The Silver Spoon Bakery

I really wanted to like the cupcakes from Silver Spoon. I really did. I picked up a dozen for my husband’s birthday a couple of days before Valentines Day. You’d think that being the weekend before V-​Day, they’d have really fresh and stellar cupcakes. But sadly, they were verging on terrible. I ordered 12 different flavors, and all but two were really dry and lacked flavor. A couple of them tasted like they’d dumped a container of salt into them! The only ones that were remotely good were the chocolate-​on-​chocolate flavor and the Heath Bar flavor. Those tasted pretty good and were moist. However, the rest tasted really stale and dry.
I will say that the gal that was working there was very nice and helpful, but it’s not enough to ever make me order cupcakes there again. Thumbs down!

When I went, I met the owners and they are VERY friendly and extremely accomodating. Pretty good bakery selection. I didn’t see cream or fruit pies (my favorite) But check… maybe they special order? Beautiful shop and food presentation and very good service. We’ve had a piece of Italian Cream cake, Linzer Tart Cookies and their CheeseCake Bön Bons. The Linzer Tarts were a bit different and so to me, disappointing. BUT… they may be more traditional than those I adore from the Jewish bakeries I’m used to in New York or Florida. The cookie was heavier and moister than others \(Too much almond for me) in this very special standard cookie. Not enough crunch. In addition there was quite a note of cinammon. more than I am used to BUT, we are Linzer afficianados and this was just DIFFERENT, not bad, in fact very good but not what I expected,. I would say they do not have a «Standard Bearer» for the Linzer yet it’s very delicious ! Ok moving on from my Linzer fetish…
I would go back, but not necessarily for the Linzer’s or Ital.Crm.Cake as personal preference only. I WILL say that they are WAY better than any grocery store or big market but not yet a 5 star bakery. On a positive note, everything was VERY fresh baked and I will go back.

A friend and I stopped in this bakery while shoe shopping and picked up a cupcake for everyone in our 6 person department. Every single cup cake that we tasted was hard as a rock. We determined that these cup cakes had to have been at least a day old if not more. They looked pretty but tasted aweful. I understand that it is not very economical to throw out the left over cup cakes at the end of the night, but selling them the next day is not worth the $ 2.50.
