Good Mexican food, good portions of whatever you order. And if you, don’t want to eat in the regular part of the restaurant. You also have the option, of eating in the bar.

My new boss took me here when I first came to Bakersfield. I’ve been here about 3 weeks now. It was okay. Nothing great. I expect Mexican food to be spicy and well, this wasn’t. I’ve been here twice and neither time was all that great. Let’s start with the salsa and chips. The were okay. Nothing super. Salsa was bland. My wife even said it was not good. I ordered the red chile, which is not like chile in NM(nothing like it). It was good, but no spice whatsoever. My wife ordered an enchilada salad and liked it. The dessert saved the day though! It was really good and huge portion for all of us to share.

They accommodated our seating request without issue, a booth with a movable table, which most of their booths do not have. The server was very friendly, chatted with our 4-year old daughter very sweetly. She was also very good with refills and every other part of her job. The chips and salsa were average, the chips did not seem very fresh. I ordered a two item combo with a pork tamale and a cheese enchilada. The enchilada was average and the tamale had very little pork. The beans and rice were also average. The ice cream that came with the kids meals were very cute. A scoop of chocolate chip ice cream on top of a sweet tortilla bowl on top of a bed of whipped cream. The best part was the tray of do-it-yourself toppings with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and different types of sprinkles. Service — 5 stars My Entrée — 2 stars Kids Dessert — 5 stars

We stopped here to eat on our way back to NorCal. The service was excellent, the food is your basic MexAmerican food but taste good. Didn’t have that heavy feeling when done eating. I had the chicken fajitas and it hit the spot. I will stop here again with no hesitation.

Our visit today included my husband and two kids. We decided to take advantage of the kids eat free on Wednesday nights. It wasn’t busy at all and we were promptly greeted by a friendly host and were seated at a table that was accommodating for our needs. Our drink order was taken and brought out almost as soon as we sat down. I ordered the chicken flautas with rice and beans. They were very tasty and cooked perfect and crisp. The rice and beans were average. The waitress we had was very friendly and attentive. We never needed to ask for a refill as she was already bringing us another one. The children’s plates were average considering they both ordered American style food. They came with a dessert which was cute, a scoop of ice cream in a sweet tortilla bowl with DIY toppings. It made it fun for them. All in all the food was your average Mexican food experience but the service is what will bring us back.

This place is not worth the money it’s too expensive the food was not fresh my cheese enchilada was cold, the pico de gallo was not fresh and they only gave 3 tortillas for a 16.50 $ order of fajitas I just feel like it was very over priced and last but not least the waitress was not to friendly

Ordered take out. Decided to get an order of the guacamole appetizer. In the restaurant it is served table side and make fresh. When I arrived back at work the guacamole was not the same as you get when you eat in. It was tasteless, watered down and had more tomatoes than avocado. When I called and talked to the manager she said it was made in the morning but I could bring it back. Horrible service along with the horrible guacamole.

Where do I begin. I know, if you’re looking for real Mexican food, this is NOT the place… unless you’re a Gringo who wants to overpay for cheesy, fried food and eat some chips w/salsa. The restaurant was nice and the service was great. The food? Major fail. It’s overpriced for one. Secondly, I had the Milanesa and it was gross. It didn’t taste right. My husband was not happy about his meal either. When I asked for an Horchata to drink, they didn’t carry Aguas Frescas… um…this IS supposed to be a Mexican restaurant right??? I’ve summed up Mexican restaurants into 2 categories after this. The first, is authentic Mexican, that are usually hole-in the walls where White people are afraid to step foot in. The second, I call it «white people’s Mexican food.» That’s exactly what Mauricios is. A place for White folks or Mexican-Americans who don’t even speak Spanish, go to eat at what they THINK is Mexican food. No wonder that place was full of gringos. It’s not a bad thing if that’s what you like, but for me, I’m never going back there again. I mean, no horchata?!

I went to Mauricio’s with slightly low expectations from other reviews, but we had a groupon and they are right down the street so we gave them a try. The food was good– my chicken fajitas had good flavor. My boyfriends carnitas plate was a sliced tenderloin and not the expected variety. Not authentic, but we all know that. Solid 3 stars.

Love this place The staff was wonderful and catered to my special needs with a big smile the whole time the food was good but what really got me and my family was how worried about my food being just perfect coming from a cancer patient I would definitely recommend this restaurant

I’ve been here a few times. I’ve only had the enchiladas and they are pretty good. Not the best mexican food in town but it definitely hits the spot.

Decent food, Decent service. Not personally my favorite spot for Mexican style food, but good overall. We always come in with a large group, so there is a lot of pressure on the staff to help out 8 adults and 2 kids, but they do very well. I almost always stick to fajitas or enchiladas, and both are good. They even run some cool specials on the fajitas so you can split them with another family member, or take them home for dinner the next night.

The wAitress insisted I try the chile verde, when I asked about the albondigas soup… Soory I complied, because it was a waste of $ 16 dollars. I’m pretty sure she pushed the priciest thing on their lunch menu to me. Not impressed with the service, and the food was just«meh». If it had actually been good, I wouldn’t complain about the price. But seriously, sub-par food, high prices. I came because I’m stuck here for a few hours. I should have gone to subway next door!

I’ve tried a lot of Mexican restaurants in Bakersfield and both of the Mauricio’s restaurants are awesome! I love their house margaritas and their shrimp cocktail. They make the guacamole table side which is very fun(and is SO much better than the fake stuff they serve at Mexicali which has been in Bakersfield forever). Mauricio’s is the best Mexican food in Bakersfield!

I was craving some enchilada’s for some reason and decided to give this place a try. It is way bigger then what it appears from the outside. It is clean and has many booths. I sat down in a booth but it was so uncomfortable I moved to a table with a normal(but small) chairs. I was greeted immediately by my waiter with a mouth full of sir’s, hot chips and salsa. Good start. I ordered Enchiladas Banderas and a soda. It looked good on the plate and tasted good too. No complaints. My service was good. When it came time to pay the bill was $ 17.96. I left a $ 2.04 tip to make it an even twenty. I had enchiladas yesterday at a different restaurant and the food was just as good, if not slightly better, and it cost $ 8.53. My conclusion: The food was passable, the service was good. I thought it was way overpriced. $ 20.00 buys prime rib not enchiladas.

The food has got to be the most blandest Mexican food I have ever had. A bit overpriced but no flavor what so ever This place makes Taco Bell seem like fine Mexican food. If you have stomach problems an can not handle spicy food Then this is the place for you. This is the only restaurant I have ever seen where you have to ask for hot sauce. It is not on the table. My guess would be because it might upset people’s stomach. An if you are coming here You must be used to bland food. Don’t come here go across the street to la villa. A lot better an cheaper

We were in town with a friend and thought we’d try this place(and didn’t check out the reviews here — oops!) Nasty, nasty food. Service was okay, but nothing overcomes slop on a plate. My arroz con pollo was a gloopy mess of cheap cheese melted into a sea of orange grease on top of burned chicken and overcooked rice-mush. For others, it wasn’t any better… tacos were in some store-bought premade shells, tasted poor, etc. And the join ain’t cheap. Avoid!

Yes, we know, this is not«authentic» Mexican cuisine. No place is if it serves fajitas(which are great here). but, it tastes very good, you get lots of food, it’s not very expensive, and the staff is always friendly. I have never been disappointed here, they have always made the food perfectly even for large groups. I like this location better than the one on Rosedale.

Ok, let’s get one thing straight. I can appreciate good Mexican food, and Bakersfield has plenty of it. However, as far as happy hours go and decent prices for food, this place takes the quesadilla! Everytime my lil’ bro and I roll into town, we always make it a point to do happy hour here. And, generous that they are, it’s from 3−7pm all 7 wonderful days of the week! Beers and drinks are ridiculously cheap($ 2 – 3) and it’s half off appetizers. We usually end up making a full meal out of it. The chips and salsa are bottomless, but still fresh and delicious. The food is consistently good. Is it groundbreaking and unique? No. Is it yummy, inexpensive, and portioned large? YES. The deep fried ice cream is always a nice end to a meal here(and is usually a MUST for me)…it’s friggin’ huge, but sooooo yummy. For those of you not in the know, it’s a giant scoop of chocolate chip ice cream rolled in cornflakes and deep fried and then sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and served in a tortilla shell also sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and covered in whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce… aaaaaannnnnnnddd a cherry on top to boot. Mmmm, my mouth is watering right now just thinking of it. The bar area is kind of small and you have to be sitting there to get the happy hour specials(although, I was there for dinner right at 7 in the dining room, and they still gave me happy hour price on my beer). Service can be a bit slow, but they wait staff is usually pretty friendly and will try to be attentive as possible given how busy the restaurant is at the time.
