I’ve been coming here for their breakfast tacos for about a year now. Those tacos have some addictive qualities, especially when you put some hot sauce on them. I don’t know much about their dinner entrees but they serve some really good breakfast tacos and that’s why I keep coming back.

The neighborhood Mexican restaurant is a gem of a place. Very good food at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place.

This spot is ok but not as good as Vasquez #1 on Breaker. The carne guisada was flavorless and kind of tough. I was very disappointed. The portion was huge though. Once I ordered fajita and egg tacos to go and it took just over 20 mins to be ready. I’m sorry but that’s unacceptable for a breakfast taco… SPECIALLYWITHOUT A WARNINGWHENORDERING! I can’t fib, they were bomb though! Vasquez has great beef fajita! The barbacoa is superb as well. The refried beans are so bland I wasn’t even mad they spilled out into my to-go bag. Same for the potatoes. Bllllaaannddd! I will only be coming here for breakfast tacos from now on. I’ll make sure I call in for pick up 1st though.

I usually love whole in the wall joints but this place was a big disappointment. Our service was great but the salsa was very watery, and the queso tasted like it wasn’t made fresh and was also super watery. The actual enchilada meal had no flavor and the sauce tasted like can enchilada sauce topped with huge chunks of beef that also had no flavor. I do not recommend this place.

Best breakfast tacos around. Now that the cold weather is coming I would recommend the Caldo de Res. The fajita tacos are awesome. You can also ask for fresh corn tortillas just takes a little to make.

The food is really soggy here. I got the cheese quesadillas with rice and beans. They tasted OK, not that good. For $ 10 I expected better quality. Its was like bad cafeteria food. The beans were soggy, so was the cheese quesadilla, the rice was OK. The BBQ Pork burrito seems better. The women’s bathroom had a scary cockroach in it. I don’t think I’ll return, their breakfast items look interesting but there’s a lot of options in the area…

I don’t understand the rest of these reviews — it just wasn’t good! I got the chicken fajita enchiladas, and I’m not really sure what they did to it. First of all, it was almost entirely cheese — like a couple cups of cheese on top. Second, the meat was clearly not cooked at all inside of the enchiladas, just grilled and then placed in. There was no flavor to it and I had to give up eating it eventually because it was torturous. The flavors were all so separate and bland that it tasted like I was eating plain grilled chicken, a tortilla and then a handful of cheese.

Came in for breakfast, late Sunday, and they still had a large crowd, but they helped us out right away and brought out our order quickly. I ordered a chorizo and egg taco and a gordita de chicharron, my husband ordered a bacon and egg and Barbados gordita. The tacos were good, average size but stuffed with eggs, the only thing I wish they had were homemade tortillas that would of made the tacos better. The gorditas were good too, FYI you selected the meat and they add beans and lettuce, so if you don’t like beans(like my husband) say no beans. Chicharron is spicy, Barbados is tasty. Overall I’d come back for breakfast. May try them for lunch sometime, did notice they have a large menu!

3.5 stars but i’ll round up. I go here for the breakfast tacos and the al pastor plate. They don’t have much of a choice in regards to salsas, but I will say that i do like the one salsa they do have. staff is always smiley and friendly. Food is cheap and good too. The food portions are very generous. I wish they were open later to quench my drunken cravings for Mexican food. Sometimes, Taco Bell just won’t cut it. I do want to go in and try their Menudo, but the catch-22 of a hangover cure is that you have to figure out a way to get there when you wake up.

Huevos Rancheros had a fair, spicy ranchero sauce. Potatoes were cooked perfectly. We also had the Cheese Enchiladas covered in, very tender & tasty, Carne Guisada & all covered in more cheese. A little too much cheese going on here. The Spanish Rice was freshly cooked, flavorful(not dried out). The Refried Beans were bland and pasty. The Tortillas commercially made, but ok. Their«Picadillo» isn’t true picadillo at all. Simply carne molida or plain ground meat. The Salsa here is excellent & makes all the difference on the Breakfast Tacos. The Waitress was friendly and took good care of her customers. This is a small neighborhood style restaurant located in a small strip mall. 1 serious objection:(1) I did not appreciate having«The Price is Right» blaring in the background the whole time I was there. Prices are a little higher here. Never the less, I may come back one more time. ! Not an outstanding dining experience.

I would’ve liked to give this place a solid four but here we go again with store bought steamed tortillas. The tacos were large and very very tasty so I will be back for a good breakfast taco. The tacos came out fast too. This place is always busy like today and that’s due to the quality of the food minus the tortillas.

The carne guisada, rice and beans were all excellent. The chips were the best I’ve had. The waitress was slow in bringing refills though and we were the only ones in the restaurant so I’m not sure what the hold up was. Also, they didn’t seem to have any refill for the ranch dressing that we put on the side salad. All in all it was good food but I’m not sure I would eat here again for the service and loud music.

OMG, have I finally hit up all the Vazquez restaurants? I’ve been to at least 3. That definitely says something about a chain, when I“m motivated to try their other locations. Just like with the other locations, they’ve got great hot salsa, the tacos are yummy, I like their enchiladas, and the portion sizes are fantastic.(Oh, and they’re pretty cheap.) There’s lots of choices on the menu, and you can order breakfast any time of day!

Best breakfast taco’s in North Austin!!! We love this place and get breakfast here often! Boyfriend is a fan of their chilaquiles too! We also like their new addition/renovation. We just wish they had homemade tortillas :(

A good place for a quick bite and take out for breakfast tacos. They have tow rooms, tables 1 – 10 are in the original room, where the TV blasts Mexican shows, the other room is a little more quiet, but you still hear the TV. I feel the TV is too loud… Food is good… Like I said the tacos are good, and they are quick about making them.

The staff and the food is always excellent! The pricing on everything is on the high side… I understand all the fixed cost, profit margins, payroll blah blah but seriously the food is pricey.

I was looking for a great bowl of menudo and that’s what I found. Casual ambiance and not super pricey. I’ve been looking for this type of restaurant since I moved here from Houston and I’m glad I found it.

Nice restaurant. Nice overall layout. They doubled their square footage since my last visit which is a tremendous improvement. Please seat yourself and waitstaff will stop by. However, you must pay at the counter. I like the tortillas. I like the potatoes. I like the beans. The omelettes are ok. A little on the bland side. I don’t understand the salsa that accompanies the chips. Solid 3.5-Star restaurant.

We live super close to this restaurant and it looked promising for a lunch spot after we had spent all day moving into our new house. Luckily they were still serving lunch at 4PM! Their chips and salsa are pretty good and we enjoyed munching on them while they made our food. We ordered a combination plate with a gordita and an a la carte gordita. One of them was al pastor and the other one was carne asada. Their carne asada was super tender and flavorful — I was really impressed. The al pastor was good as well, but I find that most places can get this one down pretty easily. The gordita was extremely tasty and the rice and beans that were served on the side were delish(and not dry!) as well. The service was really great, and we got a warm welcome to Austin from the waitress. We will definitely hit up this place again to try something new on the menu! Our meal here was a great way to start our culinary journey in Austin!

I love Vazquez because they have good food at great prices. We usually get either tacos or gorditas which are less than $ 2.75 apiece. If I’m feeling extra saucy I get the special of the day. We haven’t ventured too much into their menu because we like the few things we’ve had and stick with ‘em. Our favorites are the beef fajita tacos and al pastor gorditas, or the Wednesday night special of cheese enchiladas with carne guisada, rice and beans for $ 6.99. The salsa packs a punch sometimes and service is generally great. They’ve recently taken over the frame shop next door so they’re larger with more tables! The only downside is they charge extra on the tacos for lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc.
