Island Toy Store Plus More

I really enjoy ducking into small toy stores when visiting small towns, such as Avalon, and it was a exceptionally enjoyable talking to Leslie (she runs the store with her husband Mike). My buddies and I were just walking around the town when we randomly decided to go inside here. While looking at the toys, Leslie was very kind and started chatting with us. She guessed correctly in that we were tourists on the island and kindly answered all our questions.
Mike and Leslie have lived on Catalina Island for many years now, and both of them have a long history with the island. I don’t know if there are any better people to talk to in regards to learning about the island and how it has changed over the years. Leslie definitely has the inside scoop on many of the nearby restaurants as well as good recommendations of things to do. So, if you’re in Avalon, stop by the toy store and have a chat with them. They’re very kind and I’m sure would love to meet you!

I wish more toy stores were like this! It is a mom and pop shop and real thought is put into each and every item on the shelf. I love coming here with my son, he wants to inspect every single item and the owners are so informative of all the toys in stock and are happy to help my son make a choice. This is such a breath of fresh air compared to the big box toy stores and instead of a toy my son will play with for a couple days these are toys he cherishes! The ADORABLE frenchie who is sometimes there is an extra added bonus ;)

We absolutely love island toys… When we come to Catalina we always take our Grandson there so he can pick out toys the owners are super nice and all around great people and make it such a fun experience. The toys are all high quality and very unique. All the 5 star reviews are a true reflection of the store, sadly some people no matter how much you try to appease them will never be happy. If you want to put a smile on an adult or a little kids face go shopping at Island toys. And don’t forget to say hi to sweet little Django.

Run far far away. The toys are junk. They are the quality of the .99 store at quadruple the price. My son bought 2 cap guns and 2 packages of caps and it was $ 20. They were in packaging. When we opened them (I opened them) they had a manufacturing error and unusable. He took them back to the store and the owner would not take them back because they were open. The quality of everything I’ve seen there is very poor. Everyone I spoke to about the place stated their products are poorly made. They do not stand behind their merchandise (probably because it is so poor). Their store policy is not conducive with happy customers. Business 101, take it.

Wow! My kids flipped out. This is what a toy store should look like. Mike and Leslie who own the store were so helpful. They also have a dog at the store. Django is cute and seems to be treated like royalty around the island. Great store!

We just spent a week at Hamilton Cove with our two-​year-​old grandson. What an awesome discovery this toy store was for us. Mike the owner made some great recommendations. The most fun toys ever !!! And Django us so sweet !!!

I’ve visited Island Toy Store probably around 5 times already, and I cannot truely express how much I love this store. The selection is well organized, and the cute little puppy that comes to greet you every time you enter always brings a smile to my face.
Last time I came in, I purchased several shirts and a few dog toys for my pitbull back home, and they weren’t even officially opened! The owner saw me with my sad puppy dog eyes outside the storefront and invited me in while he did his inventory, even helped me find the clothes outback when I asked! Excellent service, and another definite stop on any trip I do to the island.

Island Toy Store + More was a fun toy store to shop in. I bought my grandson bathtub toys that were a big hit when I got home. Owner Michael Grange was very knowledgeable and a delight to chat with. You will have a delightful time shopping in this store. They also stock pet supplies for the convenience of all local & tourists.

This is our favorite place in Avalon to shop for gifts for our kids. They have cute clothes for boys and girls and super fun toys. Their prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. They have Mudd Pie clothes for girls.
Their staff is very friendly and knowledgable.
They have a rack for things that are on sale toward the back of the store.
Our only problem when shopping here is knowing when to say when.

The Island Toy Store Plus More makes me feel happy — It is a joyful shop with a huge selection that never disappoints. It has something for every one!

You always hear of Islands having buried treasure… well, I found treasure just a little bit buried when I stumbled into The Island Toy Store Plus More in Avalon on Catalina Island. It is a little off the main drag, just down a bit on Sumner Ave (right across from the miniature golf course)
I no longer have small children, but I am an eternal child and love color and whimsy and things that make me smile. I am not a department store kind of girl, but rather get great enjoyment out of discovering small businesses that show imagination and personality and always try to support the «mom and pops».
This cool little shop had all of those elements plus it was clean and well organized and as a bonus had a rambunctious little French bulldog (and Django was his name) running around to greet everybody. We roughhoused for a bit and he led me to a big surprise…“plus more” was actually a whole area stocked with great pet supplies… no doubt Django had major input as to the merchandise selection!
I had a great time exploring and visiting with the warm and friendly owners, Mike and Leslie, who see this as more than a business venture, but rather a playroom for neighbors, friends, and tourists who just love to have a nice place to shop. The shop was really «feel good»…a warm and friendly no pressure shopping atmosphere with a great selection and super prices. (and yes, I have grandchildren!)
I do not live in Catalina, but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and encourage island inhabitants and visitors alike to enjoy the treasure and take a lilttle bit of it home with you.

Django, the store’s mascot, is a fun loving French bulldog loved by all the kids! If he is gone for a few days to visit his home on the mainland, the locals are asking where he is and if he is okay. Keep up with the great selection of toys and educational materials. I can’t wait to see what they stock for Christmas!
