Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler

Our favorite joint in Bakersfield! This town is seriously lacking some good restaurants but Chuys always delivers!

Tried the Fajitas which are on special Wednesday’s. For the price, $ 6.99 it’s a GREAT deal! I got the tri tip this time and the portion was big enough for at least three taco soft shell servings. It came with 2 shells, I would order extra if I was you, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and beans. A huge plate! Yes all for $ 6.99

This place is consistent and great for a quick bite and a beer. The staff is always attentive and friendly. I love the half chicken salad, the chicken is tender and marinated in awesomeness., The salad is loaded up with pot beans, cheese, chips, and ask for both french and vinaigrette dressing. My wife always gets the chico’s burrito which is terrible for you but heaven to eat. Can’t go wrong with the cheap PBR on a hot day.

Tonight I experienced one of the most ignorant discriminations I have ever had in my life. I was hanging out with a very good friend. He is a ARMY RANGER that has served our country. A man that ask nothing of any one but to serve his country. He voluntarily join the arm forces to defend this country. He was ask to leave cause he had a patch of his unit and badges of his accomplishments his combat patch, a small patch on his vest over his heart. This place was Chuy’ s on rosedale. This is a place I have been a customer for so many years. Never again wil I ever step foot. Please share and spread the word that chuy’s discriminates veterans.

Never in a million years would I think that my boys would request Chuy’s for dinner or lunch after church, but they do quite often. I think it’s great, but hilarious!
They both enjoy several things on the kids’ menu. My youngest loves the mini corn dogs and my oldest loves quite a few things. Each kids’ meal comes with French fries, a drink, and 2 oreo cookies. If you haven’t had their french fries, you need to try them. They are super delicious!
I would say everything I have tried has been good. Their food isn’t my favorite, but it’s ok. I do like their shrimp though.
I know my boys and husband like the fact that they serve tortilla chips and salsa with your meal. My husband loves the soda machine that gives you a million choices. I, myself, don’t enjoy it because I don’t think the sodas taste the way they should. They don’t taste like they come straight from a can or a regular soda fountain. They all taste weird to me.
I do know people enjoy coming here to watch sports on their televisions and they also have special nightly events like biker night.
My family will continue to come because my boys really love it here.

Great food and wonderful service. Very friendly staff and the food is served quickly. Even with a large party.
The mesquite grilled chicken is amazing and their white fish meal is truly delicious. Very family friendly even during peak hours.

Casually went in and never going back again. Rude and inattentive staff. We walked in unsure whether we sit ourselves it get sat and no one was there to greet us. Had a couple of waitresses look at us but no one bothered to say hi or welcome us. We decided to sit ourselves since no one seemed to acknowledge us and still sat there about 10 minutes and nothing. Never going back decided to leave without wishes to return.

Country Cookin´
I usually come here for a nice tri-​tip sandwich or some grilled chicken. Both of which are tasty, straight country meals. Made Only in America, come for a real country experience in a biker type of joint. If you come on certain days you´ll find the parking lot flooded with bikers who come to Chuy´s for the food and the drink. A very casual atmosphere which can also be family friendly, if you don’t choose to come on a Monday or Thursday night.
Though I do enjoy all of the food, the service could use a bit of work. The set up of ordering at the register then having your food brought to you is awkward at best. The crowd can also get a bit rowdy, but I guess that’s not Chuy’s fault. Definitely a place for a drink or four, but who’s counting?
The decorations are a weird mix between Hawaii, biker and arcade. You even get a teddy bear instead of a number for your order. Strange days indeed.
Come try a nice tri-​tip sandwich! You won’t regret the food.

Good food. Terrible service. I’ve been here 3 times in two weeks and you seem to be ignored when a bartender walks by you with an empty glass.

I feel like 3 – 3.5 stars is accurate for this place. The staff had recently gone downhill but the new kids seem to be doing a little better. The food is inconsistent but when it’s good it’s delicious. The casual atmosphere is great. Sadly, it seems that no one but the tiny little gal that busses the tables ever cleans the restrooms so if she’s not working, the restrooms are nasty.

Came to eat with my family. It was our first time there. No one at the door to greet us. Had to walk to the register to find out that we seat ourselves. The food was OK. Salsa on the watery side and chips were ok.
The girls weren’t very friendly and some had shorts that were too short in my opinion. I will never go there again.

Casual place for drinks and food. Half chicken is nicely marinated and grilled to perfection.
Can be noisy at times when close to occupancy but who cares. Drinks are on the high side of the spectrum but your paying for a casual atmosphere to chill.

I have been to Chuy’s several times and have tried different things each time and had not really been all that impressed with the food. But, this last time I tried the tri tip fajitas and they were surprisingly good especially for a counter service place. The tri tip had a great flavor and the veggies were cooked just perfect. My only complaint is that they were a little greasier than I like, but it wasn’t too bad. I will definitely order them again next time I find myself at Chuy’s.

This place is my go to for lunch on Fridays. The fish meal is delicious. Comes over rice, a side of beans, cabbage salad and tortillas. I was skeptical to try their fish at first but when i finally caved in and put some of the cabbage and their special sauce on a taco mmmmmm it was perfection. Free chips and a decent variety of salsas at their salsa bar.
The atmosphere is great and the staff is nice. You can get in and out of there in about an hour. If you’re with a large group though… then I hope you’re not in a hurry because you may be there a while.

I think you can say Chuy’s is a Bakersfield staple. You gotta go at least once. It’s one of those restaurants you go to hang out, have a bite, have a beer, let your kids hang out in the small video game area, & just be casual.
The food is good, most often than not. We have ordered chicken strips, chicken tacos, fish tacos, all the kids meals, the mahi sticks. One of my favorites is the Mesquite Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Put some BBQ sauce on it and it’s yummers! The mixed drinks are pretty good. One of my favorites is the Perfect Margarita. The one thing I would change is this: 80% of the time the waitresses/​cashiers are not friendly. For me customer service is vital to an establishment, so girls, some friendliness would be awesome. It truly sets the mood of the place.

My family and friends have been coming here for years. They have a great menu and great drinks from the bar. The salsa and baja sauce are made fresh daily. All of the tri-​tip, chicken and pork are cooked to perfection! Always serving up fresh food! The service is great and everyone is so friendly! They have many tv’s to choose from also on the patio… Located at the south side of the restaurant are a few arcade games to keep the kids entertained! I would definitely recommend everyone to try Chuy’s!

Their is a reason why I have always talked my wife out of eating here for the pay ten + years since we last ate here. First of this place is an order at the front and they bring you your food. It all sounds good but it just had a weird vibe to it. I guess if you want to get hammered in Bako in the afternoon and so on this is your place to be especially if you have an old car or a motorcycle. The girls that took our order weren’t to friendly and its rude when your talking and laughing about someone in the restaurant when someone else is ordering.
I guess reading a menu is like judging a book by its cover. Their menu looks delicious but what comes out seems like it had just been sitting underneath a heat lamp since yesterday. I had never in my life had a burger with onion rings that were soggy where they looked and tasted like it had been soaked in water after they pulled it out of the fryer. My wifes nachos were covered in refried beans and cold cheese which isn’t to appetizing. After attempting to eat our lunch we both looked at each other and remembered why we hadn’t come to this restaurant in the past ten years.
Leaving the worst for last stop buying the worst frozen french fries that have the weird frozen on seasoning. Leave those back at the Save Mart frozen dollar section.
