Unfortunately this location closed but the website says they’re opening up at a new location in the fall. This is one of those places you root for, because Claudia is just amazingly friendly(she remembered me after my first visit and knew my name after my second), the food is tasty, and the décor is pleasant. Not a lot of veggie choices, but it’s German food…

My husband and I ate here last might for the first time using our Groupon. Let me begin by saying that not only was the food great, but so was the lovely owner and her quaint place. Claudia is the loveliest cook and hostess in all of Baltimore. As owner, cook and host, she takes good care of her guests. Overall a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back!

the owner is super sweet and genuine, makes the experience so much more welcoming and personal than most other restaurants. though it might be an issue for others, we both loved the fact that the menu is set for the night — most restaurants have three or four things they do really well, café einstein just makes it easy for you. if it’s available, try the meat/cheese appetizer with pretzel rolls — absolutely amazing. both our entrees were delightful, and i took home half to eat the next day. so glad we ended up coming here. i think they may be moving locations soon, so keep an eye out for their next location!

Wonderful food, nice location, and a kind and friendly staff. Also this place is BYOB, which I love. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Baltimore.

The best German food I have ever had and I have been to Germany. Everything on the menu was DELICIOUS, especially the dessert! The service was amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and so fast. The setting was intimate and nicely decorated. They speak German and from what I can tell, take pride in their fabulous restaurant. I highly recommend this place and look forward to visiting again.

This little place is delightful. After a week of final exams, I was looking for a relaxed little place to enjoy a nice lunch and Café Einstein was perfect. Not only was the owner very sweet, the food was amazing. I didn’t think I was a fan of German food before but I was clearly wrong. The potato and carrot salads were tangy and flavorful. I actually hate carrot but found myself cleaning my plate of every bit. My pork was tender and the sauce was rich but not overpowering. And after trying the spaetzle, I finally understood why Germans are such fans. My fiancé’s curry wurst was fresh and juicy and he literally wiped his plate clean of the curried ketchup with the pretzel bread. I strongly suggest that you give Café Einstein a try. It made our day!

This is a nice place with some semi-private seating with curtains on one side and small tables on the opposite side(with no curtains there). The interior is nice and mellow. The place is pricey so I don’t agree with the café’s description of «inexpensive food in the neighborhood». We got dinner. They convinced us to try the beet ravioli appetizer which was delicious but was all of three pieces for $ 12.95! Our entrees were $ 18.95 each(each came with a small house salad that was fresh and crunchy). The dessert was 6.95 each. The total for 2 people was $ 68 plus tip… did the restaurant think it is inexpensive eh? my dessert was the Ferrero Rocher– I can’t say I was impressed. The wait staff is attentive though somewhat unwelcomingly smart-alecky– maybe it was the waitress’s version of smart and friendly. The owner was very nice.

I married a German dude, and we love trying out German restaurants in the area to compare to home. This place made the cut! We tried the beef rouladen, pretzel rolls, potato salad and sausage. By the end of the meal, hubby was mixing up German and English, which happens whenever he eats food that reminds him of home. We could hear people speaking German at other tables too, which is always a good sign. The potato salad was perfect — no mayo and the perfect amount of vinegar. The rouladen was plentiful with a yummy rich gravy over the top. The sausage was sooo good that we almost ordered some to go. The pretzel rolls were delish. We bought three to go. Note that this was a Sunday brunch menu, so we had coffee with it. The coffee was nice and strong. For dessert, we had banana chocolate cake. It almost tasted like tiramisu with bananas and chocolate — it was so so yummy! I have a feeling we will frequent this place!

What a wonderful Café in Fells Point. It’s NOT just the ambiance but the food is really really good. The décor is amazing and the owner Claudia is super nice and very friendly. If you’re looking for a café that is «not your typical» café, then head over to Café Einstein and while you’re there grab you a Strawberry Caramel Cake… it’s JUST that GOOD!

Café Einstein was AMAZING. Super nice owner, very well-done renovation of a row home to maximize space while still being bright and welcoming. The food was great, there’s both traditional Italian and German-themed food, and plays on both themes that are more fusion-y; all made with fresh ingredients. The menu rotates based on what the owner can get fresh, which I love. The desserts were to die for. They also have great coffee and tea. Overall, it’s a little gem of a place right around the corner from the craziness of the heart of Fell’s Point. Well worth checking out.

Finally made it to Café Einstein on a Friday night to use a soon-to-expire Groupon, which ended up being a a great deal. The interior’s extremely comfortable and trendy, with a cool drop ceiling, semi-private bench seating and local art displayed on the walls. I tried the burgunder gulasch which I wolfed down in less than 5 minutes. The meat was tender and flavorful and the homemade spaetzle was delicious. Fiancé had the beef rouladen — it was good, but the meat seemed a little dry to me, so I was happy with my choice. Each entrée came with a small house salad, which was basically some mixed greens with a few peppers — nothing to write home about, but fine for tiding us over until the good stuff arrived. We debated getting dessert and ended up each getting her own, which was definitely the right call. This place has some DELICIOUS homemade cakes! We tried the strawberry caramel cake and the Ferroro Rocher and both were amazing… both pieces were gone within two minutes and it was hard resisting some more. BONUS: This place is BYOB! Service here is great — the owner and our waitress were super attentive(even though they were basically running a close-to-full restaurant by themselves) and dedicated to making sure their patrons were comfortable and satisfied. Will definitely be headed back soon to try some more of the menu(items change weekly). The owner mentioned that they may be moving to a new location in the near future with a real kitchen(currently they make all the food behind a café/deli service counter)…there’s plenty of nice vacant spaces in Fed Hill — would love to have you over here ;)

We had a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday evening with the perfect setting for an evening of conversation and wonderful food. Schnitzel, sauerbraten and meatloaf cooked to perfection preceded by a wurst and cheeze tray that included the best liverwurst I have ever eaten The setting, the service … and Claudia treats you as if a guest in her own home. I would heartily recommend this to anyone who has a fondness for tasty german food and enjoys a family atmosphere.

It took me a while to give Café Einstein a try but I was very impressed once I went. The atmosphere is great, the service is super-friendly and the food that I had was excellent. So far I’ve only been for lunch on a Saturday and they have different Sunday brunch menus and a dinner menu that I want to try out. Just a warning fot the vegetarians, this is German food so your options are a little limited.

I don’t even know where to start that’s how impressed I was. I came here for a friends Christmas party and was blown away by the overall experience. We had pork in a mushroom gravy that was the best I have ever had! I don’t even like mushrooms but the taste of the meal made me forget that. The desserts were made fresh that day and they were amazing. The owner/Chef was the nicest person I think I have ever met. She made everyone feel like they were at home. She made sure her guest were happy and she was very attentive. She takes a lot of pride in her work and by the taste of her cooking she is very passionate in her cooking/baking. I can’t wait to bring my family here. This is not a place to pass up!

This is by far the cutest little café I have seen in ages. It looks like it popped out of a HGTV design show, with its updated, modern appeal and traditional rowhouse length. The melding of new and old in architecture is a great fit for the melding of the two in food as well. Café Einstein boasts traditional German and Italian foods, but also German and Italian food with a twist(i.e. Pancake Sushi, which I tried!). Reading the menu alone makes you smile. It’s like cuteness and creativity are oozing off the page. I love that there’s free wi-fi during the day when you are coming in for the coffee or tea(I got the the chai tea) and I love the new owner, Claudia. I have read a lot of people’s reviews here and they all mention her because she is just THAT warm and friendly. She honestly makes the food takes even better, which is saying a lot. I can’t wait to try the bratwurst there. I am from Wisconsin where there is a big German influence, so I know a good wurst and honestly, I haven’t had them as good as back in Milwaukee since I left. I am excited to try her authentic version! I would be remissed if I didn’t tell you about her desserts!!! PLEASE — if you buy nothing else there, do buy her sweets! I had a carmel, whipped cream, tort-y shortcake-y thing that I forgot the name, but mannnnn… it was the stuff of dreams! In the case, it looked so decadent — like it was going to be a heavier cheesecake or something. I never mind a little weight to my desserts, so I ordered it. When it came out though, it was lighter than an anorexic angel with wings, floating across my tongue with the lightest cream and just a touch of strawberry and caramel. It was over too soon. I almost got another, but I knew that would be wrong of me. Gotta save something for next time, eh? Yummmmm…

Very nice and charming restaurant. Claudia is very attentive but not sure how it would be if she were actually busy as i have never seen anyone helping her. Food is very good and portions are just right. Call and ask what her specials are. Also, be sure to check out for certificates and get yourself a dessert. Hope Claudia stays open a lonnnnnnng time!!!

Went here for lunch today, and really enjoyed it. Good currywurst, fantastic potato salad and beet salad. The german pancake sushi(I had ham and brie and spinach) were really good and a fun idea. A little bit more expensive than I would expect, but everything was delicious and the owner was charming. Definitely worth some visits!
