Loved it! Food and service excellent. We are new town and were very pleased to find such warm and welcoming place. Will certainly make sure to spread the word around with my colleagues and friends. The quality of the food is top, and staff treated us as family! A keeper!!!

We have been to Al Dar so many times. The food is always spot on. The service is friendly and attentive. Take out is superb. A reliable, delicious place to eat. You should go there!

Liked the atmosphere. Food is good and the waitress was really nice. Give yourself a few extra minutes finding parking along Montgomery Ave

Al Dar really hit the spot for our group of 5 adults and two small children. The mazza plate was shared and very much enjoyed by all, while one couple split a generous bowl of mussels. The warm pita with seasoned olive oil earns raves from all of us too. But what Al Dar does best is fish — and what a beautiful collection of fish it is! I had the sesame crusted tuna cooked to a perfect«rare». My husband loved the arctic char. The fillet of sole, we all agreed, was the most delicious of all, even topping the fabulous whole branzino my son ordered. My sister ventured into vegetarian territory and was charmed by the perfect blend of spices and vegetables that comprised the mock moussaka. We were delighted to find that the restaurant wasn’t as noisy as we’d been warned. The staff is friendly and helpful and it’s a nice place for families with kids. I’d go back to Al Dar.

The perfect neighborhood bistro. Good food – and very dependable if you know what to order – but also homey and comfortable. Their coconut-crusted salmon with mashed potatoes is probably my favorite fish dish ever(even compared to much more expensive places). Also great: grilled vegetables with feta, the greek salad w/a delicious mustard dressing, fries, and hummus. Also phenomenal pita and dipping sauce to start off the meal. Been coming here for nearly two decades and have never been disappointed.

Hands down the BEST restaurant on the mainline. The food is one of a kind and the freshest veggies anytime of year! We recently relocated to Charleston, SC and the only thing I miss about Philly is this place! Sadly, I’m guessing shipping hummus is out of the question?

We like the food a lot and found that we’re happiest when we simply order a lot of different kinds of appetizers. Our biggest complaint is it’s very, very noisy; even when only three tables are occupied it’s noisy. Now we do take out via Mainline Delivery.

The food is good, and the décor is fun. Two caveats: when the menu says«crabcakes» I think you’re entitled to expect more than one. And the TV was loud.

Still a bistro. Still good food, reasonably priced.

I like Al Dar. The menu is Middle Eastern with some Greek in the mix. Meals are pricey for dinner, but the quality is good and this was the only place near my old apartment where I could get kibbeh. Lunch prices are much more reasonable and you can grab a pretty good falafel sandwich.

Not consistent. Sometimes it’s decent, sometimes it’s not. Been here many times over the years and alway’s wonder whether it will be a good meal or not. It’s too pricy for a place that’s not alway’s on it’s game. The best thing on the menu that has never been anything but good is the Gyro. The greek salad was very lame the last two times I tried it — bad dressing, not enough feta, cucumbers or olives.

I have been here twice, both times the food was excellent. The service is very good, with attentive wait staff. They have a very comprehensive menu, and both main courses(lamb) and lemon sole, were tasty and presentation was good.

This is a stone’s throw away from where I live. Very cordial servers. My wife and I have been here twice and have tried quite a few things from their menu. We liked them all so far. Try from their rather long list of starters. The ambience is also warm and friendly, perfect for a cosy dinner out.

While looking for a change of pace in what to eat the other night, we opted for Al Dar — the Middle Eastern fare sounded appealing. It was our second visit in a few years. This will be our last. After dropping $ 75 on two apps, a beer, a glass of wine and two entrees(including tip), we felt it wasn’t worth it. Here’s the lowdown: ATMOSPHERE is a tad loud, but not out of hand. APPS were poorly done. The calamari was rubbery and the marinara came in a plastic cup, which screams of «we don’t care enough to put this in a glass side dish». The falafel was hard as a rock and tasted bland. WINE was overpriced. The price per glass rivaled some of the downtown restaurants, except the selection wasn’t nearly as good. ENTREES were a pleasant surprise. My sea brass was prepared properly and offered a nice combination of flavors. My fiancé had the stuffed cabbage and enjoyed every bite. SERVICE was good. When we expressed our dissapointed with the appetizers, our server apologized and offered to remove the calamari from our tab. That’s how it should be handled. Kudos to her. BOTTOMLINE is you can easily drop $ 75 on dinner for two at any number of restaurants on the Main Line. I’d encourage you to do it elsewhere. Al Dar is overpriced and inconsistent.
