Met up with a local friend and he took me to this bar. It’s located inside an interesting building called the Belvedere hotel that feels like it has a lot of history and character. The bar itself is pretty awesome. It has a darker, wooden décor with a couple TV’s showing sports games. The service is excellent — the lady who served us at the bar was friendly and made a tasty Old Fashioned. The alcohol menu has plenty of good options, including local brews. We also ordered some food and it was delicious. Highly recommend the brie&black forest bacon pizza. Pizza was not overly greasy and the crust was fluffy. Deviled eggs hit the spot. 2 food dishes and 3 beers and 1 O.F. and the bill w/tip came out to $ 64.00 Well worth it and if I’m in the area I will be back!

Stopped in again for a late night dinner. Lovely quiet on a Tuesday night. They have overhauled the menu. No more crab cake sandwiches which were my regular choice but not the best. This time I ordered the turkey and brie croissant. I worried that the brie may be overwhelming but the sandwich was Fantastic! The little bit of fig jam and the toasty crust are perfect. I paired it with a Gallagher’s Smash drink. It was perfect. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles sandwich. It was great, he said the andouille sausage really made it. So we are liking the menu so far(it had been getting stale) and are excited to revisit where before we pretty much just patronized because it was so close.

The pasta tastes like a glorified store-bought ragu sauce. The food is consistently bland and flavorless. It’s extremely overpriced for the quality. Our last visit we ordered crab dip to start and it came with one 7 inch baguette which was clearly not enough for this big bowl of dip. When we finally got a hold of a server we asked for more bread and were told it’s $ 2.00 per extra bread. The server offered to bring us some crackers while we wait for the bread to get heated up. They brought saltine crackers. Bland, partially stale saltine crackers to go with this $ 14.00 dip that didn’t have enough bread to start with. By the time our $ 2.00 bread comes, the dip is cold and we decide to leave. PCEOB

Love the atmosphere. Very comfortable and not pretentious at all. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. Probably a spot we will spend a lot more time in.

Over the years, I have found the Owl Bar to be less than awesome. The location is beautiful and if you can ever manage to get seating, it’s a great place to chill with friends. I love the Snake Bite(guinness and cider), which is a must have staple here. The mushroom pizza is very good. But overall, the price point for the food is high for the quality of food. Service can take awhile, starting from ordering to closing the check. When busy, it’s hard to find a place to stand. Unfortunately due to the layout, when the seats are filled and the tables are taken, there is very little room for people to enjoy the bar area.

Want a really well crafted drink in a spot drowning in history? Come here. So happy we stopped in and had a drink. This was a gorgeous spot and had a great crowd. You could feel the history of this long running bar everywhere you look. Just watch out for the animal heads everywhere! The husband had a Manhattan and I had something that required an orange zest to be set on fire. I can’t remember the name but both were quality drinks. Worth the $ 10 – 12 price tag. We didn’t have anything to eat here, so I can’t comment on the food. I’d keep this in mind for a pre– or post– dinner drink place. Our bartender was friendly and the overall ambiance of the place was interesting and unique. Very cool find.

Came here for brunch with about six people a few weeks ago. Love the ambiance, and I ordered the breakfast pizza. Most of the girls were satisfied with their meals, but I found my pizza really really doughey, which was not really what I was looking for. My friends found the bloody mary bar a great addition!

LOVE this place! We ate here twice during a weekend in Baltimore, once for dinner and drinks and once for lunch; both amazing! The nachos are huge and one of the best nachos that we’ve ever had. The burgers are so good — love their fries. Make sure to ask them for their sauce options, they gave me a delicious aioli sauce to go with my burger which was the cherry on top. The atmosphere here is great — love the décor and the vibe in this place. The service was great as well. I wish we could go back, but we’ll have to wait until we’re in Baltimore again.

This bar is found inside the Belvedere Hotel, so it was totally different than I expected. The space is huge with tall ceilings and funky décor. **Spoiler Alert! Do not go here if you are offended by taxidermy, as there are many pieces of exotic taxidermy here that would upset you. I have only had food here a couple times, but the hamburger was great, the duck fat fries were amazing, and the crab dip was so so. Most of the time, I have frequented this establishment was to grab a couple drinks. The drinks are fine. The service… Is less than desired. If you enjoy the feeling of being ignored or that you are annoying someone asking for another, then you will love this place. Many times I have sat at the bar and had a female bartender. She seems nice, but never has a fun attitude and takes FOREVER to wait on you. She will walk by you a thousand times with her eyes diverted even though your drink is empty. She will ignore any obvious body language that most bartenders are able to pick up on. Plus, she will have her back turned away from you working on something behind the bar instead of focusing on her customers. Basically, she thinks she is too cool to be your bartender… I guess the only reason this is 3 stars versus 4 is because of her… She has never done anything personally terrible to me, but she just has no sense of urgency and isn’t the friendliest bartender… Owners take note.

3 years later, as i said i will come back for dinner i did. Timing is everything, i guess. Anyhow, i ordered the fish and chips it was decent not bad, a little oily. The potatoes were good, and the two drinks i ordered tho strong just wasnt my type. I went adventurous and safe and both fell a little flat on the deliciousness spectrum, tho strong. Service was touch and go, although the waitress was busy. All in all decent.

This was a great little hidden bar tucked away in the Belvedere Hotel. Upon walking in it feels like you’re heading out on a safari with the African animal heads on the walls in addition to the brick work that gives the impression of African art. It smelled amazing in here with a wood fire oven in the corner where pizza was being made on a non-stop basis. The people watching was pretty awesome for the few hours I spent here. It was quite the diverse crowd. The drinks were solidly poured and the bartenders really know how to throw together a complicated drink. I will knock this place on the calamari and it’s choices of accompanying marinara and pesto aioli; I wasn’t a fan. I think the calamari needed more seasoning and the pesto aioli, though creative, wasn’t complimenting to the dish. All in all, I’ll be back…

The décor is amazing. It seems high class but you’ll be fine in jeans or yoga pants. I have never been at night, but I’m sure it could get dark in there with the dark wood everything. The food was alright. We got the portobello fries for an app, the Owl Bar Burger and Carne Pizza. The pizza was the best thing. Seriously the best pizza crust I have ever had. The portobello fries were heavy. I’m a big eater and could only eat two. Too much for an app. The burger was decent. I always like pretzel rolls. The craft beer selection is good. They have a few of their own beers that local breweries brew for them. I like how they present their water. They use empty liquor bottles. Even though it’s tap, it makes it feel a little special. The bartender wasn’t pleasant but she wasn’t rude either. She just didn’t seem to enjoy her job. I’ll go back again for the pizza.

Located in Belveder hotel. Mixed drinks were very good but light on the alcohol content. Burgers were somewhat tasteless, as were the sweet potato fries. The anti– Valentine’s Day theme drew us in but most likely won’t be back.

The drinks are good, the surroundings are cool and historic, the food’s OK but not remarkable, and the service is meh. All in all, it comes together as a reasonable place to grab a drink provided you sit at the bar. Grab a bite to eat if you want, but don’t expect to be wowed. If you’re at one of the bar high-tops you take the risk of getting one, maybe two shots at drinks. A cocktail, a beer, a burger and fries took two hours from seating to check. And while full, the place wasn’t super-slammed. Our server was nice enough, but there was a lot of time spend over by the bar and service station instead of checking on tables. And when there was a table check, she took that one order and ran off instead of pooling 2 – 3 tables per pass. Our burgers were cooked to order, but the pretzel rolls are a bit dense and the burgers didn’t have a ton of flavor. Not bad, but I’ve had a lot better. The patties and toppings get lost in a lot of bland bread. The duck fat fries were hot and crisp, however, and served in a generous helping. Some vinegar for them would have been great, since the garlic aoli on the side while tasty added to the fattiness instead of helping cut it. I’d be willing to stop in again to try the pizza, and the chili didn’t look bad either. I would recommend sitting at the bar itself where service seems to be pretty efficient. Whatever you do, don’t sit at the dining tables outside of the main bar room. You might was well be in Outer Mongolia.

Came here to grab drinks but everyone in my group ended up ordering basically full meals because of how good the food looked. I was a little confused by the extremely nice hotel interior at first, but the Bar is straight through the lobby, slightly to the left of center. I also thought the food seemed expensive, but I think the taste and quality made up for the price. A friend ordered the ginger teriyaki wings which were crispy and delicious — too bad we sat under a fan and the place is generally pretty cold, as they cooled fairly quickly(but were still good). I split the harvest fruit salad and the mushroom pizza. The pizza was great! I usually don’t like thicker/chewy crust but it perfectly complimented the flavors here. The salad was good but a tad too sweet, with not only the raisins and candied nuts but also the creamy/sweet dressing(could’ve done without or at least with less of the latter). Someone else ordered the umami burger and it looked amazing and they said it tasted the same way. The interior décor is dim but feels cozy at the same time — you can sit at tables or the bar. There’s tons of cool and classy owl-themed decorations and there’s two TVs above the bar that play various programs. Our server wasn’t the nicest considering it wasn’t that busy at 9PM. In terms of drinks, the table ordered the house red wine and a drink with ginger beer(not a Dark & Stormy but I forget the name) and they were both just okay. They seem to have a host of exciting cocktails though so I’m looking forward to coming back here and trying some more drinks and food!

Thanks to fellow Unilocalers, I picked this place for a date night dinner. Never been in the Belvedere before. Very cool. The history of this place was pretty fascinating. The drinks list as even more so. I’ve been on a Moscow Mule bender lately and this might have been the best one I’ve ever had. Eats: Fried pickles(to serve as a base for alcohol) Ahi Tuna BLT(hubs) Port Wine Burger(me) There was nothing left on any plate. At all. The fried pickles were super tasty. Crunchy and awesome. Hubs raved about his BLT. I don’t eat fish but he loved it. The Port Wine burger with the port wine sauted onions and goat cheese. Pardon me while I wipe the drool from my mouth just thinking about it. Definitely get a reservation for this place. Watched quite a few people walk in only to turn around and walk back out. Very cool vibe. Will definitely go back soon!

In the old Belvedere Hotel… now condos. Came during Artscape. The bar is legendary and fantastic. A great place to hang out. A little darker and it would be mysterious. Was once a speakeasy and boasts a ton of famous visitors(see the pictures coming in the door in the old hotel lobby). We brought our 8 year old and it was ok. Orioles game was on. The food here is great… at least the woodfired pizza. Seriously great sauce, chewy crust, and great toppings. The drinks looked fantastic but I love craft beer. They feature local breweries weekly it appears and lots of great options this time by Jailbreak. The atmosphere, coupled with good craft beer and an openness to all comers give this a 5 star rating.

What a perfect location to start a memorable night! The owl bar is conveniently located by two gay dance clubs and bars, Grand Central and hippo. Though Hippo will become CVS soon. The 13 th floor is also an elevator ride away at Hotel Belvedere. The exposed brick wall stands to be a witness of the the wonderful time we had. The brick oven yields delicious pizza with crisp spongy tasty pizza. Caprese pizza is my favorite but not so much of the crab dip pizza. The menu does not cater much to people who want to be on diet. Apparently it is an expert of fried portobello, calamari, and duck fat fried. The pizza is pretty good size. For a party of 6, you easily order 2 – 3 pizzas to share with a salad and few appetizers. Reservation is highly recommended.

I’m not normally a fan of hotel bars but The Owl Bar is an exception, located on the ground floor of the Belvedere Hotel, this bar is cool and stylish. This is a place you can sit at the bar and catch a game or sit in dining area to enjoy a casual meal. Drinks were well made. They have a nice list of cocktails and also many beers on tap and in the bottle. My server was incredibly sweet and made for a fun evening. All around quality bar and worth a visit if you’re hanging in downtown Baltimore.
