The food was delicious and there were huge portions! Service was prompt. Prices were relatively reasonable.

This place needs a good cleaning. the wall has food stains where we sat at. I could smell the fish tank at the entrance. I had the ginger beef which was ok. my companion had the orange chicken which was bad. will not be going back.

Been coming here with the family for over a decade but tonight was a disappointment. Flavors was not on point and the shrimp was spoiled. We always order our regular which is about 10 dishes, 9 of which have shrimp in it. I brought it up with the owner after tasting the soup that the shrimp was sour and spoiled he took it off our bill but when the rest of the dishes came out 8⁄9 dishes also had shrimp that was spoiled. Needless to say we won’t be coming back for awhile and if we do no more shrimp for us unless it can be guaranteed fresh.

Excellent food! Lams is my go to Chinese food in Bakersfield. The food taste great and the service is phenomenal. Whenever I visit friends and family in Bakersfield, I have to eat at Lams. Original Lams has finally returned!

The food was okay. Very salty and greasy. The service was slow. We actually had to get up and find someone to get refills. But towards the end, there was a roach crawling on the wall behind my husband. We won’t be back.

We really like the food here we always order the same items for to go. My husband who is half chinese likes the authentic asian flavor on their food. however I think this place needs major cleaning maintenance. If they can’t keep their dining and waiting area clean, I hate to imagine how their kitchen inside looks like. And don’t even ask me about their restrooms cause it’s filthy. No papertowels and the sink looks disgusting. We may like their food but no way were coming back until they get their place cleaned.

Just an update. Wow, still the best Chinese Cantonese Food in Bakersfield. Wonderful Chow fun not greasy and just out of the hot wok. BRASED tofu was tasty and hits the spot.

Great authentic Chinese food. Not too greasy, awesome lo mein! Apparently the original owners are back and the food is back to the way it was when people raved about it. I never had it before, but I can attest that it is very good now.

Nothing fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. Tasty food, quick service and extremely reasonably priced. The pot stickers were delicious. Simply good Chinese food.

Lunch specials are totally worth it. Quantity is very good. Quality is authentic. I’ve been here with my boyfriend a few times, and my boyfriend comes here pretty often. We’re always satisfied. :)

Solid 4 plus Unilocal stars. Cantonese dishes quite good. Brisket Chinese Stew won’t disappoint. Pretty authentic. All foods great portions. Fair prices. Their Hot Spicy Squid, Shrimp, Scallops been wonderful the last twenty years. As Unilocal’Rs say this Dische is best in town. If you like Authentic Cantonese foods and know how to Order you will find this place Delightful. Or foods Tasty. Interior bit old But we go for the Foodie’s Yummies. You want better then go to Montery Park or LA Chinatown. Update. March 25th2:45pm. What Happened??? Different shift cook??? Beef Chow Fun worst in 30 years. Nearly whitest color with total lack of soy sauce in the stir frying. Hardly any green onion. They had to take it back to add soy sauce and reFry. We left 90% unEaten. Fried Spicy Shrimp was good. Fried Tofu have super Chrispy Batter unlike the previous visit which was Magnificiently Fluffy Chrispy. But IT took forever to arrive to table when most our other foods already eaten. We had to remind them where is this dish??? Black bean Squid good. So this visit 3.5 Stars Max. Oh. Never got our 3 cups water. Thus I Honestly feel its necessary to drop our previous visit’s 4+ stars experience. So hated doing that. Obviously theres a Master Long Time Senior Fantastic Chinese Chef here as well as Junior Chef. Next time we go to Lam’s it will be at weekends and its BUSY hours. When the Master Chef is cooking

This has been my to-go-to place whenever I’m craving for some serious authentic Chinese food. A fellow Asian, a Singaporean, friend showed me this gem and I never looked back! Service to this place has been mostly outstanding, a few misses in the past but it wasn’t too bad. The ambiance is a meh thats why I couldn’t give it an awesome 5star rating. :(Old furnitures, cracks in the old upholstery, an aquariun with dirty, murky, green water by the entrance(I say just completely get rid of it). The restroom was always clean though. It is their FOOD that makes me come back here over and over again! First off, when you see alot of locals and most of them are Asians, in a Chinese restaurant, that is always a good sign. They have an extensive menu including staple Americanized Chinese food but I dare you to try unfamiliar dishes and I promise you, you wont regret it! :) My personal recommendations: –Sizzling rice soup(season with white ground pepper, available on all tables) –Fried, breaded tofu squares with shrimp on top(forgot what its called although I’ve ordered it more than 5 times lol). Drizzle with their magic, dark sauce(included with the dish. See pic. –Peking duck(has a little bit of a wait since they don’t pre-make it) buts it’ll be worth it :) –Spicy fried breaded pork(see my pic, forgot what its called) Now that I’m not in Bako anymore, I’m having withdrawals. This is one of the best things in Bako that I’m missing. :(

Four stars for consistency. I come and eat quit often and never really thought to give it a rank. The fact I come back should be reason enough to give the rating. I’m gonna sat four stars cause some of my orders throughout the years have been totally horrible, but most have been pleasant especially the duck over rice/sub for thin noodles. I enjoy the food. Service is getting better still not the best, appearance is ok. I’ve eaten at many Chinese places especially in LA China town and this place is fair. I’m grading the food on this as 3.5 stars closers to 4 so I’ll give the four.

Walked in. It smelled like fish. They have a 18 inch fish in a tank. It does not look like decoration it just looks trashy. So walked past the tank hoping the dining room would get less fishy… It didn’t. We walked out.

Had to update my review for Lam’s Chinese Restaurant. Have been here a couple of times since my last review. Based on these last two visits, their food is now better in quality and taste than Panda Express restaurants. Sizzling Rice Soup, House Special Chow Mein Cantonese style, Sweet & Sour Fish, and Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce were all tasting better than before. Portions were still generous, and the staff is still okay. Got to upgrade them to 3 stars now.

Amazing lunch specials. If you don’t want noodles, no problem they’ll change it for rice with no extra charge. Food is fresh and brought to the table hot hot hot. Friendly staff, very fast and attentive. We are loyal customers.

So let’s just say all of the late nights, Cîroc sippy-cups, carnivorous eating and sun-curing of Vegas made for a strong case of Chronic Post-Vegas Syndrome on the seven-hour drive home [and the following day thereafter]. Yet not everyone in the car had the same feeling of death as I did, so it was only natural that we would stop for a solid meal along the way home. So I put on my big boy boxers and went along with the team’s desire for some Chinese @ Lam’s in Bakersfield. What food is best for a sour stomach? Soup of course! I ordered the sizzling rice soup equipped with veggies, shrimp, chicken broth and hot rice which sizzled into the soup as the server poured it in. To say that I had three cups, in my condition, was a true testament to how good it truly was. But did it cure my CPVS? Sadly, It did not. T’was a shame that I was not able to fully indulge in the pleasures of this good Chinese food as it is a true void for me and all who live on the Central Coast for that matter. Next time, we will have to stop on the drive TO Nevada.
