t help but always want the same pizza. I did try their crab pizza and that too was good but I guess it’s the mango jam that gets me with the salmon pizza. Simply amazing! It’s a great experience and they have whole wheat dough so your pizza gets a different flavor as far as the bread as well.

The delivery took over an hour and the pizza arrived cold and tasted like it was made on the previous day. The place does have a large selection of food and innovative pizzas and if they were hot, I am sure they would be delicious. We may have to go in to get the full experience.

Stopped here for a light dinner and was unfortunately disappointed. I have previously had takeout which was cold, but hoped dining in would give me a better experience. I ordered gyro sandwich with rice. The lamb came in strips and looked to be frozen, pre-packaged patties. Pita bread was cold. The rice was good.

Decided to give this place a try after walking by on a late Saturday afternoon. It’s a cute café with a chilled out ambience. Service was quick, but the waitress who evidently was new was a little overbearing with the service without being informative pr efficient. The food deserves 5 stars! We had the middle eastern combo for appetizer. The grape leaves and falafel were very tasty and fresh. For mains we had the kofta kabob which is ground beef kabob. The beef was well seasoned, juicy and a nicely grilled crispy outside. We also ordered the India pizza which consisted of tandoori chicken breast and served with mango chutney on the side. Very interesting flavors and my first time trying an Indian flavored pizza. Last of all desserts. We ordered the baklava which we had high hopes for. Unfortunately that was a let down. The phyllo pastry was soggy and the nuts were stale. It was a great experience overall but it could be improved with more pleasant service, availability of hookah and better desserts.

They have an extensive list of pizza combinations. It’s actually overwhelming and impressive. I had the swarma sandwich and a shrimp specialty pizza. It was really good. Also it’s BYOB and they serve baklava. yummy

Tried Kyro Pizza once, never again. Used orderup to order delivery. Wanted to try a specialty type more interesting pizza. Their menu looked good so I gave it a try. Placed order at 12:31 for a pizza and falafel. Took 1 hour 52 minutes for the order to arrive! Called twice. First time after 1 hour and 15min the person said the order was on its way before I even told him what my order was or how long I’d waited. Which either means there were no other orders the whole time and there was no reason for taking so long or he was lying. Second time I called at 1 hour 40min to say that I wanted to cancel the order if it wasn’t here immediately. Guy said it would be there right away. Pizza and falafel arrived 12 min later both cold and visible that it had been sitting for a long time. Maybe this place is good in person but I’ll never find out. There’s too many pizza shops in this city to waste my time and money on the same poor place twice.

It used to be Café Isis and I remember them being famed for their pizzas. I wanted to test their claim to authentic Egyptian food, so I took my Egyptian friend to this joint: it got her nod of approval. Here’s the high and low: High #1: you need to order the Chicken Curry Pasta. It seems like no one has raved about this dish yet – but it’s one of the highlights that wait staff have pointed out on two separate occasions. The pasta is al dente and the sauce is not your typical asian curry – it’s muted, yet rich in flavor. If you like curry in general, you’ll like this. Came with a garlic pita bread. High #2: Eggplant Salad rocked. That eggplant tasted exactly how roasted eggplant ought to taste in your wildest dreams. Quality mixed greens and romaine. Came with a garlic pita bread. High #3: Giza Pizza: it would please those who like thin crust pizza, and the strips of lamb didn’t feel too overbearing. High #4: Beef Kabob: came with some interesting looking Egyptian rice, salad, and a pile of kabob with grilled vegetables on top – yum. High #5: Middle Eastern Appetizer Platter: a great way to try their falafel(green in the middle, moist), dolma, hummus, babaganoush, and olive tapenade with a piece of pita bread. Low #1: Skip the Seafood Calzone; personally I thought it was too much of a «fishy» taste. It was doused with cheese and if you like crab, you might appreciate this. I was looking forward to the scallops, but I kept getting mouthfuls of crab. It was huge though. Service was great and it was a nice, quiet place with your choice of booths or chairs. I think only 3 – 5 groups of people dined in the two times I’ve gone, so you had a relaxed atmosphere punctuated by some top 40 songs playing overhead.

This place is totally acceptable and I get pizzas made here regularly. It’s not the best pizza and I think it’s weird that there aren’t really reviews for their mediterranean food(I keep meaning to try it, but there are so many close awesome gyro places that I just prefer to keep going to those). It’s totally decent pizza, the wait staff is whatever, but they never ruined a meal of mine. I like them. :)

This is the best pizza around… if all you’ve had is subpar Dominoes and/or Papa John’s. Kyro has an interesting mix of pizza choices, many greek inspired. I live around the area and decided to get delivery. I ordered a couple of medium sized pizzas: The Giza(lamb, feta, roasted red peppers, black olives) and the Monzese(a fancy name for pepperoni pizza). Despite being thin crust, the dough was a bit«heavy» and doughy, definitely not on par with the likes of neighboring pizza joints like Iggie’s and Joe Squared. There are a of interesting topping combinations, but the flavors were nothing special, sauces mediocre. There is an extensive menu of pastas and Greek foods that I haven’t tried, but with the name Kyro Pizza, the pizza should be better. **one caveat is that I ordered delivery, perhaps affecting the quality of the crust a bit, like going from a 3⁄10 to 3.1÷10 in taste. Overall: a decent place to order from if you’re close by and hungry, but I’d never crave it or venture out far for.

This place is a solid hangout, and the pizza is delicious. The lack of liquor license is made up for by the BYOB/no corking fee. Well done local but not divey vibe. Summary: Good food Great hangout BYOB Local

I went here the other night and while I must say it is definitely a hole in the wall place the pizza was very good. I has the Gambari, which had shrimp, spinach and feta and I loved it. The prices were right and the waitress was friendly. We had a groupon and it was perfect. Not a first date type of place but the food is worth it

I’ve only eaten at Kyro twice but both times I really enjoyed their pizza. Their 10″ pizzas are just the perfect size when you’re hungry. The last time I was here, in December, I ordered the Mount Vernon pizza and my dining companion had the Hawaiian pizza. I’m normally not a fan of pineapple on pizza but it was a nice sweet compliment to the chicken. My pizza had just the right amount of pesto on it and I loved it. We also split some curly fries as an appetizer. They were great as well. It’s harder to find curly fries around Mount Vernon so I’m glad I know they’re here. As for my latest visit, my friend and I ordered pizzas– he had the Giza and I had the Astoria. They look very similar! Mine came with diced tomatoes(huge bonus; I dislike having pizzas with while slices of tomato on them, as when you take a bite the whole tomato comes off) while his had red peppers, and we both had feta and olives. He really enjoyed his pizza and especially the cumin/tomato sauce that came on the side(Confession– I liked it too!) My pizza was great– my friend joked that it would turn out bland since it didn’t have meat on it but the slight saltiness of the feta cheese gave my pizza a great flavor. In all, service was fantastic both times I went there and the food came out pretty quickly. I like their location; it’s on one of the quieter blocks in Mount Vernon but it’s still really close to Charles Street. I’m definitely a fan of their pizzas but I think next time I’m going to try one of their sandwiches. I’ll report back!

This place is pretty good. The food was really good and fresh. The lemonade(no free refills) is fresh squeezed. It was quiet when I went but more people need to know about this place because the food is delicious. The reason I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I asked for my sandwich with no feta and my sandwich came out with feta. Other than that, no complaints about this place!

Pub grub! Pizza and sandwiches, nothing too extravagant. Stay away from the Swarma. I did not find it appealing. Get the pizza! It’s a neighborhood pizza place. Come grab something and walk to first Thursdays. Ask for Angela, she is a great server. How can you beat their prices, wifi, outdoor seating and BYOB?

I’ve eaten at Kryo a number of times in the past because I used to work a block away and still frequent the place from time to time. The food is never great but it fills my big belly. Unfortunately my last experience at this psuedo-pizza, kind of middle eastern restaurant officially puts it in the graveyard and on my prestigious«no go» list of bad restaurants. And mind you, its not easy getting on this list. We ordered carry out a few weeks ago and not only did the order literally take about 90 minutes to prepare, but it was completely wrong in every way possible when we got home. Like I mean they gave us the wrong meals. When we called back to sort the issue out they literally lied to us on the phone repeatedly and refused to amend the problem or offer us a coupon, voucher or apology. Who the hell does that? Oh I know… a arrogant nimrod from the Middle East.(I’ve been there folks… the people are about as pleasant to be around as a sour milk farm on a hot day). And when I say this food sucked during my recent visit, I mean it from the bottom of my cholesterol filled heart. I feel like I could get better Middle Eastern food from a Bazaar in Kabul. It’s a shame to because this place used to have decent food… especially the hummus. But you know what, if your treat your customers like Mullah’s treat their women, you lose my patronize no matter what kind of hummus you conjure up. Oh well, Cazbar is a few blocks away and is about 1 to the millionth power better when I get my sporadic Middle Eastern cravings.

I’m impressed with the variety of Kyro Pizza’s menu and the twist that it brings to pizza and the like. Here, you’ve got pasta, calzones, salads, sandwiches, and of course, pizza. You’ve got the Mediterranean falafels, kabobs, and gyros, but also both the standard Italian pizzas as well as the plentiful non-traditional pizza specialties. The non-traditional toppings were what caught my eye. I’m always big on being adventurous and Kyro Pizza allowed me to indulge. The India Pizza and the Giza Pizza were interesting. The Mixed Seafood Pizza was also a good choice. I loved the fact that this place offered wholewheat crust. Sometimes it’s good be a little healthy. But overall, though Kyro Pizza’s pizzas were different and I appreciate that, it was nonetheless pretty average.

I would probably do 3.5 stars. Came upon this place with my side-job coworkers after we did a wedding setup at the Walters. It was completely empty, aside from a guy working at his laptop not far from us… this guy eventually fell asleep and was out cold for a good 20 minutes… we couldn’t tell if he was the owner/manager or just a random guy eating there but it was pretty funny regardless. I had the India Pizza, which had a good amount of chicken. I enjoyed it! Can’t remember what my coworkers had but they both liked theirs… I know one of them was still hungry after his sandwich/sub but I have no idea how much he normally eats so not sure if it was small or just his appetite. Service was casual-locale, family-feeling. More New York brisk than southern hospitality but not in a bad way. I’d go back here if I was in the area.

(07/13/2011) Some permutation of «Egyptian pizza» has been in this spot for over 10 years. The menu here is pretty much the same as the old«Al Pacino’s Café»: wood-fired oven-baked pizzas, modern Middle Eastern specialties fused into pasta, sandwiches, and salads. The Middle East Combo has that mix of all your faves: thick hummus(flavored with lots of tahini); mildly smokey, very eggplant-y baba ganouj; crunchy(a little tough) falafels, nice tahini dressing; somewhat plain tomato and feta and house salad(the 2 salads are better mixed together). I love that the sandwiches come in pita, instead of bread. My usual sandwich is the Kofta(basically Middle Eastern-spiced meatloaf/meatballs), flavorful, moist, in a pita with a creamy, mild, tahini dressing, sauteed green peppers and onions(put the side salad into the pita sandwich, makes a nice cool, crisp, fresh foil to the meat). Have always loved the specialty pizzas; lots of creative combos, you’re sure to find something that you like. Plain strips of meat on pizza, like the lamb on the Giza, or the chicken breast on the Koko and Mt. Vernon tend to dry out and get a little chewy, I’d stick to either minced or sauced meats like the BBQ chicken on the Nouba, or ground beef on the Mexico(taco on a pizza) or the Sloppy Joe. Seafood makes a nice topping you don’t see in too many places. Get the Sharm el-Sheq, if you like strong, smokey fish flavors(from the smoked salmon and caviar) and definitely use the lemon for the acidity to complement that fishiness(in a good way). The space has lots of windows and is relatively bright, booths comfortable, service(dine-in or carryout) seems to be hit or miss depending on who’s working that day(I have seen the male manager/owner be brusque with some people, but he’s always been civil enough to us), prices are reasonable. Would like to see the place continue on; they’re as familiar as neighbors. *Bonus: for the lactose-intolerant, they can put dairy-free soy cheese on your pizza.
