I found X-train through a Living Social deal and loved it. When I started I’d actually already bought a second deal to try CrossFit and when I started Crossfit after a month of working out at X-Train I was already one of the most in shape people at the Crossfit gym. Needless to say I went back to X-train after my other deal was over, have now been there for almost 2 years and have never looked back. My husband and I are moving to Atlanta in August and the thing I’m most sad about leaving is X-train! Barron, the owner and primary trainer at X-train, is fantastic. You can tell that he is personally invested in getting to know everyone on a very personal level and helping you to achieve your fitness goals. Barron is extremely knowledgeable about nearly every aspect of fitness and always has challenging(and fun, if you like getting your butt kicked) workouts. Speaking of the workouts, workouts at X-train are constantly varied and designed to challenge you while making sure your progress won’t stagnate. There are slew of different choices, but the best ones — if you like really intense workouts like I do — are the Tabata classes, the HIIT classes(high intensity interval training) with Lisa, and the E-KB(kettle bell) classes. The gym has a pretty good selection of times, so if you like to workout in the morning there are classes for that, while there are also classes at lunch, after work and on Saturday mornings. The gym is pretty affordable compared to other gyms I’ve seen, and especially considering the level of attention you get. Classes usually range from 4 – 20 people in size, and even when classes are full Barron and the other trainers are always walking around, making sure everyone has great form on all the exercises, and encouraging you to push yourself. I can’t recommend X-train highly enough — if you live in the north Austin area and are looking for a great workout, try X-train!

I spent a month at X Train on a living social/Groupon offer and I believe there is Unilocal checkin offer available too. I like how you can sign up for classes online and I believe they have done a great job with their interface. The classes are usually a mixture of strength & endurance and of the cross fit genre, without the perceived craziness. I trained primarily with Jeremy and he is a very good trainer. His classes are non-intimidating, includes all levels and he truly cares about getting your form right and getting the best results. I think the place is sufficiently equipped with all the right stuff needed for the workouts. The TRX workouts can be technical and I did only of those classes before sticking to the regular stuff. Overall, it was a enjoyable month, I’m dinging one star because I believe the place could be cleaned/sanitized more often. And X Train, this is my grouse with every workout place I have been, so, please don’t take it personally. The pricing structure varies and it can be about $ 60 – 70 per month with a 1 year signup

I have been going here for two years now and love it. Work-outs are in a class, group setting, but almost like personal training because the classes usually only have around 8 – 12 people. Love the trainers(Jeremy and Barron). They are very supportive but also really try to challenge you and make sure you do the exercises with the correct form. I have toned up and lost weight, even though I used to go to to 24 hour fitness four days a week for years before this, and saw little results. I don’t see myself ever going to a big gym again after the service I get here.

I bought a LivingSocial for X-Train as a temporary gym pass for when I visited my family around the holidays, and I ended up wishing I could join them permanently. It’s not a drop-in whenever you want gym — instead, you show up for scheduled classes with top-notch trainers who give you great personal attention, motivation, and an ass-kicking workout every time. The classes that I went to were small, ranging from 5 – 15 people at a time, and I felt like I got tons of personal coaching in every setting. The trainers take the time to correct your form when needed and offer encouragement and praise to keep you working hard. The place is a little hard to find on West Anderson, as it lacks obvious signage. It’s worth the hunt!

X-Train rocks! Seriously, I love this place! I’ve been a member of various gyms and marathon training groups, but this is the first place I’ve felt like I have a true fitness community. The trainers(Barron & Jeremy) are so nice and they truly care about you reaching your fitness goals. They prepare excellent workouts and are always willing to help you outside of the regular classes as well.(I’ve met with them many times regarding diet/nutrition/meal plans.) The classes are small, so everyone who works out there gets to know each other. It’s great to work out with people that you’ve come to know. Everyone is so friendly. And the workouts are fantastic. They’re tough and they get you in shape. It’s so satisfying when you realize how strong you’ve gotten and you move up to heavier weights! The facility is nothing fancy, but it doesn’t need to be. The workouts and the people are what make this place so great.

I like xtrain. The location is convenient for me and they often run specials on the cost of the membership. The trainers are invested in the clients and the members are friendly and build a sense of community with one another. Pros: –Jeremy Ortiz — Awesome trainer, he will push but not in a mean overly aggressive way, knows all of the members by name, corrects your form in the moment, encourages you to increase your weights(when necessary), very knowledgeable –Class size — the classes are small and feel like personal training sessions –You will see results, give them six months and you will have the desired changes. –I really like the TRX bands used in the classes, really works your core(and more) Cons: –time management — classes do not begin on time(or end on time) –equipment — there are weights/kettle bells that are more popular and there simply are not enough. A small investment by xtrain in equipment can equate to big changes for clients. I cannot glow enough about this gym and I recommend it to anyone.

I had the pleasure of training here for the recent Texas Spartan Race and I have to say it was the absolute best training experience! Barron is awesome, and I love his approach to training. In addition to kicking my butt through exercise he also was extremely helpful in suggesting some stretches for injuries that I had. The tips he gave me made a significant difference and allowed me to run the Spartan race not only pain free in a much better time than I would have thought. The other people training there were really nice too. I’m looking forward to training with him again and for future races since I’m now hooked. I wanted to also mention that despite having worked out for years, when I first started this training my cardio conditioning was way behind everyone else. I never once felt judged or looked down upon for it by anyone. Each week I got stronger and stronger and was encouraged by Barron throughout.

About 6 months ago, I met Barron of VO2 Fitness; I was 30 pounds overweight, unhealthy, and unhappy. After working with VO2, I lost the weight, toned up, and became a lot healthier. He helped me accomplish this through boot camps, run clinics, general nutritional counseling, and being a hell of a motivator. Give him a try, he guarantees it will work for you or double your fat loss back!
