I’ll start with what I didn’t like: I ordered soy milk with my coffee and it was old, it curdled my nice coffee and that was really disappointing. The kitchen seemed to be out of a few things on the menu, like bacon. I don’t know if this is normal or just because it was a busy Saturday. My husband and I shared a chemex of the Golondrina coffee, we liked the rich cherry flavor and got about 6 cups out of it. They serve Counter Culture coffee which is a brand that we like. Everyone at the table except me ordered the pastrami sandwich and loved it. I order the bahn mi with tofu, the tofu was perfect and the veggies were nice but the bread was a little too hard to bite through. The tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons was my favorite thing I tried. I actually liked the food more than then the coffee, it was tasty. We liked the look of the place too, it’s a hip joint.

I really love the space, ambience, and vibe. The café is an extension of Woodberry Kitchen. The décor is full of antiques and small house plants. The staff from head-to-toe give off this strong Brooklyn-like hipster vibe. Cute place to get in an affected instagram shot. Overall, the coffee is definitely on the better end of the spectrum in Baltimore. I think my biggest issue, repetitively, is service. I asked a question, given it was a bit dumb, regarding one of the drinks and I got a very standoffish response from the barista. I get it… we’re aiming for this hip, cool coffee joint. But no need to be rude. In addition, every time I eat there… service is inanely slow. At its worst, it took twenty minutes for me to see the server to get water. And that doesn’t even account the time it took for me to get in my order. On a slow day, getting the check is also ridiculously impossible. Bottom line: After multiple service issues, take out is the way to go.

No matter the time of day, this place is always crowded. The coffee is always perfect, and the pastries are spot on for breakfast or an afternoon snack. If you want a table, you wait at the counter to be seated, but you can always walk around to the side counter to order a drink and pastry to go. I highly recommend a cortado with maple, and a mini apple pie as a sweet afternoon pick-me-up.

Artifact is a charming coffee shop in Meadow Mill. There is a decent amount of seating, free wifi for customers, and a fantastic menu. Please folks, there is no need for Starbucks when you have these kinds of local places around. This is my favorite spot when its rainy and kinda cold. There is a rustic cabin like feel; the only thing missing is the fire place — but the kitchen kinda counts. I happened to stop in on an unseasonably warm day so I started with the iced coffee. They use counter culture coffee and a Japanese cold brew method — essentially a pour over of strong hot coffee into ice — creating a bright flavored coffee. so. so. tasty. For breakfasty brunch like foods, I have a hard time passing up an egg sandwich. A house english style muffin griddled, topped with sharp cheddar and if you like — sausage — probably made at their butcher shop. They are doing some fantastic things with meat — yumm. Putting the muffin on the griddle add a nice warm crunch, but also a little oily on your fingers. The egg was perfect to my liking — not completely cooked yolk, but it didn’t explode in my hand or on the plate.

Another preppy old warehouse turned residential and small business. All the cool kids are here. The food and coffee are excellent. I had the smoked fish salad and it is awesome, so get it and feel good about yourself. I also got the cheese spread and an americano. They like to turn bread into crackers here.

Fantastic café. Located in an artifact architectural structure it’s self the interior comfort is only matched by it’s warm employees and managers. Everything is freshly made and its service exceptionally appropriate. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Definitely a five-star experience. If there’s any drawback, I say any drawback it’s the fact that it’s busy and there may be a wait to enjoy the experience.

I stopped by Artifact on a Sunday after church expecting to grab a decent cup of coffee and finding a quiet corner to read. I walked in and was greeted by a wait list. Yea, that’s what you read, there was a wait for a table at a coffee house! Granted they quoted 10 – 15 mins and it was more like 5 so I wasn’t too annoyed by the whole thing. I was shown to my seat and a waitress came over and took my order and brought me water. On that visit I ordered a sandwich and a chai latte, the chai was amazing! The wait staff were also pretty nice, despite the wait I didn’t feel like they were rushing me along or hurrying my process, at one point i actually thought they were avoiding me and I had to flag someone down to get my check. Overall it’s a nice place with a really cool atmosphere, next time hopefully I can go when it’s not as busy.

Yummy espresso beverages, cozy ambiance and mouth-watering baked goods. All in all, a great place for coffee and a treat. I’d highly recommend Artifact Coffee if you’re looking for a quaint café.

5 stars for ambience & coffee. Such a beautiful place and probably my favorite coffee in Baltimore! It’s a nice escape from the city. The maple latte is delicious and not overly sweet at all. The English muffin sandwich + bacon is so good. They’re generous with the bacon too. The breakfast bowl with grits is pretty good. I am not a big fan of grits, so I didn’t think it was worth $ 10. I would order something else next time! Tips– — Sunday morning is very busy. By about 10am there was a wait for tables. My boyfriend and I arrived at 9:30 and had to sit at the«bar seating» in the side room, which actually has some wobbly chairs. Not comfortable at all! Luckily we scooped up a 4 person table that one girl had been using to study. — I don’t recommend coming here with more than 4 people. 2 people is ideal otherwise you’re going to wait for a long time. — Japanese pour over coffee is bomb too!

Artifact is a café that is artsy just like its name suggest. It’s a hidden gem! The ambiance is hip and dreamy. I’ve been here many times and I am always tempted to get a pastry because they are alway so enticing! The food here is spot on – you can never go wrong! My favorite are the breakfast sandwiches. They have a rustic taste which is like nothing I’ve tasted before. This café is a great place for business meetings during breakfast or lunch time. It’s also an amazing place to read a book or write a book – get those creative juices flowing. Service here is ok but the food and space speak for itself!

There’s always something good on the ever-changing menu at Artifact. The ingredients are impeccably fresh. Produce is super crisp and vibrant. Even simple sandwiches get an attractive plating with pickles on the side and decorative, brightly-colored veggie garnishes. The roast beef sandwich I ordered came served up on crunchy toast with cool, crisp lettuce and an aoli lightly touched with pepper and horseradish. The beef itself was mid-rare, thinly shaved, tender, and well-rested enough not make the bread soggy with juice. Drinks range from single-serving pour-over coffees to espresso drinks, a Chemex pot to share, cold-brewed iced coffee, teas, and tisanes. Local beers are in the fridge along with a selection of wines by the glass and bottle, classic sodas, and sparkling water. You can also get a handmixed soda with your choice of syrup. A rotating handful of spirited cocktails are also available. Today’s choice for me was a hot local apple cider spiked with rum and a touch of maple syrup. The coffee is Counter Culture(though I prefer Zeke’s), and they handle it pretty well. A generous hand is used with making tea as well. I like that it’s housed in a re-purposed mill structure from the age when the Jones Falls was a source of industrial power in the northern part of the city. There’s a lot of stone, finished concrete, recycled woods, and industrial chic. Given all the hard material, it’s pleasantly surprising that the noise level is pretty subdued. Artifact’s one of the nicest places to drop into for a tasty lunch. The food is just… right. I haven’t found anything to seriously fault it with yet, so I have to give a full five stars.

Loved the interior feel of this place — lots of exposed brick wall, pipes, etc. The food was great(I got the griddled English muffin with egg and cheddar). I got the raw honey cortado and that was great; the white monkey iced tea was a little too watery for my taste but it might be the type of tea that is(it’s a white/green/oolong type tea, as opposed to black tea). There’s also a parking lot, so no worries about space for your car. The service was a tad slow but it was also a busy Sunday afternoon and my friend and I sat outside.

FYI: If you sit down, there is table service! The service is incredibly friendly and quick about taking and making your order. Atmosphere is really good for working in, and the music really complements the cozy feel. I tried the coffee soda — not my cup of tea, but not horrible either! It tastes a little like watered down coffee that’s been carbonated and sweetened to me. Maybe that’s not the sexiest description, but it is worth a try, just to satisfy your curiosity. The hot coffee itself is excellent, and worth the trip itself. My friend go the hot apple cider and it was DELICIOUS.

Cute hipster coffee shop with a rustic atmosphere. Beautiful unique flowers decorated the entrance. With the amazingly beautiful latte art and absolutely delicious food. It was the perfect Instagram opportunity to take breathtaking pictures. The Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich on an english muffin was the bomb! The best fluffy egg and amazing sharp cheese was all balanced out on a warm toasty english muffin. Broccoli Cheddar Soup was equal delicious. Do not let the green color scary you away. It was a creamy and melt in your mouth soup. The Mocha Latte was tasty not as sweet as I would have preferred. Pikesville Caramel Latte was perfect and definitely sweeter than the mocha. Mmmm. If given the choice I would visit Artifact Coffee everyday. I definitely ate with both my eyes and mouth!

This place is so freakin busy!!! Luckily, I got a table and its funny to see people walk in and out even if there was an open table only because it doesn’t have an outlet… This place definitely seems like the go to study all day place with that kind of attitude. Nonetheless, my usual brunch is kinda boring… bacon/egg/cheese on an English muffin… and a croissant. Even though its hard to mess this up, they didnt :)… I did however opt to get the jasmine green tea which was exceptional after the first refill due to initial water being luke warm… The waitress at the time seemed a little out of it as she did let my tea sit for a long time as it got cold prior to getting to me and the food came out at staggered times from my wife’s. Which meant that the service is definitely slow. Overall, a good experience if you can find a table. There are tables on the outside if the weather is nice.

Artifact is the best coffeehouse in Baltimore, bar none. From the beautifully rustic décor to the delectable and seasonal menu, the genius of Spike and Amy Gjerde is immediately apparent. The baristas are knowledgeable, servers friendly, cuisine fresh and the aromas that waft from the kitchen or bar — my god — are enough to make anyone salivate. Is the coffee good? Does the name Pavlov ring a bell? I’ve been frequenting Artifact for years, extolling their caffeinated virtues to many a friend and am only now posting a review; shame on me! Dropped by for a cappuccino before attending an event in Hampden. Superb as always. Full bodied espresso harmoniously married to sweet, creamy milk. Artifact will be celebrating its 3-Year Anniversary in a few days proving its staying power as an invaluable asset and beloved local fixture in the coffee community. There is always something new to experience: coffee cuppings, Bowl and a Beer, Taco Libre, and other events which highlight, educate and satiate.

First time at Artifact Coffee. My friends had been raving about this place and so they took me when I finally had a chance to go. Ambiance is great — it’s what you would see on pinterest for your rustic ideal home. Loved it. Sunday mid-afternoon seemed like a good time — we didn’t have to wait for any seating and it seemed like many of the people there were there to either study or enjoy some food along with company — nothing too crazy. Lucy was helping us and she was a delight! I am terrible with choosing when I’m somewhere new so she was very accommodating. I was probably rude in the way in the way I asked, but I honestly had high expectations so I wanted the best of the best. I asked her what she recommended and she provided an assortment of different items. I basically chose what she highly recommended and decided thats the best way to go. lol. From what I understood, the food menu is ‘consistently’ changing with respect to what the local farms are able to provide. Not sure how true it is, but sounds reasonable and I will say that the food tasted fresh — so I am pleased. I should know what I got(maybe the photos will help), but here I go with my generic description: Japanese Cold Brew Iced Brew Coffee, Corn Soup, Sandwich with Fried Talapia. Uhhh… it was amazing. I don’t know how I would describe it, but the last bite of my sandwich tasted just as good as my first bite. The corn soup was perfect. Get it. No question. The coffee with the mix of these food wasn’t probably the best idea, but I didn’t care too much — it didn’t upset my stomach. It was lighter in taste and fit the bill for my caffeine fixing. Be back soon! :D

My Basil Mint Creamy was too legit to quit, but I give this place 5 stars because of the friendly staff and the location. A mill built in the 1800s turned into coffee shop?! How freakin cool? The whole Hampden area is such a trip. The best part is that Artifact has taken the historic value of this place, and they are using it to its full potential by offering full service and extremely quality coffee. Just can’t wait to come back for the actual food!

This being my 3rd time at Artifact, I was really disappointed this morning. I went to get 2 egg and cheese and 2 morning coffees and it took 30 minutes. I mean, what the f?! That order seems pretty basic and ordinary for me. I know this is not«fast food,» but 30 minutes is WAY to long for an order to go. And there was a guy there blabbering on about how he was a chef with Chef Opie, but really just a body in the kitchen and didn’t get paid, oh, but the best was when he said, but it made him into who he is now. Give me a break, you said you only worked 10 shifts. Bye Felicia.

I love this place. And I am extremely disappointed that I can’t frequent this place very week(or every day). This place is perfect for me. Love the vibe. Great old building – open, airy and very cool. The people who work there are all very friendly and relaxed. The coffee. The food. Pretty much perfect. We went both days last weekend and loved every minute of it. I had the sauteed greens the first time with an egg on top and a baguette on the bottom. Could eat this every day. And day two(Sunday brunch) I had the chaqueles. We also tried a couple of fresh baked items(sticky bun!) and with our chemex you are in the perfect place, especially on a chilly day. Need to go back and try the veggie bahn mi. May be woth the hour+ drive!
