I have dined here twice and the food was fresh and hot. My recent order was the 3 items because I wanted to try the chile relleno. So I also ordered the chicken enchilada and chili verde tamale. Whoa! My husband stole half my tamale because it had just the right flavor and my chile relleno — no seeds and my cheese along with the casing-delicious! My enchilada was just as good with the sauce tasting homemade not canned. It’s all authentic, you may wait awhile for your food but worth it!

A hidden gem. We have passed by many times but never knew it was there. It’s hard to believe they have been open for twelve years and we have never seen it. From the outside it looks mediocre but once you open the door it is very handsomely decorated with spanish arches and décor. On the outside window it boasts approval from Pete Tittl. He is correct for a change.(IMO) The food is excellent even down to the chips and salsa. I always judge a Mexican restaurant’s food by the beans and rice. These were spot on. We will definitely return.

I came here about a week ago and immediately noticed we(my kids and I) were the only people in here on a Friday. A lent Friday if I might add. Usually Mexican restaurants are packed with people ordering shrimp dishes. We sat down any way mostly because I was to tired to leave and find another place with tons of people so in a way it worked out. I ordered enchiladas ‘à la carte’ and they were okay. I’ve definitely had better and worse. So I wasn’t really impressed which I didn’t think I would be as I ordered ‘ala carte’ my son had the Mexican pizza and it too was okay. My daughter had shrimp tacos and j noticed she removed everything and practically only ate the shrimp. I don’t have much to say other then it wasn’t aweful and it was wonderful My Coronorita was quite delightful though. The ticket seemed way to much for a mundane dinner.

The food was pretty good– had the steak fajita burrito and it was really yummy. The salsa was delish! Took some home with me LOL. My sister ordered nachos and some of the chips were burnt, not a good taste… could have been an off day. Some of the food took awhile, we got shrimp and that took the longest. They do have 2 TVs that i could see but they were pretty small, not really gameday material. The bar looked pretty well stocked. Its pretty casual and the place is kinda split up into sections so you get a little more privacy. Our waitress was nice. There was also another lady that would come by and check on us too, maybe the manager/owner? Not too bad, will try again. Need some more salsa!

I’m not sure if this place is new owners, or something, but it says«El Aguacates» on the menus and building now. I will say I didn’t think their food was anything special. It was typical American Mexican. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and it came with only a few shrimp, disappointing.

Can’t believe this place has 4⁄5 stars. I recently moved down the street from this restaurant so decided to give it a shot. My family and I were waiting around the entrance for at least 5 minutes while the waitresses just walked around and stared at us. When they finally addressed us the chick we got was not very nice or welcoming. I thought I’d give the food a chance to save the day but it was a joke. This isn’t legit Mexican food. It was awful and over priced. The food was bland and flavorless… lacking the usual Mexican spices. Only nice thing was décor.

Always loved this place. The food still has a great taste. We have been coming here for a few years. Something has really changed the last two times we have been here over a couple weeks. The service is definitely not up to par. The food arrives in stages. I bring my family. Usually 10 – 12 of us with my grand babies. It takes about 15 minutes for us all to get our food. If you go out to eat with babies you know how hard this can be. The food servings have been cut. Ordered the fajita trio. Got 4 shrimp, about 6 slices of chicken and six of steak. Same as last visit. About 6 table spoons of watered down beans. Grand babies chicken nuggets came 15 minutes later. No drink refills. No more chips. Had to go to the back and ask where my grand son’s food was. Just really sad. One of my truly favorite places but most likely won’t go back.

Great Mexican food. I ordered the fajitas and a diet coke. Good portion sizes for standard prices for this sort of restaurant. If it was a little bit closer to the house we would definitely go more often

I travel more then most. My wife decided on a classic Mexican meal and this place has some great reviews. I would be humbled to add to their 5 star collection. The staff is very friendly, the cooks are fast and the food is wonderful. I had the chicken Diablo burrito and it had the perfect spice. You should give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Food is great. service… not so great. Our server never checked on us, didn’t offer to refill our drinks or give us more chips and salsa. Caught her watching tv with the bartender. Finally had to go ask for a refill, box and our check. Won’t be going back there ever again.

It was the family’s first time here and while the food was good the service was terrible. When our food was served the waitress left and never came back. She did not stop at our table again to ask if we wanted another drink or if everything was fine. The Zacatecas fajitas were good.

We have never eaten here before. First of all the chips were good but not great but the salsa was flavorful and tasty. My husband had the three item combination with a Chile relleno, beef tostada and beef taco. I had the Chile Verde enchiladas. The Chile relleno and Chile Verde enchiladas were excellent. The rice and beans were quite good. The taco was ok and the beef on the beef tostada was tender but not hugely flavorful. We both had Cadillac Margaritas which were good but not great. The service was good and the staff were friendly and polite. The premises were clean. We will definitely go back to sample other specialty items.

I stopped in for taco Tuesday. Four Small tacos on a plate for $ 5. Great deal. The Place is in the corner strip mall. Right around the corner from where used to live in the southwest. Thing about this place is the staff really polite and nice. Every time I come in here they treat me like family, even though I’m a gringo that doesn’t speak Spanish! Food is good as any bar and the restaurant is nice too. Family-friendly and not too busy during the week. Nice restaurant on whether you speak Spanish or not… Well recommended, I will return!

The best Mexican food in Bakersfield. Get the fajitas and you won’t be disappointed. I’ve liked everything I’ve eaten here.

We went there for the first time last night and we very pleased. First of all and most importantly, the chips and salsa were great. The chips were warm and light and airy and the salsa was rich and perfectly spiced. For me, this is a deal breaker for Mexican restaurants; if the chips and salsa are bad, I’d never go back. We ordered chicken fajitas, which were excellent! We are agreed that next time we come here we would just order two orders of these for the three of us to share. (Plus a side of sour cream and lettuces:) We also ordered a couple molcajetes, one chicken and one pork. They were both loaded with nopales, which wasn’t bad tasting, but there was just too much of it, in my opinion. Where we were finished with them, the bowls were still half full of nopales. The chicken molcajete was good and the sauce it was swimming in was great. The pork molcejete was a disappointment. The small amount of meat was too disproportionate to the veggies and about a quarter of it was burn to a crisp. All of the meal came with a generous portion of rice, beans, and guacamole.
