Stopped by on a Sunday about 1:00 p.m. to check this place out because I was curious about the golf simulations. I watched a couple of guys using the simulator and it was really lame and rinky-dink. While I was watching, I ordered a bloody mary and the server told me they were out of bloody marys. REALLY! how can a bar be out of bloody marys??? I then ordered a Dewars on the rocks and my server asked me what Dewars was and said he didn’t think they carried it. Of course, they did carry it and I finally got my drink. The caliber of the staff was generally pretty low for an ‘upscale’ bar in the Domain — I won’t be back!

Although the golf thing is a bit gimmicky(and I’m horrible at golf anyway), the food and service is absolutely outstanding and it’s also one of the great happy hours in the area. The crispy pork sliders are amazing and even the salads are prepared well. Our server(Christie) was great, personable and all her suggestions were spot on. Don’t miss the local Circle Blur they have on draft too. Overall this a great place if you’re anywhere near the domain.

Found this place at Unilocal when I searching for a good place for brunch. Went to brunch at a Saturday or Sunday morning, and there’s only 10 customers(including 4 of us). I don’t mind being in a vacant bar/restaurant. I actually like a less crowded place. Went here again for the NBA final Game 6. There were more customers here, but I think this place was still less crowded than Pluckers, Cover 3 and the Park. Which is a plus to me. — Food: 4⁄5 The food is not super delicious, but it’s quite decent. The price is quite reasonable/inexpensive. They have a $ 5 half-pound burger special on Tuesday. The burger is really. Service: 3⁄5 The service is good/okay. The two waiters we met were really nice. Only one took the wrong order for a friend, and he waited another 15 minutes for his food without any breads or other things to eat. But overall his food(crispy chicken) is quite good. Setting: 5⁄5 Many TVs. Nice leather chairs. Nice tables. Clean. — PLEASE give this place a try. This is a really good place to watch a game if you don’t like a crowded and noisy sports bar. If you don’t watch sports games, you can still come here enjoy a nice and inexpensive meal.

Wife had the breakfast spinach & bacon quiche and I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. We loved it! Best brunch in a LONG time for us! Loved the home fries were EXTRA crispy. Some will not like that but we LOVE It that way! We will be back!

I enjoy hitting golf and drinking beer at the same time. The golf simulation is awesome. They do 4 – 7 Happy hour and the food is better than any sport bar. Try the steak slider

I came to The Range because I had a Groupon for it. The reviews I heard going into it were very varied. This was my first time swinging a golf club so I felt like the simulators were pretty cool. Warning: they do have a surcharge for using their golf clubs which I thought was pretty silly so if you’re going to go definitely bring your own. It happened to be Easter Sunday so the place was practically empty. Nice atmosphere though. Good seating and several TVs. Great happy hour specials. Now to the reason that this place only gets two stars in my book: THEFOOD! Awful! I ordered the three meat pizza, «one of the most popular items on the menu.» Three meat was more like three pieces of meat. Seriously, there were no more than three pieces of pepperoni and a few pieces of bacon sprinkled throughout. To make matters worse, it was beyond obvious that this was a frozen pizza. How hard is it to make a fresh pizza? My boyfriend had the buffalo sliders with garlic fries. Again, just frozen and reheated. Rather than using fresh garlic they were just drenched in garlic salt. I will not be going back, and rumor has it that a competitor golf simulation bar is headed to Austin. I think The Range has a long way to go fend off a competitor.

Tried The Range again. The fried oysters were fantastic and the bacon wrapped duck were almost as good, although a bit overcooked. The quail(1) was very good but incredibly tiny; WAY overpriced. I should give them 1 more shot…

We love the Range for its great food, friendly staff and terrific happy hour. It’s a really nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy a few drinks and Jen, our favorite server, couldn’t be any more helpful or sweet. They offer true happy hour prices(none of this $ 1 off crap that so many places are cheesing out with lately) and the food is always spot-on(every slider variation is fantastic). Have to take off a star for the ridiculously high price of the golf simulator($ 55 an hour, PLUS another $ 25 to rent clubs if you don’t bring your own??? WACKO!), but if you don’t go to play, it’s definitely worth the trip.

So my wife and I were walking around the Domain one afternoon, and we stumbled upon this place. It looked pretty cool, and I thought I was in a golfer’s paradise… We sat down and had some lunch. As we were admiring the atmosphere, our food order was messed up not once, but twice! Once I finally got my grilled cheese sandwhich(when it was finally correct), it was pretty tasty. Couple months later(this past weekend), me and some buddies thought we would check out the simulators for an afternoon. There were 8 of us. My food order was messed up again! After an hour of waiting for my food, and one of my buddies asking the server about my food, the server says, «oh, the cooks lost your ticket»…come on! That’s code for«I messed up and never put your food order in the system, but I’m gonna go ahead and blame the cooks anyway». I got the food another 15 minutes later. It was good at least… I inhaled it I was so hungry! Now, for the simulators. I can’t speak for all of them, but the one we were at(the one closest to the bar) was CRAP! I am an avid golfer, and my drives average out at about 300 yards. Not one of my drives on this $ 50k simulator went more than 150 yards… come on! Then I would hit a 9 iron, and it would register at like 190 yards… riiigghhht. Thank God, I didn’t really care because I was out with friends, drinking and hanging out. But for $ 55/hr, you’d think their simulators would be a little more accurate. We didn’t let it keep us from having fun, but if you’re looking for a golf substitute on a rainy or cold day, this is the furthest thing from accurate. I was very disappointed in these things and I will NOT be going back. My opinion is that this place won’t last very long, especially with Top Golf opening up in the next month or so, right down the street.

What a bummer The Range was. My gf and I were really looking forward to having a few drinks and maybe even dinner here to watch a game and to relax. We walked out. The atmosphere was cold and I don’t mean they had the AC on to high. Not a great selection on either the food or drink menu. The staff was rather indifferent to us and it could have been because we weren’t packing golf clubs but I can’t be sure. I would not come back to the range, even if I did have my clubs with me. I think its hard to call this place a sports bar. Maybe«Golf Bar» would be a more appropriate title. Even then, I wouldn’t suggest this to even my most obsessed golfing friends. They do have large indoor driving lanes set up — and that is pretty cool — but if that’s all they have then they don’t have much.

It was the day of the Austin half marathon, and while some of my more motivated and accomplished friends were out actually participating in that event, I figured it was a small miracle I was able to roll out of bed and make it to brunch with Melissa A. and Dej M. at The Range Golf Club in the Domain. Our selection of this venue was entirely Melissa’s savvy logistical call, as none of us wanted to deal with the hassles of driving downtown and dealing with all that marathon nonsense. I will forever be grateful for that. I arrived around 12:30, and the weather sat right on the cusp of chilly, but I figured the outdoors would do us some good. The patio is spacious and has a nice view of the fairway of Domain Phase II, an area I have never actually been to since the only stores around there seem to be limited to places like, well, The Limited. On the plus side, there’s a choo-choo train that drives by every now and then hauling parents and kids. We even waved to the conductor on the first pass. It wasn’t until halfway through we determined that thing wasn’t actually on any sort of track, so there’s literally this off-the-rails train just snaking around the whole place, which seemed a little more scary than charming in hindsight. While Melissa and I were waiting on Dej, I decided to indulge my craving for pancakes, and ordered a large single one that we could split as an appetizer. Chocolate chips are offered as an add-on, so I decided to indulge my inner six year old as well and get crazy with the chips. The pancake was more along the lines of a cakey/crispy consistency, which was perfect, but a little light on the chocolate chips, which was unfortunate. The Texan pecan butter made up for that, though. Melissa regaled me with more dating stories from the straight world while we perused their brunch menu. I came away with two things: 1.) Straight guys are as weird and flaky about relationships as gay guys, and 2.) The brunch menu offered such classics as eggs Benedict and omelets. Neither of these facts were anything I didn’t already know. Dej arrived, and while she went for the«forest of mushroom» omelet, Melissa went with the Benedict, and I chose the«brunchy» version of their pork belly sandwich, which in this case came with a fried egg and cheddar cheese in-between an English muffin. The food could have arrived a beat or two faster, but our server was really nice the whole way through. She even honored a check-in deal that was still popping up on the Unilocal app, even though it was from September. That’s always excellent service. Conversation turned to the age old question of «Shoes: Style vs. Comfort», as we commenced our meal. The Eggs Benedict were alright, cooked the way Melissa ordered but the meat seemed a little on the thin side. Dej’s omelet was chock full of mushrooms, but was a little bland and overdone. My dish was the clear winner. That pork belly really shined. The portion was smaller than I imagined, but I did opt for a cup of fruit that ended up being watermelon. Dej was convinced this was the source of our wait, as they may have had to go to the HEB to go buy one. «Oh God, someone ordered the fruit!» was the conversation we imagined they must have had in the kitchen before driving to the store. It’s just conjecture, but I found it amusing. Oh yeah, there’s golf. Like, simulated golf. I got my first look at the booths as I passed Melissa on the way to the restroom, and she informed me that«Restrooms are down the hall, passed the greens.» I don’t hear that phrase everyday. People had real golf clubs and everything. It almost made me want to take up golf, or at least get all the horribly embarrassing swings I’d make at first in a virtual setting, with less witnesses. Please do not get this place confused with Park at the Domain, especially if someone refers to it as «The Range at The Domain». The Range is a pretty OK place; the Park, well, to quote Obi-Wan Kenobi: «You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.» Just a note: A couple of dudes sat down on the patio and whipped out cigars. I wasn’t nearly as bothered by that as I was by the fact that neither of them spoke to each other. They sat on the couches puffing away, annoying my ladies at the table with the unavoidable smoke, and without uttering so much as a single word to each other. Dej explained that’s what straight guys do: they go out and sit next to each other with little to no conversation. As opposed to women and gay men, who bare their souls over lively conversation while swigging fruity drinks and eating carbs. I’d take the latter any day. To sum up: Gorgeous day, perfect company, middle-of-the road food. I would, however, try them again for a weekday lunch or a Happy Hour. Or if I ever take up golf… which would probably happen sometime after I turn straight and get jazzed about cigars and then not speak to the guys I invite out. So, Happy Hour it is. 3 Stars.

Purchased a groupon for two for 9-holes of golf and $ 30 towards lunch. My husband loved, loved the individual golf areas. What golfer woldn’t? Unfortunately for this review and the Range, I am not a golfer. We were there 90-minutes and I saw the waitress three times. we would order a drink, a meal, whatever and she wouldn’t come back for 20 – 30 minutes. I found this incredibly annoying. In the end we ordered two deserts but after 25 minutes, we told them to cancel and paid our bill and left. This place did not win me over in the least. I would have much rather had a light lunch and HH on the porch at Sushi Zushi or another alternate location.

Came in for a Groupon golf deal. There was an snafu with the reservation we made and we weren’t on the list and, unfortunately, there was no wiggle room to slip us in. Sounds like a bad review, but they majorly made up for it! Not only were all of the staff super friendly and apologetic(accidents happen!) they went above and beyond and comped us an entire meal(2 rounds of drinks, 2 full orders of sliders and 2 desserts!). Our server was awesomely friendly. Never seen a place quite like this. Inside ambiance is nice and comfortable. Golfing areas are private with a lot of space. The ability to appropriately make up for a boo-boo is a sign of a well managed establishment. Great customer service! Will be back!

So, Saturday evening … dinner at 5 for 5 people. This is your basic kind of sports bar with a lot of TVs and bar area. It isn’t necessarily prime for a lot fo small talk if you aren’t into what is on TV. For us, it was the Wild Card playoff game soooo … The place wasn’t crowded at all. Of course what makes this place special is the digital golf areas. Those were pretty much all being used. The event room in the back was also being used. So, just not that many people out in the front bar area. The place was clean. We were greeted when we walked in. We found a table right when you walked in. Most of the seating is really for like a lounge area — smal tables, comfortable chairs etc. The front area has bar like tables that were pushed together to seat 5 of us. The chairs are the high chairs — which — personally, I find extremely uncomfortable because I am evidently shorter than most people. My feet never really can reach the bar on the chair well enough to provide support so — my legs dangled — which isn’t comfortable either. I ordered the burger sliders. The rest of the table ordered the Rueben, Italian Grinder, some salad and then a grilled cheese. I also got the parmesean fries. From a food standpoint, those little burgers were quite tasty. The fries however, left soemthing to be desired for my personal taste. The taste of the frie was good — when I found fries that had some crisp to them. The seasoning was good —(perhaps a little too salty) — but I had to just think if they had really crisped up, this would have been a terrific fry. None of us finished our fries. Although one of my friends said she liked the mushier version of fries. Hmmm … interesting. Big question … would I go again? Probably not. I might if I was out with friends, there was a game on we wanted to watch and felt like noshing on decent food. But since we were there to see a movie at the iPic … meh … I could probably pass on stopping here again for that reason. So, I give it a 3 … as a sports bar … I guess it was a-ok!

I tried this place for lunch recently, and was pretty impressed. It was a Sunday afternoon, which meant there was a brunch menu as well as mimosa and bloody mary specials. I planned on getting a mimosa(which are 50 cents!), but ended up getting a $ 4 bloody mary, due to the manager’s recommendation. It was pretty good, but did not have a celery stick or olives. It came garnished only with a lime. Still, it was good. While the brunch menu was pretty tempting(there’s a breakfast taco pizza!), I ordered the candied BLT with parmesan fries(you can choose between that or sweet potato fries). The fries had good flavor, but I wished they had come with some kind of dipping sauce. They were definitely not crisp. They were pretty soft, but luckily I like fries like that so it was good for me. My boyfriend had the cajun wings, which is a dry rub, and he really enjoyed them. The candied bacon on the BLT was so incredibly amazing that it gets it’s own paragraph. The sandwich itself was great… sourdough bread, lettuce, tomato, and aioli. There was a good amount of bacon, and it was crisp, sweet, and perfect. The staff were all nice and informative. The bf got some info about how the golf stuff works there. We’ll definitely be back!

The Range helped me host a graduation party last night, and they did a remarkable job! My guests had nothing but positive things to say about the experience. I’ve been to The Range on a number of occasions, but they hit it out the park this time. The place has a beautiful ambiance, a one of a kind concept, and amazing customer service. Our waitress(I hate that I already forgot her name) took great care of my group of about 30+ people. We enjoyed the game, some pretty great specials, and the best bar food I’ve ever had. A great time was had by all, I can’t thank them enough.

Affordable drinks plus indoor golf. On Thursdays they have $ 2 drafts all day and $ 2 well drinks. Can we say it’s time to get our drink on? Yes, Ma’am I do believe it is.

This place just opened, but I have been blown away. The half chicken entrée was the best plate of chicken I have ever had, seriously. The drink menu is an amazing concoction that are SURE to please. The service is also outstanding. I live near by so I frequent the place, and they recognize me by name now which I really appreciate because they didn’t have to ask me for my name, or remember it, but they did. They also are the only ones around here who do Saturday brunch! $ 2.50 Mimosa’s baby!
