Maggie Rose has a nice location right in the harbor. We sat in the outdoor seating and were served by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic waiter. The chips were tasty and fish tacos excellent. Recommended.

Delicious food and drinks, with beautiful décor. We came for apps and drinks and the bartender suggested the queso. It was so delicious and came out very quickly. I opted for the cucumber jalapeño margarita which was so refreshing.

Nice Mexican restaurant on Catalina Island. Had the lobster enchiladas. Usually get the regular enchiladas with cheese but lot of the Unilocalers were saying to try this so I did. It was okay, lots of lobster meat. Little on the sweet side. Service was great. No complaints here.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice and loved it! We’ve loved the drinks such as the cucumber jalapeño margarita, Pedro’s punch and the watermelon lollipop. The service is excellent because they have great staff. Pedro who is a bartender is awesome! The owners are lucky to have such a great worker!

Really yummy fish tacos, two delicious fish grilled perfectly on fresh tortillas. They were very flavorful, so fresh and a perfect meal after a day walking in Catalina

Order the lobster enchiladas! Trust me on this one, it’s so yummy. Along with your dish you can either get regular Mexican rice or the cilantro rice… get the cilantro rice! You can also pick black or pinto beans I had pinto and it was pretty good. We also got the shrimp tacos it did not disappoint. Super fresh! Try to sit outside you’ll get the view of the ocean with an nice breeze. Free chip and salas, there salas is on fire and when I mean on fire it’s pretty hot hahaha and I can handle spicy. When you run out they bring you out more yay pretty good service. Since there an drought they only provide water bottles which is $.50 not bad especially when you don’t like tap. Overall best Mexican restaurant on the island!

Disappointed… The first place I ate on the island is a big let down… I’m eager to have some drinks with Mexican food… I ordered Buffalo Milk — it is a disappointment, very light drink — tasted like I am drinking banana smoothie Food — not even close to proper Mexican standard… Waitress wants to go home, so she was not helpful at all… Disappointed — 1.5 stars Chips and salsa beats their food and drinks…

My girlfriend and I came in for a quick dinner before leaving Catalina Island. We ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak Enchiladas and the Moms Avocado Enchiladas. Both were really good choices I might admit, and we were so stuffed we could barely finish them. The steak was of mediocre quality; a little chewy, but still acceptable. Avocado Enchiladas lacked a little substance; though it was nice to stop eating meat all the time, I felt like I was eating a crêpe with a side of beans. I think some chicken would have gone a long way. Food — 3⁄5 Service was okay. Our server kept coming back to us to make sure we were content with our food, and she was very friendly. However, we were standing outside the restaurant for some time before someone showed us to our table; this was not due to the lack of availability though and the servers at the entrance barely acknowledged the fact that we were standing there waiting. In fact, they looked up once from what they were doing, and carried on without saying a word to us like«one moment please» or something. Service — 3⁄5 Nothing much to say about the interior. There aren’t any windows so either get a table outside with the sea view or go further inside for more seclusion/intimacy. Ambience — 3⁄5 Overall — 3⁄5

Watermelon Salad was really refreshing! And their mole sauce was absolutely right on the spot as well! We came in after a 4 hr island expedition! Absolutely impressed!

After taking an awesome motorized tour of Catalina, our group of four was seriously parched. We had a recommendation for Maggie’s Blue Rose, and were eager to do some serious drinking. Upon entering the dark and empty establishment at 3:15PM, someone emerged from behind the bar gruffly barked out, «We aren’t serving any more food today». I said, «That’s OK, we’re here for some drinks. Do you have a Happy Hour?». He gruffly replied, «No.» We did an about-face and went to another bar. Spent about $ 150 there. Just about every bar and restaurant in Catalina has a Happy Hour starting at 3PM. Whoever it was at Maggie’s Blue Rose didn’t want to be bothered with our money.

*1.5 What a let down. The first place I eat at on the island and I felt swindled. $ 12 for the Mexican scramble. The cost didn’t bother me. I asked my waiter how are your portion sizes here? He assured me that I would leave full.(LIES) When my plate was brought out you would think someone had eaten half of my food. The plate was half empty! I should’ve taken a pic but I was too upset. They used canned beans. How much egg did they use for this scramble less than a handful of food. They give a complimentary orange juice which was the size of a double shot glass. So tiny. The only upside is it faces the water and they play classic Mexican music. Never again

Prelims: a restaurant situated right along the main strip, the atmosphere is pretty lively and fun. The interior is a bit dark, but I was facing the strip so the background was a bit bright, so maybe that’s why I thought it was dark. The service was very quick after we had ordered our food, but it took a while to get to us; I don’t understand why that took so long though, as the restaurant was busy, but not BUSY, so I feel like we should have been able to order a bit. I ordered the standard breakfast and the fiancée ordered the tacos — bite me, it was brunch hour during our vacation. I order what I want. The breakfast came with a couple eggs, bacon, toast, OJ, the normal stuff — and this stuff is hard to mess up so I wasn’t overly impressed when nothing tasted bad. I thought it was very standard. The fiancée’s chicken tacos weren’t half bad, as there was a lot of meat, there was some flavor, and the beans helped to be a filler. But objectively, for a busy restaurant on the strip, you would expect something of a bit higher class than average chicken tacos — the tacos were a bit bland and dry, with the rest of the fillings seemingly added to increase the weight of the tacos and not so much of the flavor. Coming from San Diego, maybe my expectations were weighted, but with the $ 20+ that I spend on both of us, maybe the tastes could be improved. TL;DR Beautiful city with very average food :/

Came from breakfast/lunch the day we left the island and the food was a-ok. This was the only place that didn’t have a super long line so we decided to give them a chance. The service wasn’t too impressive(I had to ask for my hot sauce twice) and the food wasn’t too memorable. I also waited a while for my drink to be refilled and eventually had to ask for a refill even though they weren’t that busy. I ordered the chicken tacos and they were bland and my fiancé ordered the traditional breakfast and he said it was okay. It is what it is.

Pretty shocked that there could be any negative reviews on this joint. We thouroughly enjoyed our experience here. We sat at the bar since all the tables were taken. When I asked about their being gluten free options, I was informed that 90% of the menu was gluten free. WINWIN for the celiacs out there like me & gluten sufferers! Chips and salsa hit the spot on flavor. Chips fried to perfection, and two salsa choices The cucumber & Jalapeño margarita was out of this world good. What a delectible flavor combo Grilled street tacos – Achiote skirt steak melted in your mouth… literally. I don’t know what the sauce was, but it had the perfect hint of spicy and sweet. I could bottle it up and drink the stuff. Paired with caramelized onions & menonita cheese… Kill yourself

My review is based on the food, drinks, and service. We had the pleasure of enjoying shrimp and lobster tacos. Cervezas and margaritas. We shared shrimp and lobster tacos with rice and black beans and frijoles. The shrimp tacos were super fresh and tasted like it came from the ocean water feet away, literally. There was slaw and some type of aeoli sauce on it. All the ingredients played well with each other. The lobster tacos were equally fresh and good. Our first bite, we both looked at each other and looked out into the beach. It was that good. The lobster was generous and it had the same ingredients to complement like the shrimp tacos. We had cilantro rice and red rice, both actually tasted the same. The beans were like anywhere else. We didn’t have too much of it. The little one found us later after being with some friends and she gobbled up all our rice and beans, either she was super hungry or enjoyed it or both. This was good for us as we were watching our carbs, lol… on vacation. We will definitely return and already started talking about our next trip back to Catalina. Overall, an amazing and breath taking place to be. Enjoy!

Thank you for such a wonderful dinner this evening. The recommended Cucumber & Jalapeño Margarita was outstanding– Order the calamari steak appetizer-the sauce it comes with –you will want to drink it up! Cannot even start to tell you yummy it was. Dinners ranged from chicken with a mushroom adobo sauce, lobster enchiladas, steak taco’s and I had a watermelon, avocado, cucumber and adobo shrimp salad-lets just say the clean plate team was in full swing! Looking forward my return trip, and more of the wonderful menu items that will have to be picked from…

Loved this place. love the ambience… love the staff. love the food. We got avocado enchiladas and potato tacos for dinner… Complimentary chips and salsa were delicious… the habanero salsa was AMAZING! The chips had lime salt on them and fried to perfection. making them addictive… My potato tacos came with a side of blackbeans. these were hard shell tacos with creamy mashed potatoes. pico di gallo and cojita cheese. i loved them. would have been even better if they were soft shell with potatoes done like hash. My wife loved the avocado enchiladas. the cilantro lime rice on the side was awesome. it was rice mixed/cooked with the cilantro paste instead of mixing cilantro in white rice. Our waitress was cheerful. courteous The view is unbeatable. u sit in front of the ocean with delicious food. delicious drinks and the VIEW… that’s a vacation !!!

Such a nice place to visit when you are relaxing in Catalina. We were here for happy hour and had some great margaritas. And we also treated ourselves some heavy hors d’overs to go along with their drinks. RELLENOSTYLEGOATCHEESEJALAPEÑOPOPPERS —(A House Favorite) Jalapeños stuffed with Goat Cheese served with Pico De Gallo and Guacamole SPICYCALAMARI — Pan-Fried Breaded Calamari Steak with a Roasted Tomato Chile Arbol Sauce I can see why the poppers are so popular, I wanted more after my first bite! Really excellent food. Friendly service. Nice location. Next time we visit, we’re coming back!
