Stopped here before getting on a cruise in Baltimore. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but this is a really nice liquor store. The liquor is on the first floor, and the entire downstairs is a big wine cellar. It is really cool. They had a decent selection of wines. The employees were very helpful and even let me know the one bottle of wine I was buying was on sale for 2 for 11.99 when I only planned on buying one. Their credit card thing wasn’t working when I went up to purchase, but the employee was very apologetic. I could have waited but I ended up paying in cash to save time. I would come here again if in the area.

It’s a little bit pricier than the place I normally go to — about 1 – 2 dollars more expensive — but still very clean and a large selection. When I first walked in I was looking all over the store for the wine section and didn’t see anything except for a small display in the front with a few bottles. When I mentioned to the cashier that there was hardly any wine he told me that the display at the front was just the wines on sale and that they have a wine cellar downstairs. The stairs were tucked away in the back of the store so it was kind of hard to see. When we went downstairs it was like heaven(in my head there are harps playing and angels singing LOL). There were tons of bottles to choose from! The bottles on the walls were even organized by which country they were from — France, Greece, Spain, etc. If I am ever looking for a specific bottle I’ll definitely head here again!

The neighbors used to frequent this place, but the owner is apparently trying to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. Prior to opening the store they promised the neighborhood organization(RNA) that they would not put light-up beer signs in the windows, no neon lights outside, etc. They of course lied. Everyone in the neighborhood basically accepted this over time, the windows are full of beer signs, they have literal neon rope lights strung outside, but at least they took the giant tv that was facing OUTSIDE down from the window. A few weeks ago they mounted two enormous trashy ridiculous tv-looking signs on the outside of the building. They can be seen from a few blocks away, are on 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, have misspellings, and the incorrect time — classy! So obviously many of the neighbors complained. Go check out their Facebook page before you spend money in this place — there is now a rambling message from the owner talking about how he used to support the neighbors(by lying to them about how he would run his business before opening it? By constantly having multiple cars double-parked at the sub-shop he runs across the street?) but that they have now been«stabbed in the back» and will«not be toyed with» — odd way to support the very neighbors that you blatantly lied to and our now upset that they were lied to.

This is a nice Liquor store. I used to buy wine here occasionally, but the selection is more beer and liquor than wine. They only carry a few bottled and boxed wines. The liquor store attached to the Harris Teeter at McHenry Row has better wine selection. I would prefer to support a locally run business vs a chain store, but recent events have led me to avoid this store completely. This store recently put up a very bright/flashing screen on the side of the building which can be seen for blocks. It’s on all the time and does not fit in with the neighborhood. I would shop there again if they took the sign down, but it appears that the owner does not plan to take it down despite community opposition because the liquor board received a complaint probably in response to the new sign. This is the Facebook post the store made on 1÷17÷15 : «To whoever decided to complain to the liquor board: I know it was one of you from the neighborhood, so next time you decide to go and run your mouth off, make sure you know exactly what you’re talking about, ok? smile emoticon After all i grew up in, love, and respect the neighborhood, more than the people that come and go… So we love being stabbed in the back by our very own people! We give donations to your events, we try to maintain ourselves clean, organized and trouble free because we do believe in the community’s standards. But after this, you can forget our support, since you all think it’s fine to toss us under the bus. We WILL continue our business, we WILL continue to thrive, and we WILLNOT be toyed with by a bunch of little kids that you are, complaining over social media, and not to us personally. We know who you all are, our friends and our foes. To those who support us, we thank you tremendously! To those who don’t, we hope to see you soon! Have a Nice Day grin emoticon!» I wish the owner would be more welcoming to this new generation of Baltimoreans who hope to contribute to the neighborhood and support their local businesses.

The family working here on New Year’s Eve night was super friendly and polite with a bit of city edge. We came in twice to look for something to buy and bring to a party. They have a large selection of beer and wine upstairs, and I think there’s a wine cellar downstairs. They also sell other drinks like iced tea and energy drinks. The place is clean and very well lit and super organized. It also was one of the few places open along Fort Ave. that night.
