First of all let me start of by saying I LOVED the idea of the Naked Cupcake… I could pick my own cupcake & them top it however I wanted for the«Cupcake Queen»(as my hubby & friends have dubbed me) it was win /win, right… WRONG!!! When we got there I loved the cute building until I opened the door. I walked in with 2 ladies standing there doing nothing(no other customers) expected to be greeted and wasn’t. I then started to look at the display(what little there was for a Saturday before lunch time) I finally asked«how does this work» she said just tell me what cupcake you want & then what flavor frosting, the other lady did then say, «and we have sprinkles & toppings as well over here» as she pointed to a counter that resembled my spice cabinet mess. I had heard about the French toast with maple icing topped with bacon bits and so I ordered it as well as a marble cake with plain chocolate icing. There was VERY little variety with only 5 flavors of cupcakes &4 or 5 icings… no much to choose from. I had to try the French toast cupcake first(the idea of anything with BACON makes my mouth water!!!) I took a bite and I swear it was like choking down a week old piece of cornbread! It was SOOOOO dry & the maple icing had little flavor, I couldn’t even taste the bacon… I was sad. So then I decided to try the other cupcake. When I went to cut the cupcake in half it literally started crumbling & falling apart!!! Although it wasn’t as bad as the 1st one I tried it tasted like my 9 year old had made cupcakes from a Betty Crocker box, the icing tasted fresh out of the jar as well… NOTWORTH $ 3(which I normally wouldn’t mind paying for a GOOD cupcake) I’ve had better cupcakes from Krogers for half the price! I would normally try to give a any place a second chance but not only was the atmosphere lacking but so was the cupcake variety & quality… not sure I want to waste my money again!

The Naked cupcake is like no other! You feel like you are in a cute lil country home when you are there, …and you are treated like it too! The owners are always there welcoming you with a smile! You feel like you have been going there for years! The smell of coffee and cupcakes is delightful! Best part is you get to decorate the lil suckers yourself with choices of icing and a sprinkle bar! love it! ;) The ladies made me an awesome GIGANTIC cupcake for my sons birthday… and I just met with one of the owners today to make my birthday cupcake! So Yummmy cant wait!

Thanks to TakeoutWaiter, I learned of The Naked Cupcake… Oh how scandalous the name itself sounds at first impression. I loved the concept of icing-free cupcakes, as it was reminiscent of donut shops where the icing and sprinkles were«made to order.» The novelty seeker in me becomes quite happy to find places that are original. The beautiful exotic lady kindly explained that she actually took on the concept of icing free cupcakes because she didn’t really care for the flavor or amount of frosting usually applied to the usual cylinder-like– 2″ high treat. For double trouble, I choose the chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache. It was a little crumbly but the flavor was good. Her cupcakes are big, 3 – 4″ wide, like a giant muffin. After a thin coating of frosting, the tops definitely get smudged in its container. I give her kudos for creating Christmas cakeballs, which were very cute. What’s also cool about the Naked Cupcake is that there are cupcake parties. You can invite friends or host bday parties here, where everyone makes their own cupcake. This cupcake shop definitely in Bacliff definitely gives other local cupcake bakeries fair competition.

Had a craving for good cupcakes in the Clear Lake area(believe me, it’s hard to find a good cupcake on this side of town!) and so I Googled and found The Naked Cupcake in Bacliff. Nice, small, cozy and clean café. Pria(one of the owners) was very sweet and gave me a sample of the Crack Pie and mmm mmm… delish! Prices for a whole pie of this or their other specialty(Saffron ‘Appie’ Cake) is $ 30. They bake cupcakes($ 3/ea) fresh daily and don’t put any icing, so that you can pick your own flavor of icing. I purchased the Red Velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing and the lemon drop(which was a lemon and orange mini cupcake, $ 1). Both were very moist and delicious, unlike the cupcakes at the bakery across the street from my job on NASA Parkway(but we won’t say any names :). I also had the Nicaraguan coffee, good partner to cupcakes. I will definitely visit again.
